This album is incredibly diverse so I really couldn’t choose just one track because I wouldn’t want people to get the wrong impression of the overall mood of the album. So we decided to make a video for both an atmospheric track ‘Hopelessly Slipping Away’ and a rocky track ‘Get out! Now!’
‘Hopelessly Slipping Away’ features Tommy Karevik (Kamelot) and Cammie Gilbert (Oceans of Slumber) on vocals. It’s a haunting track with analog synthesizers and violin, and it slowly builds to an epic climax with marching snares. In this video we see the ghost of Daniel (Tommy) hopelessly trying to reach out to his beloved wife Abby (Cammie) who clearly feels his presence but can’t see or hear him.

TOM BAKER ladies and gentlemen. What an addition. His voice gives me chills. Of course, Cammie and Tommy are great, but Mr. Baker is still the WOW factor of this album. Can't wait to hear the rest!

Absolutely! First time i heard this on youtube i found it "ok", after listening to the album it chill the bone!
I read the comic book that came with the album and the songs made so much more sense. This is definitely my favorite song on the album but, like every concept album, it needs to be heard in the context of the album as a whole for its impact to be completely felt.

Tommy sounds so much better with Ayreon, then with Kamelot; he is the wauw factor of the last Ayreon albums. One of the best vocalists who ever lived
Just listen to Seventh Wonder, and be amazed!
"The Great Escape" is, on top of being a 20+ minute masterpiece on par with A Change of Seasons & The Odyssey, a monster of a vocal performance from Tommy.

@@Cotramjoxxx yep seventh wonder: letting loose side + lots of funk and groove. Ayreon: letting loose. Camelot: restrained by the formulaic music. Even though he's my favourite vocalist and I used to really like kamelot I haven't got into kamelot with Tommy (but I think it's the kamelot instrumental)

I am such a huge collector of physical media; however, to keep from totally running out of space I chose a few years ago to go all digital for music except for truly special releases. Ayreon albums are one of those "special" releases I always get physical, and go all out on as well. I pre-ordered the $100 version of this that has the 4 disc earbook album (signed by Arjen), a shirt, a comic book, and I THINK something else I am forgetting about?

Even though this song has a clear meaning and a story/narrative behind it.... it's the type of song that can mean a lot of different things to different people. That chorus is incredibly powerful

Cammie is new to me but wow her voice has so much emotion, really liking this album so far. Tommy sounds much more emotional here as well, vs his usual powerhouse style. I’ll will be making my preorder very soon.

I love that this song has such a strong ballad with raw emotion, you feel that ever presence of the Ayreon universe floating through the melody, yet the visuals (only listened to audio first) truly add to it and pull you away from everything for a few moments.
