Raja Salwan of Sialkot had two wives, Ichhran and Luna. But he had no son. So when at long last he did get a son, he was named Puran. the “full” or “the one who fills”. The Raja was advised by court prelates to keep the prince out of his sight for twelve years. Accordingly, Puran was brought up in a secluded apartment, away from his parents.
