I used to lock myself in a room with a big white can shaped honeywell hepa filter during allergy season when I didn't feel like taking meds. Plants hate me.
Really enjoy the carbon filter on the 5500-2, and have both here. The 5500-2 seems like incredibly strong and feels great, but I feel like the Wifi on this is better and being able to control it with alexa and my phone is a huge bonus. Just don't know if I'm sacrificing that much vs the 5500-2 over just wifi. As it has the same specs, the C545 is just a lot smaller without the better carbon filter. Not sure what the actual coverage and filtration rate is on both of these compared. Wish there were more comparisons between the two.
I bought one from Costco this afternoon. The sensor does not work and the Wifi connection will not connect. I Should have taken heed of the warnings from lots of Costco reviewers saying the same. The sensor shows blue in every room and garage. Even shows blue when I burn a match in front of it. My home is under renovation, everyday two months of dust accumulate on kitchen counters. But trying to stay in bedroom/office where it is far less dusty. The actual filtration is probably working fine. Returning for refund tomorrow.
You could do a review now given that there’s a lot of wildfire smoke. Unfortunately my AC is a wall unit that is now the new entrance to the smoke. But I’m sort of not convinced that it’s able to get all the 360 square feet that it’s advertised because I just place it around different corners of the living room (smaller than 360 square feet) and get a red light each time. On the plus side with non-smoke allergens, I have been sneezing less
@@jessd956 It really works! My wife used to have a hard time breathing. 99% of the time this works and it is quiet! I turned it on #3 a few hours before we go to bed. Before I used to give her various allergy medications but nothing works. I've actually farted on the machine to test and that thing turn red immediately.
The led indicator is set on a pre progamned cycle to change from blue to red and back to blue everytime it is plugged back in, it changes colors even with all the filters completely removed!! How do i know? I have 2 of them, try it for yourself, 5mins after plugin it'll be red and about 15mins it'll be back to blue even with no filters!
Nah, its the gate. Way to aggressive, cutting to fast, not opening when it should. We essentially hear what the gate is not blocking, probably 60% attenuation or something.
For anyone watching this, the extra black filters are the Carbon filters, the black filter that is pre-installed is the Pre-filter. Place the Carbon filter in front of the hepa, then place the thin black pre-filter in front of that- they do a very poor job telling you how to set it up. The reason why it is packed in bags is because Carbon is highly active- if they shipped without a bag, they would start binding to contaminants and be "used up" by the time you get your machine. IMHO these are the best bang for the buck, and since using a couple in my home, my allergies are clearing up and I feel more energetic.
You mention low cost to purchase, but what is cost over time for all those filter replacements? Like Gillette gives you a razor cheap but you have to buy their blades. Guessing no generic filters in the world of Air Purifiers...have to go to the manufacturer's proprietary product. Business model is make money on filters not the machine?
Help! I can't for the life of me figure out the two blinking white lights!! I noticed blinking so I changed the carbon filter and now I still can't get this air cleaner to work again after being great for 2 months!!!

Lmao i just bought one today for 129.99 connecting to the app wasnt the easiest and i can see why a lot of people cant connect. But its pretty quite and seems like it works decently. For the extra 30 bucks i paid im not too mad
I only have allergies during spring 🤧 I'm still wondering if it's worth it ....if I want to get rid off the pollen , does that mean I have to buy multiple ones in different rooms ?
@@Sailor-nr7il Originally I thought this too, and I could still be wrong on this, but it does not appear they make them. They C545 is no longer in production. No one has any of these in stock. They have been out of stock for a while. I guess I shouldn't say they do not make them. It is more accurate to say I have not seen the filters in stock for quite some time.
12/2023 - just bought this at Costco including 2 years worth extra filters for $130! It works great!

Just got one at Costco yesterday for 120. Excited to use it! I just plugged it in all night. I need to learn to use the app.
It's pretty great! Helped my allergies. Only good for small rooms tho
@@KevinYeePharmD Do you use the Plasma technology option? I'm a bit concerned even though the company claims it is safe.
@@time2heal If I remember it correctly you can toggle it on and off in the app
Thanks for the review. I might be buying this tomorrow God willing.

Thank you for the info. What time of the year is it on sale in Costco? It is right now $129.
No idea. But if you see it on sale, I would just pick it up. You can always return it lol
I just picked up two on Offer Up for $20 each 😅

Just bought one myself today. I’m highly skeptical. I’ll come back in a month! It is extremely quiet.
Yeah - if you dont like it then you can always return it. But it's really helped my allergies
Any follow up review?

Hi. Just got this air purifier for Christmas. My allergies are really bad. I really hope this helps. Thank you for posting this.
Has this helped your allergies?
Hi! Did you do the update review of this machine? Thanks!
No I never did it, but it's still in my room years later and going strong
@@KevinYeePharmD Oh thank you for your reply!
To the ones that have questions about blinking lights and setup, etc. read the simple to read manual.
It's so simple it's frustrating.😖
$99.00 now at Costco 10.04.2020. It works every penny 😍
It works great
Please do a six month review.
Why did they use the cheap paper carbon filter instead of the thick carbon beaded filter in the 5500-2?
Cheers for the review mate. Am getting one.
Cool vid bro, I think your compression is set high tho, your voice volume kept going up and down a lot.
Yeah I had some funky settings when I shot this. Thanks for the tips!

Do you need internet access to operate or can this operate without WiFi?
You dont need wifi to operate this. Wifi just allows you to control it through your phone
Kevin Yee work with Alexa?
Ok. Thank you 😊
If it only covers 360 sq feet, will it defeat the purpose to use it in a classroom?
Yeah I probably wouldn't recommend this if you have to cover a whole classroom. It's better to get a bigger air filter
Measure the area of your classroom and divide it by 360 to find out how many C545s to buy.
best to have 1 on front and 1 in back, if your classrooms are like ours then windows plus doors are opened most of the day and defeats the purpose
Purchased one - the blue tooth just won’t come on! Came on at first no problem.
It doesn’t use Bluetooth it uses wifi

Whats difference with bed bath winix 6300 - 2
One big problem the filters are extinct.
go to winix website they are out of stock only
Measure the filter and get another brand on Amazon or Home Depot. I was able to find a compatible “Fellows” brand HEPA filter.
