would be nice to see who were the architects aswell
Manchester is building the Viadux 2 tower which will be 241m
Historically the UK, like much of Europe, has never really been on board with the super skyscraper boom culture that was popular in America for a time, which is now mostly limited to the Arabian gulf states, China, and some parts of Asia.
Our tallest and most iconic building The Shard, is a foreign investment in the city of London by Qatar that viewed it as a safe pair of hands for their money. There is no money, ambition, or need, for taller towers in the UK than what we currently have.
Towers 500m+ in other parts of the world are an impressive statement of intent, but many are I think being shown to be vanity projects with height far exceeding purpose and demand.
Thanks for your comment. Yeah i think Europe skyscrapers somehow needs to be more connected with reality. So they are smaller but they face more challenge regarding to planing laws, economic viability, etc. Actually im not so interested in skyscrapers from the middle east. It feels like they are playing Sim City with cheat codes ;)
@@theskyscraperscorner9891
Currently the building height race, mainly in Middle East and Asia looks more than a infantile dick measuring contest, I'm glad that Europe is not taking part.
London clay in London doesnt help to build skyscrapers. Its good for tunnelling and underground construction but struggles to withstand heavy loads without settling. Only recently the improvements in geotechnics helped to overcome this
Yes. You can find many in Malaysia itself.
At least they got south tower in manchester
Currently Aspen Tower is half way done, when completed it will be 216 Metres. But hopefully we’ll see more 300+ Metres skyscrapers here
So basically everyone except number 10 is in London no wonder people in the rest of the country feel a disconnect from London.
Yeah london has by far most of the tallest skyscrapers in the uk.
8 Bishopsgate is now number 10 in London, so all ten tallest are now in London.
204 metres
Maybe because London is populated as well being the financial capital. So of course London deserves the taller buildings
@@Yasin_2312maybe use “has” instead of “deserves”.
@@Nogothoughts I stand by my point

The tallest in the uk isnt the shard its the emley moor tower
that's classified as a structure and isnt included in tallest building lists
8 bishopsgate is now number 10 at 204 metres.
thanks for the update :)
@FuckashimaMonaCher I haven't seen this one, and I can't see it mentioned anywhere as under construction?
The tallest under construction in Manchester is Trinity Islands tower 1 at 183 metres.
@FuckashimaMonaCher Aspen Tower in Canary Wharf will be 216 Metres and is already half way there
What is your favorite building in the uk?
I really love the one canada square :)
My house
Of course ;)
The iconic Shard. The conical shape and the sharp summit is a work of art.
1 Canada Square. Classy sharp elegant. Saw it in 1994..was the only tower at Canary Wharf....well done video..love to have a cuppa tea
Emley moor mast: am I a joke to you
Yeh it is a joke, because it’s a mast/tower, not a building. Instead of telling me what words to write in my comment, you should check yours :)
@@Yasin_2312 it’s why they renamed the shard a “residential building”
@@Nogothoughts The Shard is a mixed use building
@@Yasin_2312 a building has to be freestanding and have walls which emley moor mast has also people work in emley moor mast which means people are in the building.
@@Nogothoughts Yeah but it’s purpose is not for habitation but for telecommunications, therefore it doesn’t count as a building. Also a Building is meant to have floors/stories. There are so many towers that have walls like the Milad Tower, KL Tower, CN Tower, Ostankino Tower etc, but they’re not called buildings because they don’t have floors. Despite all 3 of these towers have an observation deck unlike the Emley Moor Mast
The most of these buildings are really ugly.
Then what is the ugliest for you? ;)
@@theskyscraperscorner9891 "The Shard"
@@malachaicarter4338 If this is supposed to be the best... my condolences for London.
Kermit Frosch, at least The Shard looks 10 times better than your Commerzbank Tower or perhaps every German Skyscrapers there is
@@Yasin_2312 😂 No, not really. The Shard comes from a completely different era than the Commerzbank Tower. So architecturally not really comparable. In addition, Millennium Tower 1 will soon be built in Frankfurt and it looks 10 times better than this ugly Shard, which doesn't fit into the cityscape of London at all. The most beautiful tower in London is still the "Gherkin". This Tower is really timelessly beautiful.
What is the point of this video?
Well i guess its quite obvious^^ presenting the tallest building of the uk
@@theskyscraperscorner9891 Which apart from one in Manchester, are all in London.
What is the point in ur comment?
@@NEWCASTLE.UNITED. This is not the UK’s tallest buildings. It is the tallest buildings in London and one in Manchester, it may as well just be the tallest buildings in London and forget the rest of the country because it is just another “Look how amazing London is blah blah blah.”
@@paulwild3676 someone sounds salty. Imagine crying over a topic about skyscrapers in a certain location 😂
Crap music.
Bad thing is: plenty floors are very low..
