Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, died aged 33 on Saturday September 19, 2015, of a heart attack. He was buried the same day in Bur Dubai's Umm Hurair cemetery, following funeral prayers at Zabeel Mosque at maghrib.
At the time, the Crown Prince of Dubai said “Today, I lost a best friend and a childhood companion, my dear brother Rashid. You will be missed.”

I did not know him, but something makes me feel like I did. It is tragic when one so full of life and promise of tomorrow leaves before we are ready to say goodbye. I did not know him, but I know what it feels like to say goodbye to my best friend in life. My heart goes out to Sheikh Hamdan and his family on the anniversary of Sheikh Rashid's death. This pains my heart. I know that pain I lost my sister but now I think of happy times we used to laugh so much. We could laugh all day only us got each other. I feel Faz and Rashid the same. I can’t bare seeing his pain tears and sweat. It makes me cry every time I watch it like now. I want to wipe his brow and kiss his tears away in the truly respectful compassionate way. He would have been beside you yesterday Faz saying enjoy Bro Happy Happy Birthday. We are all just as old as God intended us to be. When God calls us we have served our time on this earth.
