There was an interesting concept brought up in one of your previous videos as part of a longer question about the fairness of weight classes in combat sports. Without asking directly the question introduced the concept of "height class" among other things. Although it wasn't part of your answer, I thought examination of that concept could be interesting.
Do you think height class could be an interesting alternative way to stratify fighters in combat sports? Or do you think the results would be similar to existing open competition, i.e. the biggest guy wins?
Personally, while I recognize several reasons weight class is preferable to height class, I'm mostly curious about the expected result. Obviously some sports, such as wrestling, weight plays a bigger role and I doubt delineation by height class would yield interesting results; however in sports like boxing or taekwondo, where reach is considered a significant advantage, I think it could.
I'm not an expert though, so, if you see things comment, I'm interested in your opinion. Thanks in advance.

We all have that violence inside that makes this possible, and a violent attitude can overwhelm an otherwise more skilled or stronger opponent if they aren't prepared to fight (to a degree. If you're skilled and drilled, you can react sensibly to the initial violent attack as to not suffer debilitating damage). Hmm I don't know. I agree Bruce would struggle with modern professional fighters but I think Floyd's style is very much oriented to exploiting the rules of a boxing match. For the same reason that I think a lot of his opponents in the ring such as Pacquiao would beat him in a real fight where it's less about moving around and racking up points. I don't think Mayweather would know how to deal with kicks, elbows, grappling techniques, dirty fighting techniques etc and he hasn't got the aggressive punching style that would render all of that obsolete. It may be more competitive than people think.

Man, Bruce Lee was a very interesting man, but fanboys don't realize that he NEVER fought competitively. There were competitions at the time. He never participated. His notion of putting his skill to test was fighting tough guys in the street. Compared to actual fighters, tough guys are easy prey for anyone with a little practice. I've said it before, Jet Li and Chuck Norris have much, much more actual fighting experience. Either of them could teach wipe the floor with Bruce. Man Bruce filmed in Thailand and when invited to go watch Muay Thai he was not interested lol, that to me speaks volumes about how much he actually knew about fighting. If you follow Bruce's story you see even he admitted that he was unprepared for a real challenge after his Wong Jack Man fight, and that was probably the closest he ever came to an actual fight, and actual witnesses describe that one as being pretty much a brawl.

I think you're spot on with the weight classes, but I've been saying this for a while, they should open up a "free-for-all" division, no weight class, no gender requirements, no PED testing, any two mutual combatants could be licensed to compete against each other. Not saying we would get the most competitive fights, but purely for entertainment purposes, It would be an easy avenue for celebrities to compete as well, again for entertainment.

The shortest 1 was DC and Randleman at 5'10 with Randleman being juiced to the absolute maximum. In fact, these 2 were the only heavyweight champ in history below 6'1. Nearly all champs were 6'1-6'4. And of course Tim Sylvia who was like 6'8 or something. In fact, almost half the champs were 6'4 and above with francis, stipe, sylvia, werdum, JDS.

In my country ,Romania, there were some news in the papers and on TV about a japanese guy that was expert in Japanese Jiu Jitsu. He beat 5 gypsies that atacked him.And there is a story about this famous strong man, called The Mighty Atom that was proficient at Japanese Jui Jitsu too.He beat 25 people that atacked him.I do not know if this is truly real(maybe it is,maybe it is not).Another documented situation is about Grand Master Hideyuki Ashihara(Ashihara Karate) that almost killed 5 people that atatcked him on the streets of Rio.And about Grand Master Jon Bluming(Kyokushin Budokai) that beat 5 people in a similar situation. And numerous, and numerous counts of advanced practitioners or Karate masters that used their art to defend against multiple opponennts. All those people have in common one thing:they practiced MA(and we can include here Krav Maga) that developed ,not their fighting capabilities ,but their awareness.Sure you can be a good cage-fighter ,but cage-fighting has a flaw:it does not develop awareness that is crucial in a self defence situation. You can use MMA to defend yourself but if you defend against multiple attackers like you fight in the cage you could end up dead.Just my opinion.

removing the weakest that is probably good idea. But what about removing the strongest which is a bigger threat and probably the one who leads them first? And I think whatever one does one should not let oneself be surrounded, or taken to the ground. Like you said attack as quickly as possible with hits that will deliver debilitating blow instantly but is also fast enough simple enough and easy to disguise. I'm no martial artist and I never been in such situation and really the most important fact in this fight would be psychology of the fight which someone who has no experience (and in case of fighting multiple opponents one would need to have quite a bit of skill) not just physically but psychologically it is a difficult thing to do. If the opponents are untrained they might have their jaw exposed. punch to the jaw or if one has an opportunity in the throat would be a good start if oneself has at least some training. kicks to the groin are very painful but a very strong opponent might fight through them. Hit to the liver is probably even more painful than hit to the groin but it takes a second before opponent will react. Still if immediately followed by hit to the jaw or the throat will probably take out that opponent. solar plexus are good target. but besides all of that one needs to be well versed in other things as well if one has only the shots I mentioned and nothing else that might not be enough. carrying a pepper spray might be more useful than anything else but slight amount of pepper spray will go back at you if there is a strong wind directed towards you. also one can realistically beat maybe four opponents not ten at less one has at least a strong pepper spray or a weapon.

    • @RamseyDewey

In group fighting, how quickly you can take out the first guy is far more important than anyone’s individual skill. If you try to take out the toughest guy first, it’s going to take more time, more effort, and more attention. During that time, the other team is beating you. Numbers matter far more than skill in team fights. Take out one, any one of them that you can, and the rest will fall.
