  • If you've ever wondered how to create patterns those elegant stand collar looks seamlessly integrated with the bodice, you're in the right place. Necklines are extended upwards beyond the neck, so it looks like a stand collar. But there’s no seam around the neck. They are cut as part of the bodice pattern by extending it. In this video, I show you how to draft Built-up necklines with bodice block patterns. And I also show you dart manipulation for this particular design.
    Learn how to extend your necklines upwards to create that stand collar effect without any seams around the neck. Explore the art of dart manipulation as we create a captivating design that's both fashionable and functional.

    My name is Jin Kim and I have been a professional pattern maker for over 20 years.
    While I had one-on-one teaching besides my full-time work, I could teach only a few people. So, I created a RUclips channel in 2021 to reach out to more people so that they can get benefits from my experience.
    This channel is all about pattern makings. You’re in the right place if you are a young professional or a fashion student who wants to improve your pattern-making skills.

    Thank you, Jin. I love this pattern. I did a basic one, but when I tried to manipulate the darts, I really struggled with cutting the piece that I was trying to turn. I looked at the Padsystemmanual, and I can do this on basic shapes, but it never works with my patterns, and I don't know what I am doing wrong. Would you be willing to do a video where you demonstrate how this is done in Padsystem? That would be so useful. Thank you!

      @PatternStudio101  23 дня назад +1

      When I make pattern tutorial videos, I use PAD system but consider for people who don't use computer system. So it might not be the same way when I actually use PAD to make patterns. PAD system has funtions to create darts or transfer the darts, but I don't use those features when I make these videos. If you can make a short video on what you want to try and what didn't work, and post on my Facebook group, then I'll take a look and will reply. There are other PAD experts there you can get some help. Thank you.

    Hi! I love this tutorial. Should we use the same method with a knitted fabric? Or how we should make the pattern for that kind of fabrics? I mean like creating t-shirts and such. Thanks!

      Yes, you should have some sort of opening. Can be a zipper or button.

      Before you make built-up neck line, widen the neck width on your bodice bolck and make it from there. Thank you!

    Do i need to shape the neck before i put in the neck dart or do the neck dart then shape the beck

    • @PatternStudio101
      @PatternStudio101  3 месяца назад

      If you transfer the dart from the chest to the neck, then you can shape the neck first and then transfer the dart.

    Can you transfer the waist dart to the neck dart

    • @PatternStudio101
      @PatternStudio101  8 месяцев назад

      Find the apex and extend the waist dart to the apex. Draw a line from the apex to the neckline. Close the waist dart. Then you will have a neck dart. Hope this helps.
