Hypertension is the medical term for high blood pressure. A cat is generally thought to be hypertensive when its systolic blood pressure is above 160mm Hg. Kidney, thyroid, and heart disease are the most common causes of feline hypertension. Hypertension is more common in older cats, especially overweight or obese cats. (source: VCA Hospitals)
