I got Dan Lilker’s autograph at a nuclear Assualt show. I stepped on his sneaker when I approached the table he was sitting at. He sat up and dusted his shoe off and still signed my Academy Black flyer.
Getting rid of Joey was the biggest mistake they EVER made. Dropped from at least three different labels or those labels failing. They never should have dropped Joey and to me the reason is still unclear on why it happened in the first place. Dumbass move..
@@Robv93 No Joey stopped drinking way before he got fired. They fired him cuz they wanted more grunge-y vocal. I think it was their biggest mistake too. Joey is one of the main reason why they are THE Anthrax! I'm glad he's back now though.. still missing Dan

I find it odd that they were ever thought of as thrash, because clearly they're not. They utilize and combine several genres: rap, metal, punk, grunge, etc. I bought their albums in the 80s then lost interest. Interesting to see this all these years later!
Lol, before them there was no thrash metal. How are they going to be something that hadn't existed yet?? That's why they are one of the bands that PIONEERED Thrash metal!!
Bands that are examples of thrash: Possessed, Kreator, Destruction, Slayer, Exodus. You will notice common elements in their music in the 80s. There is no melodic singing, no rap or crossover, no ballads. Metallica and Anthrax are said to be thrash but I don't think the label properly applies to them. They are, however, heavy metal.
@@thinkforyourself2109 lol before the term "Thrash" was invented, they were mostly called Speed Metal, which, you know, is self-explanatory. And just because some bands have experimented with other things doesn't make them less thrash.
@CreamySauce Fair enough. These genres are not set in stone. They are just broad categories. I accept your argument. My interest in thrash goes back to when it started. I bought a bunch of albums back then and listened to them religiously. The whole thing waned in the 1990s. The 80s was the best decade for it. D. Darrell played in Anthrax?
He played guitar on King Size and Riding Shotgun from Stomp 442.
Jason Rosenfeld did vocals in 1981.
Dan Lilker also created Anthrax.

He usually puts 4 people in the thumbnail, and he wasn't of the 4 from the classic lineup who are still in the band today.

This reminded me why anthrax doesn't fit in with the big 4 (musically, neither do metallica or megadeth to an extent including slayer as well)
How
It's not about music, but what they did for thrash. Anthrax started thrash in New York as opposed to the West Coast bands
Did you see that part where they stabbed their singer in the back to chase a trend? Great other than that
Scott Ian practically destroyed anthrax
No he didn't, Dummy
