  • Hey there y'all! So we are back with the second part of our reaction to Jinjer. This time we are hitting up the LIVE performance of Teacher, Teacher. Will I like it more? Will I like it less? Watch and find out!
Jinjer is a Ukrainian metal band known for their progressive sound, blending elements of groove metal, hardcore, and djent with Tatiana Shmayluk’s powerful and versatile vocals. Their song "Teacher Teacher" is one of their standout tracks, delivering a heavy and dynamic experience. Lyrically, the song critiques outdated, oppressive educational systems and societal norms, encouraging rebellion and self-expression. The live version of "Teacher Teacher" intensifies this message, with the band’s raw energy and Tatiana's impressive vocal transitions between growls and clean singing. Their performance captivates the audience, blending technical precision with high-octane emotion.

If you want to see an earlier live recording, I recommend their performance of "Who is Gonna Be the One".

IMO this song is one of the few which live versions (official or else) are NOT better than studio/OMV version.
It's absolutely not common with Jinjer. I can only name a couple another songs which studio versions are preferable - Pisces, I Speak Astronomy, well, No Hoard Of Value, maybe something else...
But in most cases good live version is preferable than studio version.
This one is very solid though. It's not better than OMV but it's a good showcase of how confident the band is on the stage.
It seems Rob prefers more straighforward metal/music than this one.
If so I have the good and the bad news for you about Jinjer.
The good news is the fact that Jinjer has more straightforward music. If you'd try something older than Pisces you'll find many tracks with vibes of Lamb Of God (but with a mix of many other influences). Cloud Factory is an album full of bangers, you could like it.
The bad news is the fact that Jinjer become more and more progressive. Less LoG vibes, more vibes of Opeth, Gojira, Meshuggah. Two previous albums were very proggy. The upcoming album will be proggy as well for sure (as far as we heard 3 songs already). And at their current tour with Hanabie Jinjer mostly performs the newer songs.

The first time i heard a song by Jinjer, it was a reaction ( Rebecca the vocal atlete)
And of course it was Pisces, i became an instant fan, and every song i heard, i like it, a year later they came to my country (4 days before the covid quarantine)
They are awesome live performers, i feel honored to watch listen and enjoy each second,
    Enjoy the october show!!

Jinjer shines in their live performances. Saw them tonight in Toronto. They were flawless. I agree with 1stCainite react to "Who is Gonna be the One" (Live, Napalm Records) to see a masterclass of rock show.
