Growing up, we had a big wood cart for ground feed for our dairy cows and all the haylage, silage & earlage was fed via wheelbarrow to 120 cows in their stanchions. We went from that to a freestall barn & using mixer/feeders. What a change!!!
Mike great addition. Two things you may want to consider. 1 is mount a small Led light on the feed side of the cart. 2 which is very important is mount a good size fire extinguisher on the cart somewhere. Safety and prevention first.
If you ever want to cut down on the exhaust fumes there are kits to turn pretty much any small gas engine to propane that are easy to install and easily reversible. That thing is a game changer for not having to hand feed... it's like a feed Zamboni, LOL!
Yes.... the cows are getting there version of a coffee machine 😊😆. Your back is going to love you now...... just mind you'll need to work off the cals somewhere else 🤣. Nice purchase.. I would of loved something like that for barley and neeps. That was a chore 😫... few years ago now though and just bags for barley and silage bales now. Stay safe 🏴
Good for you guys Mike thats a nice unit. We had 2 that we would nose up against each other and fill them with the payloader. It took loading 2 of them twice to feed the all the milk cows and one more feed cart full for heifers. Those little gas engines accumulated so many hours. They had gear reduction boxes mounted right to the engine that gave trouble here and there but other than that I can't remember any other issues..in my lifetime anyway.
Looks like $$$ well spent ! You will and your knees and back over the coming years realy appreciate tht feeder cart they are so nice to use and also saves time ⏲️ especially when you running in harvest time much quicker and u can get bk too the fields faster to harvest after feeding . THT WAS a very nice kuhn mixer as well would be perfect for your farm.
Nice cart Mike. Your right the cows will adjust to the cart in a few days and the engine noise will be the new dinner bell. You also will get adjusted to it and feeding times will be cut in half. Best of luck with the new cart
@@mikep7810 I’m sure most anyone (including myself) would say the same about your farm. We just got a new Uebler 812 last fall, but that Val Metal one looks like it’s built a lot better than the Uebler.
Nice unit. I bet it will not be long before you have a small hopper extension added to it, so that you can be less precise with filling two scoops into it with the telehandler and not losing some on the ground. When I was a kid in the 1970’s we had electric versions of the feed wagons. They were nice, low noise, no smell and torquey as heck.
I tell you, everything you can do whit oilpressure is way. better than bloodpressure. You gonna like that thing for sure, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Looks good Mike you’ll get used to it fast and you’ll be flying around the barn in no time with it. I noticed the barn cleaner going in the background too. I love getting a couple things done at once.
Nice cart Mike I'm sure you'll like it. A guy gets pretty good at running them after awhile and yeah the cows will come running when you fire it up lol we usually run at half throttle or so don't need to run them wide open anyway.
I fed dry hay with the old silage cart after we got a Rissler TMR cart. That got the baled away from the gas engine. You'll love this. Anything to make daily chores smoother and easier is good.
Congrats! You'll wonder how you ever got along without it. One thing I found out over the years was stay ahead of the rust and it will treat you well for a long time. Enjoy!
Very nice! Is that a mixer or just a feeder? Oh and don’t forget to duck or you’ll be like the tool man when he goes down to his basement. Great video.
The feeder carts are nice. We have an older electric Weaver line prior to them going all stainless steel which was nice. As i mentioned just do not leave corn in it over night as it will eat it up.
We have the same cart we feed in a tie stall barn we just leave the cart rumning and put a long row in front of the cows instead of a pile in front of every cow. Just keep moving and let it come out
Looks brilliant but also looks like you need a hard hat a bit close now and then 😂 The cows will definitely get used to it and associate it with food Take care mate 👍👍
Sure looks wet and sloppy over by you Grumpy has ponds on his property. He will be mowing lawn before Groundhog Day the way it is looking. My Grandparents (and my Uncle's on my mother's side) had a cart very similar looking to that. My Uncle Gary was a really good mechanic and converted it to propane. They had a barn where the cows faced each other. Feeding them was a breeze; just down and back. Looks like your cows weren't freaked out by it at all.
I looked at the rissler twin screw tmr cart at the New York State farm show and that was a really sweet looking cart. I'm not sure who the local rissler dealer would be, plus we couldn't beat the price of this one
Probably too late for you to see this comment but l suggest you fill the front tires with something that will make them solid. Turning with a flat tire in the wrong place you can end up tipping it over.
Curious how it steers with the weight on the narrow steer tires? Our ueblers had the steer tires under the seat. Andy stopped by here this morning he was having the neighbor up around the corner do some sandblasting for him
Long have I waited for this video to drop, lol. Should make feeding a heck of a lot easier, your shoulders and back will thank you in the long run. Didn’t take the boss long to show up after he got home from school, lol. I remember those days getting home and seeing something “new” sitting in the yard.
Thats how I do it in the free stall but in the tie stall I'd rather give a cow a pile instead of putting silage under the water buckets and under the head divider
@@mikep7810 the water can make it really sloppy, when you feed in a straight line you also have to push the feed in, which gets heavy. Congratulations on the new cart, we have two ueblers now and they sure are a backsaver

A stationary TMR would be a good fit in the tie stall barn , can dump into with wheel loader from bags or silos
That would make a very nice addition
Nice feed cart
Thank you John
Looks like a learning curve that's for sure!
It actually hasn't been too bad. I can get through feeding pretty quick now
Nice looking feed cart 👌. They sure take some getting used to, but I'm sure you'll be flying through the mangers before too long

Nice cart Mike! You should look into vertablend mixers. They are about the same size as the feed cart but they can mix and feed out!
Thanks I'll have to check them out
Nice upgrade!

A nice addition. Better than forking for sure. But now you'll start getting soft. Lol
Haha I still have hay to stack in the hay mow to keep me from getting too soft

Cows didn’t freak out much which was surprising
A couple were a little spooked but have already gotten use to it
You'll be a push button farmer like the rest of them some day. Grandpa said lol
Haha I'll have to make up for it by stacking hay in the hay mow
Sure beats hauling corn silage with a basket from the armstrong unloading silo!
It sure does
I bought a heifer from the dispersal sale at the farm you bought the feed cart at
That's pretty cool. I'm glad you didn't buy the feed cart!
Nice addition, you guys ever toss the idea around on a mixed ration?
Thank you. I am for the idea but just trying to get everyone on board
Happy for you guys but I assume the other Farmer had sold his cows.
Yes he sold his cows
Probably going to find out you’re feeding more than you usually do because of the ease of it.
Yeah I think I got the hang of it where I can get the right amount down

Going to take awhile for the animals to get used to the motor.
It really didn't. They are already use to it and get excited when they hear it now. They know its time to eat
Why did you wait all these years to buy a power cart?
I don't know
@@mikep7810 I have used power carts for 35 years.
