The same voice actor also voices Rad in Ok KO. I only found this out because of the episode where he falls in love with the evil robot girl and they sing a duet. It is glorious.
King K Rool has a great singing voice (finest hour Is A bop)

No joke, this show’s version of King K. Rool is probably my favorite interpretation of the character.
Some of his lines are also insanely funny.

@Dry Boi Agreed, it really is wholesome. As for me, my favorite episode would have to be “The Curse of Kongo Bongo” considering the extremely high stakes that Kongo Bongo Island was in, with it being all up to DK and Diddy to save the island from sinking.

Can I be honest, the show wasn't that bad but the animation wasn't that good. Candy Kong looks nowhere near her game counterparts and Dixie Kong looks nowhere like her game counterparts either.

I grew up with this show and yes, there are many flaws and unnecessary things in it, but it’s still hard for me to say that I hate this show. This was part of my childhood, and always will be.

I wish we had gotten a Crash Bandicoot cartoon back in his heyday, I would've eaten that up as a kid. The closest thing we got were those cartoon cutscenes that were removed from the first game.
Yeah you’re right about that 💯. I definitely could have seen a Crash Bandicoot TV series on Cartoon Network or Fox Kids. Those two networks can work with a well-known video game property and its style of both animation and humor.

You think this is terrible CGI? You clearly haven't heard about Transformers Beast Wars
Beast Wars kind of gets away with it at times because the characters are robots and don't look as off as a result (saying this as someone who didn't grow up with the show), but their beast modes and the proto humans have not aged well at all.

You act like this wasn’t one of the first CG shows ever made. I thought it was pretty good for the time. It matched the graphics from the games, which was awesome. Not only was the show very fateful to the games (unlike other video game cartoons as the time) it also added elements to future games like donkey Kong 64. maybe you are a little young to appreciate what it was?

Well this guy think we should all agree with him, but that dumbest thing I ever heard I love that Rare made this show that something charm and I mean it would been popular if America loved it would have made Season 3, but I heard France, Canada and Japan were popular for this show.

I heard about this show and it was pretty funny and good. It may look bad, but you gotta admit, that's how 3d animation looked back in the day. Beast wars also looked like this and it was still good
I heard that the show used motion capture and it shows.
The sad thing is that this isn't the only example of horrifying computer animated drek from this time period. In the early 90's kids animation almost completely switched overnight to computer stuff, and shows like this were a dime a dozen. There were so many kids' movies and TV shows that had the same crap, barely animated computer rendered junk, with humor that was on par with this one shoehorned in. It got even worse when they started using motion capture. You started to see characters animated as horrible and terrifying looking as they are in this show, but moving very unnaturally like people. It was strange, but the more motion capture they used, the worse and more horrifying the animation got.
Then they went from all that and tried commercial animorph in the late 90s and early 2000s
the DKC show is not horrific, you just lack the capability to gaze into the eyes of god you goon.
As someone who watched this in the mid 90’s - it didn’t look terrible on a 12 inch CRT tv with blurry reception.

I might get martyred for this but I think this show is kinda fun. I actually think the animation isn’t that bad, i think the over the top expressions and movements are pretty funny. The songs are good honestly, DKs singing is god like and i could totally listen to it when I’m not watching the show.
I’m just glad this show exists.

Fun fact: You can often see where the animators removed parts of models that they figured wouldn't be seen to presumably save space or remdering. King K Rools stomach color is a whole seperate model, it clips through his chest often

I mean, people think this show is bad because they always watch the first chapter (which is one of the weakest). From Chapter 7 and on the show begins to massively gain quality. Some chapters are great, like the one where they have to send a time capsule to the moon, the one where Bluster creates a love potion that everyone ends up drinking, or that one where DK wishes he didn't exist. Give it a try, people.
This is an amazing show all around, its weak points are blindly over stated.
The animation for those who didn't know was done through motion capture. Look it up if you don't know what that is.

The first impression we get of Candy is her taking a birthday cake a guy made for her and destroying it. It might’ve worked if it showed how much of a jerk he was beforehand, but this is our introduction to both characters

You have broke my heart! I was about to unsubscribe to your channel! I like the show! Sure it is not perfect, but it provided me with a few laughs. It wanted to try something new, take the series in a new perspective, can't you just appreciate that. I understand that the animation is not the best, but they had little to work with and they were experimenting with new animation technology.

I remember my discovery of this was accidental, finding it on public access on-demand.
The reason this show looks weird is because it was actually the first ever TV show to be rendered entirely in CG (and characters were animated via mocap).
This show only looks weird to those with an unrefined palette for things greater then themselves

Hey! In their defense, the crystal coconut was essential to complete DK64 and the abilities the coconut crystals powered were AMAZING! I still wish I had a barrel jet pack like Diddy did in DK64. I also have a soft spot for this show cos me n my sis bought a vhs boxset at the thrift store and honed our English this way (we only spoke Spanish back then). It didn't look so ugly when I was a kid.

9:51 I watched the show as a kid, and I liked it very much back then. After the internet made it resurface due to the memes, I recently decided to rewatch some episodes (on RUclips) of the LatinAmerican dub (the one I watched back then). I noticed that the dub team introduced lots of jokes and puns that a kid my not get (I didn't back then), but they were very funny. I feel kinda sorry for the people who watched the original as adults, since these regional dub jokes are most likely absent there.
Both are godlike. Honestly, all I want is a full HD box set of the series in all dubs, cast interviews, all that shit.

One thing, CG cartoons like this always look much, MUCH worse on modern devices. On older TVs they looked decent as long as they moved okay.
