Something worth highlighting is that keeping yourself busy is a great way to distract yourself from hunger, be it work, excersize or something else, compared to if you e.g. sit around all day doing nothing. That's at least me personally, I can be starving but go on a 4 hour walk and 20 mins in I don't feel hungry anymore, on the flipside if I sit around all day I can eat myself full and keep stuffing my face even though I feel my stomach stretching and bloating.
@ Haha yeah I started walking a lot. It started with one of those walking pads. I got it so I could have it at my desk, instead of sitting down. Now I've begun to go out hiking as a consequence, sometimes these hikes take up to 4 hours, not all of course, so it may just have been a slight exaggeration to drive the point but meh, principal remains. Busy = not hungry.
Are you serious? This man has a huge gut. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Especially when he says seed oils are good for you. All you need to do is go on the carnivore diet. My stomach was flat as a pancake. Had to start eating carbs because I was getting too thin. You can stuff you face and still don't gain anything. The trick is to eat plenty of fat. Tallow will be the best because it's hard to over eat it. You won't be starving bro. Your welcome!

Watching videos from your channel and using the RP app, I’m losing about 1.25 lbs a week while still building strength/muscle. I’ve lost and regained significant weight (40+ lbs) weight three times over the years. This is the first time I’ve dropped the weight and had a serious positive impact on my body. Thanks Dr. Mike! Happy Holidays!
Oh Mike, your willpower and ability to shed water-weight and get a good tan are so unmatched. Give me more tidbits (that don't rely on pharma) that I know for sure you personally put into practice with great efficacy and success!
This is the time of year where I go on a full deload phase. For two weeks I just live. Don't count, don't restrict, don't lift, do some day drinking here and there. Having two weeks off at Christmas has been huge for my mental health. But this will help come January 6th for sure.
I've kinda been doing the same. The chronic DOMS for years on end has been messing with my brain something fierce, especially since it doesn't really reflect it in the mirror. Now that I've been away from the gym for a bit I feel so much better and I honestly am wondering if I should just quit for good.
Don’t worry about people complaining about reuploads, it’s great content that I haven’t seen yet, so keep it up and enjoy some time off for the holidays :)
Such great advice. I LOVE eating food fresh but its only viable to me if you are a stay at home person. Since i have a 12 hour shift job, bulk prepping us just too big a time saver to skip. But days off, all about that fresh life! ❤
I was at 240 at the beginning of the year. Around March-April i knew i was to heavy so i started to carbs out Monday-Sat, only red meat, chicken, eggs, greek yogurt, blue berries, protein powder and blue berries. As for physical activity i did 45 min walks around the football field and then went to mainly power lift 5x5 on the main lifts. Currently sitting between 200-205.
Love all the tips, thanks! I use a large wok to cook a huge amount of veggies and eat that through the week. I stir fry some onions, cabbage, celery, mushrooms, etc and last me all week. A large wok has been great for me to get in my veggies (:
I have been in a calorie deficit since July. I feel this. My husband recently told me that when I sit down at night I do not want to get back up. And its so true. I've got 32lbs left to loose and it is harrrrrd.
The easiest way is to just make a list of every healthy food/meal that you enjoy eating, then just separate them into groups based on nutrition, that gives you so much variety and you’ll find more and more foods as you go along and make the list bigger and bigger. I just have mine listed in tables on the notes app on my phone. After a few weeks to a 😊month you won’t even need to look back at the list because you’re body will only want to consume those foods and reject cravings for unhealthy foods you previously enjoyed.
Best food Prep i did. In one day i Smoked a Brisket, Slow cooked a chili all day, and made a Bunch of single serve Meatloaf's. My Freezer had 25 Great Dinners for the month. IT was all low effort, and great to look forward to. It takes the same time to cook 1 serving as 10 servings.

Funny. I just re watched this literally 5 days ago (the original post). Great content and I’m sure lots of people need to hear this at this time of year (yeah, including me).
Mike, my sleep, meals, and just about everything else are, and have been, completely sporadic since I was about 10. So, like 35 years of absolutely no circadian rhythm! I have heart disease rampant on both sides of my family (i.e. many family members had clogged arteries by 35 years old!!). I had a CT angiogram with contrast in 2022 and the cardiologist was dumbfounded. After hearing about my family history and habits growing up to only see perfectly pristine arteries. I'm 6'4" 225 lbs and, while my weight doesn't ever seem to change that much, I've spent that time fluctuating between 15 and 25% bodyfat. I'm familiar with Satchin Panda and a lot of the research regarding circadian rhythms as well as the vast literature that is ever evolving around sleep research. Still, I manage to stay relatively healthy, fit and happy (no depression, et cetera) this way. I have to take it all with a grain of salt. Don't stress yourself out about these things if you can't help them easily. Find other ways to move the needle. Or am I hopeless and should just off myself? 😉😁
I'm rocking the small deficit. Your buddy mentioned that losing one half of a percent of your bodyweight a week is the most you can lose with out losing muscle. So I'm going for a pound a week for twenty weeks.
Just what I needed right now. I crashed and burned and rebounded pretty hard since about Halloween and I'm looking to reset here after Christmas. Gotta get lean by summer.
I'm 54 years old, went from 175lbs. to 155lbs by eating 1,300 calories/day. I really don't track macros, but track calories. Yesterday, according to the "Lose It" app, I ate 56% protein, 26% carbs and 18% fat. So that's typical, because I'm consistent. Nothing crazy about cardio, 1 hour of walking on a treadmill at 3MPH at 3% incline. Training is 7 days/week, push-pull. The weight came off quickly, about 2 months. Now, maintenance for me is about 1,500 calories, as I'm lighter, my metabolism requires less energy to sustain.
The biggest deal for me for being able to stick to my diets is to simplify my meals. A meal doesn’t have to be an adventure. It really can just be some cottage cheese with frozen blueberries I thawed in the microwave. It’s fine. It’s food. I like it enough to eat it almost daily and there’s enough variety in the frozen fruits they sell to keep me happy pretty much indefinitely. I make chicken, sweet potatoes, and boiled eggs ahead, have some salad stuff and snacking veggies on hand. Bam. Lunch/dinner most days in 5 minutes with very few dishes. And for me, during the week, that’s plenty. On the weekends I’ll go get sushi or I’ll make something a little more interesting at home (chicken paprikash, duck fried rice, etc). But it doesn’t need to be every day.

Hi Dr. Mike, Big fan of your content. I have a Question. Do I add my workout to my deficit when i cut calories, or do I cut based on my recommended calorie intake regardless of workout.
You should factor in your workout when determining your deficit Calories which is 200-500Kcal depending on the intensity and duration of the workout. Generally speaking, your workout Caloric burn will maintain relatively constant and you'll just adjust your deficit based on your weekly rate of loss though.
