Same. Grew up homeless in Texas and now I travel all around the world. First in my family to own a home, lol. The amount of friends I lost because I became "bougie" or "uptight" is incredible. All I did was marry a nice girl and we both got jobs, then better jobs, etc.
There is a black guy I got a job for as I knew the owner of the business well and put a good word in for him. He got the job. All his unemployed black friends gave him shit because a white guy got him a job and that’s slavery apparently. You can’t make that shit up. A black man gets a job and somehow he’s still got to be brought low by his own people. No wonder there is hopelessness in black communities because it’s their own that cause it more often than not
Carbon copy here bro. Came out of the ghetto in Hampton Roads VA. Worked hard, escaped the hood. Married to a woman that came from a middle class family. Her father has been the best example I've ever had of building and striving for better. I also became the first in my family to buy a home, built fresh from the ground up. When my family members have their cookouts and dinner gatherings, I find out the next day. I've always been a humble dude and kept myself grounded. My wife's family always showed me mad love. Her father is always in my corner. I don't sit around beefing about race this and race that. Life is too good and too short. Your situation and mine proves Sowell right. My family maintains the broken English, negative mindset, dislike of anyone not of their culture. My wife's family has many members with college degrees, own homes, speaks correctly. Her young family members are going to colleges and my family members are going to jail. It's night and day.
Lot of people calling Dr Sowell a genius. I know why - because he's so impressive. But this just goes to show how standards have fallen in general. Truthfully he's just a great academic who's put in the hard work, done his homework and is able to articulate things really well. Not genius, just takes hard work and willpower to get there.
AWESOME book.. never been much of a reader, articles and small stuff sure but full length books I’d struggle to sit still. This book was easy to sit still and lock in and I genuinely enjoyed soaking in the information
I would do almost anything to meet Mr. Sowell and talk with this great American.God bless Thomas Sowell and his family. He is a true American icon. GOAT.
I have two children, now 16 and 14, and I have shown then many of Sowell's talks and short videos. It has helped them to resist all the leftist social crap that runs in their schools, through their teachers and administrators/directors. I thank Sowell for opening my eyes to so much actual history, and giving me the gift of truth to share with my children.
Imagine the impact that watching this man could have in a classroom full of kids of every race. White kids would see a well spoken intelligent black man that chips away at any learned racism they hold, and black kids would see a well spoken intelligent black man being respected and listened to by a white man. What a great inadvertent message of equality this discussion presents. Yet I bet not a single high schooler today knows who this is.
It's ironic the discrimination that he he eloquently dispels is actually used against him. There's a reason the likes of Thomas hasn't caught big mainstream traction. Clearly it's not a lack in qualification.
Comedian, Jeff Foxworthy is very famous for his “You might be a Redneck” comedy routine. Years ago a very funny black comedian (I don’t remember his name) did a similar routine, where he actually credited Mr. Foxworthy. The black comedian simply replaced “Redneck” with “Ghetto”.
Thomas Sowell used to hobnob with Milton Friedman, a Nobel Prize winner in Economics. This guy knows his stuff like no other! I admire him tremendously.
Great book, THOROUGHLY researched and exhaustively documented. A great read of very dense, well-reasoned historical content. Brilliant. It should be required reading for an upper-level high school course, and mandatory.
Genuine intellectuals don't go around announcing themselves as such because they're too busy actually thinking. The pseudo-intellectuals make lots of noise trying to impress each other with twisted language and warped logic. Thomas Sowell is the real thing. He's a National treasure.
There is another class of "Red Necks" in the American culture, we are mostly conservative Christians that love this country and will serve her and the people no matter who they are. We just started to call ourselves that during the Regan administration.
"Shorts" that's a serious disappointment... may LibertyPen never use that format again... or they will have to answer to the bridge-keeper in Monty Pythons Holy Grail.

I think the book Sowell is referring to is "White Gold" by Giles Milton which is about Islamic slave traders capturing white Europeans and selling them at markets in Algiers and Morocco in the early 18th century.
Love how Sowell asks the question why? Then looks at as many historical facts and examples as possible to try and explain. His work should be mandatory teaching in schools.
Thomas Sowell is that gift in the corner everyone is secretly scared to let out the box, thats why he's not very known amongst our community GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER, WHAT A GREAT MIND, AND HIS I.Q. IS STILL SHARP
I recently spoke about Thomas Sowell and specifically the similarities between Black Culture and Redneck Culture. Bet yall can guess how it went: I got his with a 1 min ban from speaking to the AI. Strangest thing is, it literally asked me how Thomas Sowell described the similarities between the two first.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people only listen to liberals or only listen to conservatives. I try hard not to do that. I go by intelligence, not ideology, and Sowell is at that top of my cognitive list.
It is interesting to read about how when the "redneck blacks" were moving north for jobs in factories, northern blacks in the "Old Settler Social Club" of Chicago, who were more educated, and had been in their northern city for generations, didn't want - nor like - these noisy, uneducated, crude, rude southern blacks coming north into their communities. Ida B. Wells saw this in Chicago, and it happened in Detroit and other large cities as well. Northern blacks in cities that experienced a large influx of southern blacks coming north had issues with these newcomers from the south. The northern blacks had worked hard to fit in, to have good jobs, and be business owners. These rowdy southern black newcomers were causing trouble, and possibly making life harder for the northern blacks who had not had problems with the non-black communities before. You don't hear about this part of the Great Migration. It is VERY hard to find this information online.
Baltimore City is a good example of Inner City Rednecks. Most of the cultures and colors are rednecks. The Korean people have some what taken on the redneck vibe, not too much. Interesting to see.

Are you joking, dishonest, or uninformed? Black people are doing terribly in the north and south; it's one of the few things Americas can agree on. (The causes of that poor performance, however, are where the consensus breaks down.)
Change of subculture. The problem is that white liberals enable negative black culture. Keep em angry, emotional, and sensitive, and they stay in power
I have never heard of this man until I stumbled upon this video and I really appreciate it, but as a 33-year-old redneck white boy living in the sticks I disagree with the fact that rednecks are the less educated, it has nothing to do with education but more about just culture in the way of life. No matter what race that we are.
@@greezythumb no part of the problem is the dismissal of the important of education and even some shaming of people who take their education seriously.
I don’t hate other people and their success. I simply don’t want the majority of their material things and lifestyles. And numbers have little to do with this, Mr Sowell. This is about extreme racial/cultural differences.
hatred of jews are deeper and spiritual, they are the people of the bible, they will be turned back to God at the end of this age, other than that, great interview
Some thoughts on this: The old and new testaments say nothing against slavery. The acts of genocide, infanticide, and incest described in the Old Testament may have been the cause for some to persecute people who worship a god that commended such atrocities be committed. How could pirates in North Africa have enslaved more people than an international industrial scale of slave trade motivated by profit from selling slaves around the world?
I agree 100PERCENT! It should be in reverse order! I've learned vital info fr T.Sowell compared to All Sharpton'race, baiting fot years while he's being financially rewarded for it! Blessings

@@queensapphire7717, and yet, it's not just American blacks. They exist in many countries that weren't exposed to redneck culture.
All black men are the same ?
Ask not when slavery began, rather ask when freedom began!!
This is my favorite Sowell book, having grown up on both sides of the tracks in Alabama and in Academia.
Ok what about Ben Carson
geez this guy gets it...just sticks to the facts. After 5 minutes of listening to him I forgot he was black.
You sound like a racist.😐
This is one of my favorite interviews with Mr. Sowell.
AWESOME book.. never been much of a reader, articles and small stuff sure but full length books I’d struggle to sit still. This book was easy to sit still and lock in and I genuinely enjoyed soaking in the information
Me too. I read maybe 4-5 books a year is all. I have read at least three of Sowell's books so far :)
@@jimmoses6617sad,
Watching this was a good experience. It strengthens me as a black man to be myself. This was positive!
This man is an American hero and a national treasure! I love him!
Im 42 years old Portuguese male. Bought this book and love it. This gentlemen is a genius .
I would do almost anything to meet Mr. Sowell and talk with this great American.God bless Thomas Sowell and his family. He is a true American icon. GOAT.
Isn't it wonderful mr. Sowell has written all these books?
One of the greatest treasures America has ever known, Dr. Thomas Sowell.
I plan to use many of his books and videos for my childrens history lessons.
@@jimmoses6617wtf??🤣🤣
You are brainwashing your children
Yeah, don’t teach them real history just whitewashed history. Why not learn everything about all history’s and stop using just what you want to hear?
Thomas Sowell, one of the greats.
GREAT BLACK DIKKKHEADS>>>>AND>>>>>> ALL JEWS HAD SLAVES
One of the great white supremacists supporters who cherry picked history to fit his agenda of white supremacists
It’s a really tragedy that most of my generation is not familiar or have had the privilege of being exposed to Thomas Sowell
Public schools won't bc it goes against the current bs narrative being perpuated by liberal media and Biden administration. I wish they would though
It's ironic the discrimination that he he eloquently dispels is actually used against him. There's a reason the likes of Thomas hasn't caught big mainstream traction. Clearly it's not a lack in qualification.
And that is why you will not see that. The government doesn't want you to get along. They make money off of racism and poverty.
If you could only include WOMEN in your vision.
What a world this could be.
One of the most important social intellectuals of the 20th century.
Thomas Sowell used to hobnob with Milton Friedman, a Nobel Prize winner in Economics. This guy knows his stuff like no other! I admire him tremendously.
Thomas Sowell and Jordan Peterson would make for some interesting conversation.
That'd be a dream
Great book, THOROUGHLY researched and exhaustively documented. A great read of very dense, well-reasoned historical content. Brilliant. It should be required reading for an upper-level high school course, and mandatory.
"When did slavery begin? You're asking the wrong question. When did freedom begin?"
"...and everything depends on which wins out in the end." -T. Sowell. Our burden, our job, is to ensure that truth and reason wins out in the end.
-T. Sowell panders to those who don't want the truth , that is what he's paid to do
One of my inspirations and I am glad to have come across his writings and books. RIp Sir
Genuine intellectuals don't go around announcing themselves as such because they're too busy actually thinking. The pseudo-intellectuals make lots of noise trying to impress each other
with twisted language and warped logic. Thomas Sowell is the real thing. He's a National treasure.
I have this book and have been trying to get so many people to read it.
There is another class of "Red Necks" in the American culture, we are mostly conservative Christians that love this country and will serve her and the people no matter who they are. We just started to call ourselves that during the Regan administration.
It's a darn good book
I aspire to be the kind of man Dr. Sowell is.
You tube ! never disappoints
"Shorts" that's a serious disappointment... may LibertyPen never use that format again... or they will have to answer to the bridge-keeper in Monty Pythons Holy Grail.
Im glad i knew this back in 1975.
The book is hard to find but I found a used one and it’s amazing,
I have so much respect for you. They need to be playing this and school for the children. There would not be so much anger in them,if they knew the truth.
So tech the bank kids whites had it worse than you ?
Truth about what ?
Fantastic book.
Envy is worse than jealousy a jealouse man may work harder an envious man will destroy everything you own or have built just so you can`t have it.
*AVARICE:* _I want what you have for myself._
*ENVY:* _I would rather destroy what you have, for having more than me,.. than to have what you have for myself?!_
@@davidhunt313 I´d add the words "everything of higher worth" inside the avarice description
Love to hear this man Speak the Truth.....
He gives examples never goes in-depth
Thomas Sowell is that gift in the corner everyone is secretly scared to let out the box, thats why he's not very known amongst our community GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER, WHAT A GREAT MIND, AND HIS I.Q. IS STILL SHARP
This Man Is a Treasure! Truely Given by God to ALL OF US! Bless him and his family.
Very interesting Brotha....
I wish Mr Sowell would live forever! 💕
folding the facts like an origami swan while endearing to those whose biases reflect the folds.
Every black
American needs to study this man
I recently spoke about Thomas Sowell and specifically the similarities between Black Culture and Redneck Culture.
Bet yall can guess how it went: I got his with a 1 min ban from speaking to the AI. Strangest thing is, it literally asked me how Thomas Sowell described the similarities between the two first.
Legendary man here ❤🙏🏿
Thomas Sowell is a national treasure
This guy is so smart and full of common sense
amazing, intelligent man with great common sense.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people only listen to liberals or only listen to conservatives. I try hard not to do that. I go by intelligence, not ideology, and Sowell is at that top of my cognitive list.
"Results."
Most appreciated.
Dr. Thomas Sowell is the smartest man on the planet.
So profound
Wow, this man is a absolute revelation!
What is the book on European slavery that Thomas Sowell mentions 6:10?
Baltimore City is a good example of Inner City Rednecks. Most of the cultures and colors are rednecks. The Korean people have some what taken on the redneck vibe, not too much. Interesting to see.

Wow this man why didn’t I know about him

Why do we have to differentiate between any race or color, as a Irish person whos been discriminated for over 800 years and now live in a perfect democracy, I cant understand why the best person for the job should not be the best person for the job, male or female
National hero, national treasure, blah blah blah. We love high levels of emotionalism at all levels. Prior to the Internets take off, very few people spoke of this gentleman, let alone heard of him. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc, has always been our go to leaders and inspiration. Stop it.
My hero.
Legendary, this man!
Oh, Thomas, dont worry, I am brillant and understand everything.
If I could meet one American for dinner, it would be Thomas Sowell.
How do you explain the prospering areas of black people that migrated from the south? I thought they brought the culture with them?
Are you joking, dishonest, or uninformed? Black people are doing terribly in the north and south; it's one of the few things Americas can agree on. (The causes of that poor performance, however, are where the consensus breaks down.)
Or the prospering blacks still in the south.
They've set negative aspects of the subculture aside.
Yes I am a true patriot
Which part of this talk did you agree with the most ?
Yes.
The part where the black man is talking
Facts💯
He was right!!!!
What's the solution?
Change of subculture. The problem is that white liberals enable negative black culture. Keep em angry, emotional, and sensitive, and they stay in power
If your public library doesn't have the book suggest they get it.
I have never heard of this man until I stumbled upon this video and I really appreciate it, but as a 33-year-old redneck white boy living in the sticks I disagree with the fact that rednecks are the less educated, it has nothing to do with education but more about just culture in the way of life. No matter what race that we are.
That's pretty much what he was saying. It's a culture thing. Not race or education or any of the other excuses for failure that are used
@@greezythumb no part of the problem is the dismissal of the important of education and even some shaming of people who take their education seriously.
@@strategygaming5830 That's also rooted in culture.
We, the British, destroyed slavery world-wide due to power of the Royal Navy
I don’t hate other people and their success. I simply don’t want the majority of their material things and lifestyles. And numbers have little to do with this, Mr Sowell. This is about extreme racial/cultural differences.
Legend!
What is the date of this interview?
Is there a link to the full interview?
wise man!
hatred of jews are deeper and spiritual, they are the people of the bible, they will be turned back to God at the end of this age, other than that, great interview
Sowell has great credibility as a black man regarding this subject. If a white man said these things, it wouldn't be recieved as well.
Some thoughts on this: The old and new testaments say nothing against slavery. The acts of genocide, infanticide, and incest described in the Old Testament may have been the cause for some to persecute people who worship a god that commended such atrocities be committed. How could pirates in North Africa have enslaved more people than an international industrial scale of slave trade motivated by profit from selling slaves around the world?
why do people keep saying people of the Jewish Faith are a Race and not a religion
Thomas Sowell, I am sad to say it has indeed maintained a trend of a sizable disaster, but hopefully the counter trend will win.
Thomas Sowell should become a Canadian Prime Minister!!
Thomas Sowell now theres a highly intelligent man with common sense who has actually did extensive studies to come to his conclusions.
This man is a National Treasure
2:16 LOL
Planned Parenthood , during Covid ,got 80 billion in government funding , to keep the Stem Cells rolling in
Thomas Sowell should be required reading
He's seems really bright but thinking slavery ended is ignorant. It just found a new name. Income tax and fiat currency.
Bingo!
if immigrants are such hard workers, why do they need to go to another country and work hard. why not stay home and work hard
@7min - how about end the racist drug war (to fix black poverty)
1 has nothing to do with the other
I agree 100PERCENT! It should be in reverse order! I've learned vital info fr T.Sowell compared to All Sharpton'race, baiting fot years while he's being financially rewarded for it! Blessings
