The reason why Heracles manages to come back a final time even after all his lives have been destroyed can be explained by mythology. In Greek mythos, Zeus is known for constantly cheating on his wife Hera and fathering numerous children outside of his wedlock. Because Zeus is like 100X more powerful than her (at least), Hera can't directly go after him so intead, she takes revenge on the women Zeus has slept with (wether it was consensual or not) and the children he fathered, often killing them in horrible fashion and sometimes even worse whenever she feels like it. Heracles is one those children. He was named after Hera herself (*Hera*cles) but out of all the children Zeus fathered with another woman, he was the one Hera straight-up hated the most. From birth, she had tried to kill him, sending two snakes to murder him, but has always failed. Years later, after Heracles got married and had two children, Hera saw this as an opportunity and took her revenge: she cursed Heracles with madness, causing to murder his wife and kids with his bare hands. When he came back to his senses, he was beyond horrified. The famous Twelve Labors were born out of his desire to atone, he wanted to be punished and so submitted to all sorts of humiliations and impossible tasks. The death of his wife and kids remained in his mind long after his death, which is why he's so hellbent on protecting Illya. She reminds him of his daughter and thus the family he unwillingly massacred and so swore to protect her at all costs. That's why he simply stands there while Gilgamesh shoots at him. He fears that if starts going all-out, Illya will just straight-up be obliterated in the ensuing fight, either accidentally by Gil (or worse himself) or because Gil will target her since as a Master, if she dies then Heracles disappears. It's also why, despite having lost all his lives, Heracles briefly comes back one final time. By killing Illya, Gilgamesh made him relive the moment he killed his wife and kids and thus filled him with the desire for revenge.
Just now noticed that cross design on Illya's sleeve, and while I'm sure it's patterned after Kiritsugu's Command Seal, I can only imagine she ordered Sella to make it for her, since surely they don't encourage remnants of Kiritsugu in that castle...
Welp, Nasu (the creator) pretty much confirmed that Gilgamesh could solo both the Zero and Stay night cast in one night if he was serious about the war and not a total egocentric asshole. The likes of him and Karna are on some bullshit levels of OP considering they are regular Lambda servants.
karna is a lot more balanced cause he takes up absurd amounts of magical energy to power so normally he would he only be able to fight for like a minute or 2 before his master ran out. Gil on the other hand takes way less mana in compassion since the GOB is a more efficient method of combat.

Haha you'll be so annoyed if you see what they said before watching the HF movies. They said UBW has lots of romance and they didn't like it, at the end, they just said they don't care.
@@eightthgie4579 Dude, that is a lie. Gilgamesh was winning until Ishtar appeared and closed the Gates of Babylon leaving Gilgamesh with no means to continue fighting.

It's funny thinking how any Servant from any Lostbelts can just stomp both Zero and Stay Night's HGW if they want.
What are you even talking about?
Other than the lostbelt kings only a few selected servants can match the servants of zero and stay night lol
