      @Joe Joseph Never heard about reliability on the Ioniq. Some issues would be found since it's relatively new to the market. What are the issues?

    • @DoodleyDavid
      @DoodleyDavid 4 года назад +9

      Joe is just a hater. My fiancé has had one since 2018. We’ve had no issues at all! Take it in for all its services and it run wonderfully! Thinking of going plug in seeing our commutes to work are about 8 miles each way so we could use battery majority of the time and hardly use gas. Unlike my sonata which uses a lot of gas compared to ioniq.

      Joe Joseph was the worst car I ever owned full of electrical issues sat at the dealer for 3 months and I had to come trade loaner cars out every 100 miles they finally determined it needed an entire new wire harness after they changed it the issue still persisted. I traded it for my sonata and haven’t had an issue yet

    The way you ripped it around a corner and the highway assits got me way more excited about this than any other review. I was under the impression it was the "lame, practical" option I'd be forced into by the gas crisis, but now I could imagine some delightful road trips in an Ioniq without breaking the bank, either up front or at the pump.

    I've had this model for over a year after doing my research AND IT HAS PAID OFF!!!
    I get free L2 charging at work (free juice) and my daily commute is 26 miles round trip so I don't really charge at home unless I want to top it off. At this rate, I'll only fill it up with gas TWICE a year😁(don't use it for road trips but if I did, I know I could get 650+miles on the 11 gallon fuel tank). Literally no negatives. Hyundai App lets me Auto-Start car/Air Conditioner /heater which is Awesome!!! Audio is top of the line as shown in the video. I would definitely buy/recommend this car to all. Rebates, tax credits bring the price down like another $9K plus no gas equal $$$$😍

      You won't be disappointed if you haven't already, I came out of a tuned WRX, changed jobs to add a 120 mile round trip commute and decided it was time to drive something more responsible and this car can actually be pretty fun to drive. I've somewhat gotten into hypermiling too, it's so much fun to see how much mileage I can eek out of it. Also, the HDA is ABSOLUTELY worth it, it is amazing and lowers driver fatigue significantly for me.

    In the US, the 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid gives you up to $1100 cash back here in NY and up to $4500 federal tax credit. The Teslas give up to $2000 cash back from NY and $7000 federal tax credit.
    I ran the numbers on top of their warranty. Hyundai offers really well designed cars and sells them at extremely competitive price points.
    I had a decent offer for a trade-in and was considering either the Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid or the Elantra, but then I saw the 2021 Elantra and well... I think I'll wait a few more months before making my final decision.

      I don't know much about mpg but on the 535d I averaged 8.8l/100km or about 28mpg

      I mostly drove in the city and some freeways, up to 60mph

    • @Rubberfoxy

      @@Mark-eu6mc hi!
      I would be lying if I was saying the swap wasn't a huge difference.
      Owned the BMW for 3 years and if was a fine time. Damn nice riding comfort, power and torque and lots and lots of luxury gadgets. Being a 2014 model, you could tell it was aging though. By the time I sold it, it was almost 7 years old with 85k miles and I spend a lot of money on service and repairs. A lot! (EGR cooler blown, transmission oil leaking...)
      In the end the BMW was still a luxury sedan but also felt like an aging dinosaur to me.
      Since I live in Vienna which can be quite crowded, the smaller Hyundai fits my lifestyle much better. The smaller size makes it a mich better choice for the urban area and being a 2021 model you can tell it's a mmich more modern car than the Beemer.
      This and the 5year warranty who keeps me out of expensive repair bills sold it to me.
      Obviously it's build much cheaper, lots of Plastics but nothing rattles.
      The riding comfort and seats are fine for me so I'm all good

      @@JDMSwervo2001 Exactly. Mitsubishi is a big corporation and cars is just a side gig, while Nissan-Renault alliance quality is going down and down, I wouldn't be surprised if they go bankrupt this decade. Subaru, I hear their boxer engines always blow up head gaskets plus AWD vehicles are expensive to maintain and they waste more fuel because they're heavier. But the BRZ and WRX STI are really good vehicles.

      @Radu Diaconu I have a VW Jetta Mk4. Engine problems are filling my head at the moment. Thanks I'll try enjoy my mom's ranger. Though i despise automatic trans. Enjoy your car too man. But concerning Nissan, here in Africa they're strong especially the bigger vehicles. But they're very expensive to repair. Manual or auto it doesn't matter. Here in Mozambique Nissans are super expensive to maintain.

    • @DingasPro
      @DingasPro 4 года назад

      @Radu Diaconu Renault Duster is actually famous in South Africa because of their fuel efficiency. Renault actually is the most fuel efficient BRAND here in Southern Africa, not sure about the whole of Africa. The diesel engines are solid well build engines. Yea good move on maintaining your vehicle at independent shops. Dealerships lately have all these scams up their a-holes. Concerning the Mk4 Jetta, I've got the 1.6L naturally aspirated. It is a solid engine. It's one heck of a fun vehicle to drive on the highway cause of the 5 speed manual trans. I did have issues with mechanics here in Mozambique, my dad left the car with a mechanic after he had accidents but the engine still runs and runs. The AC doesn't work, the rear left door doesn't open at all, the rear right door doesn't lock, the central locking is busted, the front 2 doors can only be opened from the inside, the sunroof was broken by the mechanic but my dad only cares for the engine bay. Apart from that, it's a nice naturally aspirated engine. Parts for the engine are pretty cheap and its fuel economy isn't bad at all. I still get around 31MPG on the highway.

    Hi Topher- question...do you know how much(roughly) it costs to do an overnight charge ( 120v outlet, house plug) from 0% battery? thanks-- considering buying one but want to know the actual charging costs first

      I'm late but let's break out the math.
      The Ioniq has a 8.9 kWh battery, let's say 9 kWh to make the math easier.
      According to this IEEE paper*, charging efficiency at 120V is around 84%.
      Therefore, you'll need 9 kWh/.84 = 10.7 kWh to charge the car.
      The average cost of electricity in the US is 13.7¢/kWh**, so 10.7kWh * 13.7¢/kWh * $1 / 100¢ = $1.47.
      Therefore, you'll be paying $1.47/day, assuming you go from 0% to 100% everyday and you pay 13.7¢/kWh. That's $536.55/year.

      @@AdamWang19 thanks SO much Adam for your expert reply! Funny, I already have the car( got a great deal and leased) but the car has been in the service dept now for 3 weeks while they tried to determine why the car would no longer accept a charge. It's looking like a defective charger.

    it should have a liquid cooled hi voltage battery like the volt and li ion 12 volt battery set up like the nonplugin hybrid Ioniq has it only charge at 3.3 kw on level 2 most plug ins charge at 7.7kw can't use climate control while its charging doesn't have heat pump like Prius so it kicks the ice on to provide heat which wastes gas and creates premature engine wear i don't use the heat lolbecause it pisses me off
    the regen braking setup on this car is lame it could be fixed with a software update to have one pedal drive behavior as the teslas and the bolt have
    it needs a seat back pocket on drivers seat its noisier then a Prius but its funner to drive I can live with that have one & do enjoy it
    btw the euro spec and Australian versions have heated wheel and ventilated seats what gives
