I would ah it’s probably like 50/50???? Idk, you can kinda tell based on what their little speech bubble says while they are still doing the thinking thing, if that makes sense.
if they are moving their bubble will appear first the first time you see them, if you already talked to them or saw them hanging out and then they have a bubble thats when you know it's about somtehing stupid

A few times it came up its either because of a fight they had with another villager, a disagreement rather, or buying an item they might already have, one of my villagers jay said that another villager butch said his catchphrases heyyy was weird, and so i clicked A on him and asked me ti change his catch phrase, and Julian has asked me about something that wasn't in his style, and will give you the item no matter what choice you pick for him.
