If the man could see into the future to behold the present condition of his palatial mansion, I guess he would have been contented with a bungalow. I hope he was able to transfer his wealth to generations after him and I hope the society can learn a thing or two from stories like this.
The Victorian antique dresser in the upper chamber room is an heirloom. All those record books, phone and furniture should be restored and not allowed to be touched to avoid deterioration.
It saddens my heart the way we neglect historical buildings and other treasures. What I see in this building is not a proper way of preserving treasures, rather it is the way of depletion and gradual destruction. On assumption that the family of Adebisi are incapable of maintaining the building, what stops Oyo state government and or Ibadan Council taking over this property for preservation, and disallowed it and constituents from gathering dust? Fellow Ibadan sons and daughters, what can we do to reverse this wonton destruction of our treasures and attract tourism to Ibadan city.
This is interesting! However, it is a pointer that nothing last forever. Man in his glory is like a flower that blossom in the morning... But wither in the evening.
Excellent suggestion/idea 👍. I gree with you man mi, d problem is the So called Thiefiotician that are running d affairs of d state will never ever do something like that. They can't even think of it when they will not see money thief from it. Such a Heritage building.
Wao! This house is what Yorubas use as proverbs that MA KO ILE MI BI ILE ADEBISI ESU A I NI KO NKANKAN NIYE. This is a big lesson for us on Earth, see the house of the richest millionaire some years past, it's now look like garbage site only the architectural design that is left. This World is totally vanity upon vanity, however I have learned a lesson from this video, I need to construct a small place in my compound as my burial ground.
This is my first time Of coming across your works... You are a really so gifted in making new generation like us know more about our past historical event
There was no gate fens in Early 90s wen I use to go play my pankey ball There 😂😂 so so beautiful back then an the mosque opposite also an hope that hold man renting us kekee still there 😂😂😅 hi owe that man some money oo
This is a wonderful video and being a student of Architecture, it gives me an Insight into Our Traditional Architecture. Our Wealthy people in the past. Continue with the good work. If we begin to look inward, we would found lots of things that are worth showing to the rest of the world. Long Live Ayọ̀
Wow! kudos for this good work. It almost felt like I went there in person. Keep it up. This is the first tme I am watching your videos and I subscribed immediately. I wish Icould like this a thousand times!
An ibadan proverb says "Boasting that you can build your house like replica of Adebisi will tantamount to you not building anything in the end of the day." The people that time saw the house ad the most standard and except you were extremely rich, you shouldn't aspire that kind of dream. So they tell you to start small and work your way to the top. The English equivalent of that is "Cut your coat according to your cloth"
Why cant his children renovtes this buidung or restructure it and lwt it out? This reminds me of late MKO Abiolas properties, acquiring a lot of things thinking u will leave it for ur unborn generation doesnt really worrh it sometimes This is a lesson for our africa politicians stealing uncountable money hoping they will leave it for their unborn generation to come Its all VANITY Give ur children quality education Let them work for their own money
Are you originally from Ibadan? hit me up if so, maybe we can join hand together and buy off this property turn it to something better before it disappear on surface of the Earth.
My question is who was the architect that drew this mansion? Who were the builders? Were they European or Africans? If this was built in 18 century then we need more indepth story about the construction.
I'm disappointed no government of Oyo State has thought it fit to acquire these properties and refurbish them, with the hope of preserving the heritage and history of these successful sons of Ibadan. These would make fantastic museums and generate good tourism revenue for the state.
I thought of that immediately I started watching this video, the people in government nowadays only think of their family and what they could steal before they leave the office, they do not care about future or development.
Hmmmmm vanity upon vanity all is vanity , the man tried in his life time he his like moshood kashimawo abiola those that are successful in their businesses
Imagine the people that died wanting to build a house like this back in the days seeing it in it's present state...omo las las na vanity this life be.
The amount of treasures in this building alone...chai! ....that book alone would be worth thousands of dollars in an auction if it were in the U.S
Not only USA , the whole of Europe, some part of Europe , UAE, Kuwait
If the man could see into the future to behold the present condition of his palatial mansion, I guess he would have been contented with a bungalow. I hope he was able to transfer his wealth to generations after him and I hope the society can learn a thing or two from stories like this.
I love how wealthy Ibadan men build houses in a way that shows they want to accommodate people

Passed away in the year 1938, and his house is still standing, I can only say waw
This place should just be turned to a museum already
To think this is close to my grandfather’s house in Ayeye gives me chills. I miss Ibadan. Adebisi Idiikan popularly called.
It saddens my heart the way we neglect historical buildings and other treasures.

This building can actually be turned to a museum, so as to keep it's heritage

The building could have be used as a library, or donated to UI as an extention campus
This is my first time Of coming across your works... You are a really so gifted in making new generation like us know more about our past historical event

One of his children should just restore this building, turn it to an office so it just doesn't rot over time. Building in & out is still solid.

Paid tax for the whole city? An uncommon legend, how pleasant it will be if the family can make better use of that mansion

Is the building accessible to anybody? Because I will love to visit
Yes I will also like to visit too

Ask all the past Governors of the state.

The building could have been renovated and converted into commerce house ibadan to serve entire Nigeria
Dey should have renovated d mansion
My question is who was the architect that drew this mansion? Who were the builders? Were they European or Africans? If this was built in 18 century then we need more indepth story about the construction.
The house was built by europeans. The building at the back was built by locals
