my all-time favorite chris farley moment is from "tommy boy". when farley and spade are singing in the car, the hood pops up, they start screaming. the music gets all upbeat and exciting. farley sticks his head out the side of the car and sees all the oncoming traffic. the moment where he sticks his head out, registers what's happening then his ROAR of fear.... i COLLAPSE into tears from laughing so hard. i watch that scene 100+ times, back-to-back, and still laugh just as hard as the first time. his talent knows NO bounds. despite his demons, he is beyond a hero and inspiration. i quote him EVERYDAY. he is spot #1 on my last supper list. endless love and respect to chris farley
Two things. I really love how close Spade is to the Farley brothers. It’s so great. And how great is Johnny Farley. Loved him on L.O. And A.D. But this is the best.
What an amazing episode Dana n David. This is so beautiful.
What you said! ❤❤❤
My kids are 12 & 15 and they know Chris through me watching Tommy boy and Beverly Hills ninja and Billy Madison etc. I made sure they know who he is!! 🫶🏼🥰🥲 thank you Dana and David for these episodes to let us in on more about Chris and to remember his legacy! 🙏🏼🥰
Props to Jim Belushi for his cyrstal-clear,solid edification/clarification to Chris:)Jim was SO GOOD in Salvador with James Woods-still my fave Oliver Stone film:)
Thank you so much gentlemen. Chris was a one in 8 billion and we were all lucky to know him in any way we could. Unforgettable.
Dang it, David and Dana and Adam, you made me cry 😥
Fly on the Wall is the best podcast 👍
Amazing and bitter sweet to hear all these stories about Chris! And important to keep talking about, and to, those with mental health and addiction issues.
I was just thinking same when i saw yr comment. His peers all saw him as better than them, yet he was insecure about being 'good enough'. Amazing & bittersweet, just like you said ⚜
Thank you both for this two part show. I laughed out loud along with you and your friends. But when Jim spoke about the wisdom he’s gained and how he uses that wisdom to help others it really took me to a different place. All of us go through our own struggles and suffering; and the most beautiful things that can come from it are the strength, wisdom and compassion it instills in us if we’re open to it. Conan was a perfect closer . That conversation was a perfect way to honor Chris’s spirit and talents while being reminded of just how much beauty addiction steals from this world. Just wanted to say I felt the pacing and flow of the entire tribute. Well done. You certainly touched my heart.
Hey Jon, What a great comment- I feel the same
@@LollieVox There’s some kind of synchronicity between you and I. Or at least we have very similar taste in entertainment? 😎 I thought this podcast was really beautiful.
That japanese gameshow sketch is pure Gold ! "GOOD LOORD, I SHOULDNT BE HERE!" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Solid Gold:)🔱
Kwa...ki...?...sur...p-pi?...ni...ku...?
SWEET MOTHER OF GOD I DON'T SPEAK JAPANESE
Everyone loves when he screams, but my favorite part is how polite he is, trying to explain that he thought he was going to be IN THE AUDIENCE of a game show, but that Japan's a beautiful country, everybody's been great...
@@williamshaw9047 he had this incredible energy even when he was not screaming. I watched his Movies a lot as a kid and i always thought he would be John Candys wild little Brother😅😅

@@fiona9443 you’re very welcome
What a touching tribute from Lovitz about Lovitz.
🎉🎉🎉
Lovitz gets too much hate from you hacks. He’s fucking hilarious.
Jon Lovitz was a guest on Letterman or something & supposed to promote the _(current thing) & he wasn't in the mood to be a whore. Personally, I RESPECT THAT. He actually had to be reminded to mention it - 'Aren't you- uh- supposed to...say something.. about the... thing -?' 'Oh, That! Yeah but I don't want to go to/be in.. Okay! I just finished 🌀🌀 (I think it was Mahr's one way 'Roundup' table of Nepotism and the lost tribe.
Never met him, but I think he has been hilarious, eg- on [RIP] Shandling's Larry Sanders Show: low attention part, just walking around type of down part, but into Gary's Lover who learned how to act on big Daddy's second show.
This is so great, thank you guys. I would love one of these for Norm too!
John sounds exactly like Chris it's crazy! Even as giggle is identical ❤️
These are so nice to hear these stories. Dang when his brother was talking I could hear Chris a bit. He was such a funny guy. I've never got to meet any of you guys but you were my SNL group when I was younger from Carvey, Hooks, And Hartman on up and as just a fan I hate when we lose any of you. RIP Chris, Phil, Norm, Jan. Thanks for all the laughs.
Love Chris so much, thank you for this ❤
I love how this whole episode is essentially a "Memeber when?"" for Chris. He was so good in that sketch. Love this podcast!
Thank you guys so much for doing this!!!!! I just finished both parts. What a great treasure. I can't express how much I love him, truly! Ty all!! Love you guys!!!
I started listening to this podcast a few weeks ago. Found it interesting due to how different I saw the humor of Spade and Carvey, and how well it blended together. The stories and jokes shared with the audience brings their lives into ours seems very special. I have enjoyed them having different cast members on, bring up memories of my past and alot of the skits I have seen helps pass the day. So far though, I must say, this has been my favorite episode between part 1 and 2. Even felt a little misty eyed one second, while smiling the next. Thank you so much for sharing!
To David Spade and Dana Carvey: Thanks for this... it was great...
please... keep it up...
❤️this podcast. It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 yrs! Insane!
11:20 Chris Rock: "Ah! Fuckin' guy's gone..." I get that feeling
as someone that's lived within 10 miles of mendota mental health for most of my life... there is no fence anyomre. Also Chris' mom used to come to our church in westpor often and she's one of the nicest people i've ever met. viva chris viva wisconsin love to all!
John Farley sounds SO much like Chris. Wow.
That was beautiful❤Thanks everyone!
Both episodes are amazing and make me love Chris even harder, but that Belushi section was really on point and therapeutic, especially for an addict like me getting sober again for the umpteenth time.
Well, that means you were never sober in the first place if it's taken you umpteen times. Sober doesn't mean not using. It's several levels above that. Learn what being sober really means this time and it will stick.
Just keep going back and trying again. I was a chronic relapser for nearly 20 yrs. Have 25 yrs sober now. The thing is and I know you know this: We always have another buzz but not another recovery.

Just for today.
Love the Gap Girls sketches, that and What's Up With That? with Kenan Thompson are my favorite recurring sketches in Saturday Night Live history 😂💕
Chris made me believe in myself he was my hero 🥲
This was a great podcast all around and all the interviews were great, but I was really moved by Jim Belushi’s part. Good for him for using all he’s been through to help other people.
The best era of SNL for me (1987-1995). I remember exactly where I was when I heard Farley had passed. I cried for about 5 minutes solid...then Hartman died 6 months later. Gut punch. They were comedy icons to me. SNL and The Simpsons (Troy McClure!) were never the same for me after that.
Soul crushing six months. 💔
Spade sounded so happy when John joined them.
Couldn’t listen to the song. It’s taking me several months to get through this it’s brilliant. Jim Belushi had a lot of important things to say as did many. Thank you guys.
Great 'old people' show skit in real time. Top notch.
1:09:16 Chris was really charming. I love him. Theres no one with a charm quite like his. So gentle, quickwitted and strong. And yes, very handsome.
Great tribute to Chris guys. He was my favorite for sure. Me and my good friends growing up were always dropping Farley references. Appreciate everyone who contributed to putting this together
Thank you. Prefer podcast with video's but this worked while I was working and I enjoyed every bit. Hard to believe it's been 25 yrs. I still go back and watch old SNL skits with him in it. Remember how impressed I was when he did the skit with Nancy Kerrigan and how well he ice skated.
Maxines "Get right back to where we started from"🎶🎵
Reminded me of Chris BEFORE I even heard the story. Its such a joyful but moving and tear jerking song. Thats really interesting 1:06:11
I could easily listen to another 6 or 7hrs of memories about Chris. At the end... even tho I've heard it before, I cried listening to Sandler's tribute song. Part 1 + part 2 + Sandler's song = me in tears. We miss you Chris ❤
Man... after listening to all of his friends talk about him and their loss... when you played Sandler's song, I fuckin cried my eyes out.
Thanks for that.
Same. Listening to it right now...crying right now😢❤
Listening to this right now. RIP Christopher Crosby Farley, living in a van down by the river doesn't sound too bad these days homie. Made me laugh countless times even though I never got to know Chris, I relate after reading Toms book & hearing all these interviews that are this recent. Glad Sandler could open up about him too. Very interesting legendary man & honestly always ponder on what would he have gone on to do or become? He had such great ambition. The people around him in those last few months (ironically when he got paid) he lost control & I think sight of things because he was dealing with mental health issues he didn't quite know how to communicate. But I will always remember the skit' on Conan where he sings I'm A Clown But I Cry. What an actor with real range. I admire him. One of my top 5 performers. Ever
I think he would have done a Jim Carrey-esque transition from comedy to comedy/drama or pure drama had he survived. People who knew him thought he had untapped potential. I think if he could have channeled his demons, his insecurities into drama (he did take Drama as a minor in college) and self-medicate that way vs. the drugs, booze and food, he would have made it. I also think his sweetness/naivety contributed to him hanging around/trusting the wrong people who, certainly at the end, definitely didn't have his best interests in mind.
I want to thank Dana and David for doing this podcast. I LOVED SNL (still do) when I was a kid. You guys were my guys. I don’t think you guys realize how much people love you. Wayne’s World and Tommy Boy are two of the best movies of all time. I love Black Sheep. I quote it all the time. “I got dibs on top bunk!” I remember having to watch a lot of episodes of SNL on Comedy Central and they were always rerun’s because my parents wouldn’t let me stay up late to watch it. If I wanted to watch it, I would have to sneak in and turn on our super bring tv that would light up the whole room. lol Anyway, thank you for stories and wisdom. I am sorry for loss of your friend, Chris Farley. He was such a huge bright light and made so many people laugh. He is a big part of my youth as well. I lost my sister to a over dose and I know how much that sucks. Anyway, sorry for the novel. Laughter is the best medicine and you guys have healed or helped a lot of people.
Jim Belushi 😭😭😭
TFS David and Dana 💫
*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !*
_Tappin' in from South Central LA_
That Sandler song - great f**kin' ending !
Rest easy Mr. Farley 🙏🏾
The end.. that song always gets me...who's chopping onions?
Excellent. C.F. was a comedy genius. RIP Chris. 🙏👍🏻👏
Sandler at the end....😭🤣😭🤣🥰
This is really great. I hope you do other big theme episodes with a lot of people, or panels. The whole podcast has been really great so far.
I'm shocked master of disguise didn't do well. Me and my brother would say lines from that all the time. We absolutely loved that movie we watched it over and over. Every single time I see a turtle I say in my head turtle turtle turtle just like Dana did.
I haven't seen it since I was a kid. We loved Rob's the animal too. I watched it recently I need to rewatch master of disguise and Tommy boy.
My dad loved Farley so much. Tommy boy was one of his favorites. I always liked black sheep better but loved Tommy boy as well. Definitely gonna watch all of them again
“Become another person” and “am I too turtley for you” is the 2 me and my daughters say often.
@@RobertSmith-lw2bx Somewhere in time it became Robert Shaw's Jaws! That scene-29 kids go into the wat-er-,22 kids come outta the wat-er-Ice Cream Man take the the rest! It's Robert Shaw's Jaws all the way .Spielberg,Milius,Dreyfuss,Scheider, were luckily & loosely affiliated ,but it's Robert Shaws movie all the way! They used to play it in a loop at West Marine-Marina Del Rey-when I worked there&never did anyone complain....
Honestly, Chris Farley was a very rare caliber of performer...not just a comedian. He was truly excellent at comedy, but he could have been an extraordinary dramatic actor as well.
that song brings a tear to my eye, every time I hear it!
I am in the same boat with the Farley brothers and Jim Belushi.
My late brother suffered with addiction.
I found my brother dead in a ditch face first in water.
He too was 33 years old.
So sorry for your loss. I'm waiting for my son to get it together before he becomes another statistic.
@@MsThebeMoon Thank you. I sure hope he can get help. 🙏
I loved this podcast I really felt like a fly on the wall. Hahaaha great job guys ❤️❤️❤️
Listening to the Jim Belushi part currently. I hope Dana has reached out to him now and of course Chris's family.
Part two was amazing thank you for doing this
It's so important to bring awareness to addiction
He has a great masoleum grave in Madison, Wisconsin. What a great, tragic performer. RIP
“Conan, I’m not much of a reader”. When Chris talked about substituting for Newt G. In congress with Conan. Still a great piece
I never realized how much Jim Belushi sounds like the pillow guy.
This is the most likeable I've heard Spade possibly ever. Glad Farley broke through to him
Man Chris’ brother sounds just like him lol
I was a foot messenger in the Chicago Loop when I heard over the radio that I carried and listened to over headphones that he was gone. I sat on the stairs to lower Wacker and cried for his Family. I have cried many times since thinking about what could’ve been. Loss sucks and we all have to face it but his stepping away hit harder than most of us expected. His friends love will always keep his memory alive.
If Chris was alive he would have a Podcast and it would be huge
These were great. Hope you guys do something similar for Norm down the road.
They did. And it’s so not the same.
@@therealwilfreddierkes9980how so?
@@younggrinch2826Cause their comedy is completely different. Both are great though. Just cause they’re different doesn’t mean they’re both not great.
Calm down. ❤
@@therealwilfreddierkes9980I don’t think you understood his comment.
The belushi segment made me cry 😭 I made it that far without tears
Love Farley! Incredible hearing Rock, Sandler and Mary Anne talk about him!
Matt Foley skit when Christina Applegate hosted SNL is my favorite SNL skit of all time.
John Farley sounds like a perfect combination of his brother and Norm Macdonald.
I’m early 20s and make sure people watch tommy boy or Chris Farley in skits his energy was awesome
Hahaha, five points to Sherry Lansing for knowing that, as soon as she said her name through the door, Chris would immediately fall in line.
I feel so fortunate to have been a part of getting to listen to this. It’s gotta be up there as a favorite podcast episode. The more I listen to your podcast, the more special I think it is. I’m happy to have found it! Thank you both ❤
Larry Miller was great inKissKissBangBang, one of those great Shane Black Christmas movies:)Chris Farley?Heaven Bless His Tender Soul Now & Forever,Amen.:)
his “5 levels of Drinking” is perfect piece
Do one on John Bulishi, this was great.
Aauughh Jesus Christ Carvey, and Spade! I had to pull over and have a moment! Aaughh sheeshush Christ!
With that being said thanks y’all. I cherish my friends. I’ve lost a few. Keep the good word going! It’s nice
Hope you guys can do the same for Phil Hartman.
Not the same. Farley was great, but Phil was another stratosphere.
They probly weren’t very close to him like they were with Farley
Poor Jim...you can hear the sorrow in his voice
Otis Redding actually crashed into Lake Monona, not Lake Mendota. Ed Gein was the inspiration for Psycho.
John Luvitz needs his own podcast! He's hilarious!! D&D would be pissed though!!...LOL.
Still feel that heavy heartedness, when I think of the lonely way that Chris died.
That woman taking a picture of him on the floor.
Just a degenerate way to leave someone who is not breathing well.
I really believe Chris Farley had the capability to do more serious roles.
He wasn’t well on so many levels, and was plagued with addiction issues.
2 hours and 7 minutes: "And I took that personally"
Yuck Bag? We called it the bone box. Like an empty milk carton. I get it now!
2:29- Rob Becker/Caveman show discussed
Yep
so sad to hear what Jim says now after Danas loss of his son
Listening to Jim talk about his brother and addiction made me think of my own brother and his devotion to being a junkie and a conman, I have to say that it's not always true that they're not that person, my brother spent over 25 years being his conman junkie thief character, he stole his own daughter's piggy bank twice. I love my brother and I miss him more than anyone can because I have not seen him since 2014. He died in 2021 after Covid said enough is enough. I wish he wasn't more interested in being a criminal junkie than spend time with me, but he hated me and anyone that cared about him, so what can I do. The things he would say about our mother was just pure hate and she did anything she could to help him. What hurts me the most is he never said sorry or good bye to me, he just died on me and never said a word.
God love Jim belushi. His life's been a rollercoaster
I met Farley about 2 months before he passed. He was very low key... not what I expected at all. He had a beard for some reason, maybe it was fake or a new thing he was trying. I know I liked him more after meeting him because I wasn't really a fan at the time.
Man i miss chris
I was thinking the whole time, it would be great if they had some of these sketches at the end. Especially, lunch lady. But they probably didn't have permission legally.
I'm shocked and disappointed that Tim Meadows was not included in this episode.
That's right - he was close to Farley too. Maybe he couldn't join or declined.
68,411 views and only 945 likes must be incorrect.
Dennis Miller is the guy that said the student has become the teacher.
1:36:28 - isnt it sad that he did, he did follow him
So Chris Rock went over? He has the spirit of a preacher. It's what we do.
I wanna hear Michael Jordan on this podcast talking about his SNL experience. Please oh please make it happen
As a stage mgr I had to pull Rita Rudner off stage by reaching out from behind the curtain and grabbing her. She was not responding to her cues to wrap it up.
I have a uncle Farley lol idk he should call me lol
Wow
I'm really enjoying learning about Chris and specially from Dana's and Davids viewpoints and contributions. Do you guy's have enough clout to do a movie that would end woke comedy? Where it's 10 years in the future and your all in comedy Laugh Prison and no one laughs no more except the Clapfter comedians, which at this point doesn't muster a quip of clap or laugh. So you guys come up with a plan of breaking out and start doing a Pirate Station Podcast of comedy And flash mobs of stand up comics...and the story goes go...WRITE IT!
Enough of this Clapfter 🤗
😢
Jim B sounded rough here
This inside NY and LA baseball is so foreign to me. I'm just a guy in the woods in Minnesota who watches SNL on RUclips, feeling a little left behind. But I do appreciate the friendship stuff which is universal.
1:37:45
So he intentionally gave himself a lethal dose in Chicago since that’s where Belushi was from and he was 33? I guess I’m speculating on the death of somebody whom I never knew, which is “tacky” as classy older women would say.
