12:23 what actually happened here is that the layered rotator has three layers that have lights lining them, and if you destroy those you defeat the boss. You technically had two left, but because Pearl destroyed the last light one, the boss was defeated.
Once you know this the boss becomes so funny, I once killed the thing with only 4 total rings broken at all. The Octavio splatling couldn't QUITE reach the top one without the extra break.

I just realized that this mode could’ve been the best 2 player co-op one screen, local play, or online mode. P2 would be p-drone, and they could shoot whenever they want, but side weapons are still a wait, and they have a special, but it’s not that good.
Co-Star Mode in Splatoon would be a wild experience itd be nice if 2P could manually activate moves rather than having the gauge / Step-Off Shards fill and do it for them

While Captain 3 is probably more skilled combat-wise, Pearl literally sings at two thousand times the frequency to cause physical harm to people, so Marina has to edit and drown out her voice in songs to prevent that from affecting people (according to Inkipedia). She also has broken equipment/glass just from singing as seen by her expletive song from OE, and caused a shockwave in a youth singing competition, AND saved the world twice just by screaming, essentially (once in OE and again in SO). While most of her power is shown when fighting things that could handle more than an average person, I believe she's fully capable of killing somebody with her voice alone.
Tried this run for myself, a few points: 1. If you want this run to be a challenge, don't use maximum hacks; it will trivialize the whole experience and make it less of a rigorous challenge, and more of a fun run you can try. 2. Focusing different pearl bombs/inkstrike is really really good, due to how bombs can scale with splash range and damage. 3. Take advantage of height; The ability to glide is really useful, and can make the earlier rounds much easier. 4: certain tower stages early game are doable, just be aware that you'll need at least 3 sources of damage, and that the tower is on the ground for splat bombs.
Killer Wail will move the turbine too, I've had that win stages like that for me while I focus on shooting the enemies more. Absolute WORST stage is the crosshairs stage where you have to defend two points and all that spawns are the snipers and sprinklers...it took me 13 dang minutes to do with the Dulies cause I had to keep running back and forth and also dealing with the snipers.
@@ShinKyuubi Coverage between crosshairs is evil. I just don't take it if I don't have the range to kill the snipers or just do everything from the middle platform... unless I need the early game membux or it has a chip that's too good to pass up.

I did this a few days ago with brella. I didn't think this would be a challenge because it's more effective than using your weapon, and I was right. I'm horrible with the brella so I just only picked drone chips and I just shredded through the spire.
Pearl taught me that tossing splat bombs or suction bombs directly at portals deal massive damage and the bomb explosion, great for thinning a recently spawned horde of enemies!
fun fact: you can cheese the reefslider. if you go to the little rectangular upwards thingy where you land (i think thats where) the reefslider will not be able to reach you, leaving you with no damage taken. though i do agree with the sting ray part. i usually just jump and dive for that
What I learned from this is that many drone sprinklers chips+a couple mobile drone gauge chips= an overpowered drone who can become a deadly sprinkler every second that can destroy a boss technically 10x her size ( I’m talking about the size of smollusk when you fight him not his regular size)
hi! this video was super awesome and i enjoyed watching it!! i do have a few pointers that couldve made your run easier, and in turn, made it quicker firstly, eggs (what i call portals) can have the turf under them painted, and itll do damage to them alongside also preventing their hp regen (you actually figured this out at 9:49, but you thought it was you jumping) next: you couldve rolled a lot more because of how cheap the first few are. clearly you did fine either way, but it couldve gotten you mobile charge sooner lastly: if you jump and glide, it is a lot faster than just walking everywhere. this also doesnt prevent pearl from firing, so theres no real loss to doing so either i hope any of this helps you in future runs, keep up the awesome work man!! :DD
I did a run with drone ink mine. You slept on something amazing. Blast radius increases the activation range on ink mine. Not to mention, splash damage makes it super lethal.
Trinity I think the inklings and octolings can take showers and be in kiddie pools as long as it is a light drizzle. Not too much water but like that shower head setting.
This is actually a pretty fun challenge. I attempted it after watching this, and I found that, if you get lucky enough, it becomes really easy, but in the beginning it’s, always rough. I think a pretty interesting add-on to this challenge would be completing it with minimal hacks (possibly permitting that the pearl hacks are maintained, as it might become impossible otherwise). Also if you were wondering, the best pearl drone weapon slot is for sure the splat bomb. It’s fast to charge up and helps you complete tower stages better than any other slot. Additionally, the “splat drone gauge” color chip is insane in this challenge, as it grants you up to 70p per kill, letting you take out mobs of enemies with ease. Lastly, the difficulty of the types of floors is interesting in this challenge and can change depending on how far you are into your run. For example, tower stages range from difficult to impossible in the beginning, but they were actually one of the easiest types of levels to complete for me later on. Likewise, portal and turf zone stages are really hard in the beginning and get much easier later on. Eight balls, though, are always easy. P.S. (sorry this is long, I just really liked attempting this challenge).

I did a dang near monochrome run today using the brella and just loaded up on Pearl Drone chips...filled the whole thing and maxed out every chip but Burst Bomb (still need that one)....level 3 Sprinkler with Drone Turf Gauge, Drone Splat Gauge, Ink Strike and Killer Wail have saved many a run for me...on a monochrome run where I'm not punishing myself by not allowing myself to attack? She will solo entire floors as long as it's not a Danger floor that takes away the drone. I've had her take out bosses with Killer Wail alone in the early runs before I got a bunch of hacks unlocked. If they make a Splatoon 4 and it has drone movement and abilities like Pearl gave us here? Oh it's gonna get nutty. Apparently they have said they will do more Splatoon games but the saga we've been seeing with the idols we have? Yeah Splatoon 3 was basically a trilogy and it's the end of it and they will move on to a new story with it.
I think Side Order may have single-handedly changed everyone's opinion about Pearl. From big fore-headed gremlin to the hero we needed in just one DLC :P

it is good, but when you can't use your main or sub it has a lot less use.

This got me to subscribe. That being said, one weapon that would have been better, at least early on, is the slatling, since its secondary tone is support, aka mobile drone guage.
