Carl is draining. I dont like lindsay that much, but to be with someone who whines about everything and anything when youre confrontational is just ughhhh. Carl did them both a favor, but the way he went about it was calculated and manipulative in a high school way. Like the dude who pushes the girl to break up with them.
After watching the reunion and all but one of the other cast sided with him I don’t think he was being manipulated. As someone in recovery, I would likely have left after she accused him of using and called him cocaine Carl to other people. His recovery should always be his priority in his life and I am proud he stayed the course and got the negativity out of his life.
Each season Danielle reveals more of the dark, mean and narcissistic sides of her personality. Didn’t feel bad when everyone laughed about her so-called company.
I think they both wanted marriage so badly they ignored their issues. The moment he lost his brother and got sober he wanted a wife and family the older she gets the more she wants a husband and a baby unfortunately just because they wanted the same things didn’t mean they were right for each other.
Season five with Steven & Lindsay, oh boy! She was hell bent on a timeline at 34 and wanted kids by 37 the latest. And ironically she turns 38 this year, so yeahhhh…. Anyway….That alone easily lets you know, when you watch the two conversations she has with Danielle during season five about it, where Lindsay says she’s exhausted trying to teach men to love her the way she needs to FEEL loved and have her needs met, but then Danielle points out Lindsay is the reason her relationship didn’t workout. However Kyle said it best that season that Lindsay self sabotages her relationships due to her abandonment issues with her mother and it’s why she pushes her partners away, so she doesn’t have to get too close and hurt. Kyle and Danielle are the ONLY ones who see Lindsay exactly as she is and why she keeps having these cycles in dating sadly.
They both have unresolved trauma before their love relationship. It was a train wreck waiting to happen before it started. They needed to learn lessons, and they did. This is life.

He was pretty likable in the beginning and Jesse was not. Then it flipped and I realized at the reunion that west is a total man baby douche and Jesse is a pretty nice guy. West blew it big time.
I truly did see growth in Lindsay this season. There were a couple times at the beginning when she started to spiral but she truly was less reactionary than in previous seasons. IMO, Carl was giving a lot of mixed signals and just had so much contempt for Linds and it was heartbreaking to watch. I don't think there is a villain in this case. Linds and Carl weren't good for each other because they have such different needs in a partner and communication styles. I hope they heal from this and go on to live happy and healthy lives.

I’ve been rewatching from season 3 when Paige first came on the show & my god! The same stunt Carl pulled on Lindsay this season? He pulled on Paige in season 3!!!! Mind you his parents got divorced and he dated, messed with another cast members head the first two seasons. One of the blonde twins sisters. And then fact Lindsay & Carl fooled around during season 4. Then season five his brother died during summer 2020 & his mom got remarried, while they all sequestered for six weeks straight in the same house in the Hamptons. If you watch season 3-5, you start to understand why Carl is so screwed up dating wise and NEEDS therapy for himself. The dude has anger issues and doesn’t know how to effectively communicate without throwing things back at people, which is HOW he gets into hot water with every single woman he’s ever dated on camera.

I just watched the reunion and color me shocked - Lindsay took no accountability for anything. This woman needs to change her therapist asap because the one she is currently seeing isn't doing anything to help Lindsay grow. I predict the rest of the reunion goes the same way. I have not watched one episode of this show but based on what I see on these clips, Lindsay didn't need help making herself the villain. From what I saw, these 2 never should have been a couple.
Just watched the break-up and Carl repeatedly said I think you think I'm...not realizing that he was projecting his own insecurities onto Lindsay, because he was being defensive. People who are defensive take any question/feedback as an attack. They are better off apart, and honestly wasn't a fan of either of them before, but seeing it all unfold like that made me understand them better. It was like a case study for the demands an insecure person places on someone who has to be secure for the both of them. I agree with Lindsay's observation about how confidence works and how she had to constantly validate Carl, but it never seemed like enough. It made me wonder if someone can be addicted to validation, and apparently it's called approval addiction and makes his behaviour make sense. Lindsay seems ready for marriage with a partner who can meet her where she is at. Carl is definitely not ready, and probably should seek individual therapy before he gets into another relationship because he is incapable of taking responsibility for himself/his emotions.
@mialeap29 It seems like they both possess characteristics that could be classified as such: Lindsay on the grandiose side of the spectrum and Carl on the covert side, if you want to go down that path. Like, Carl downplayed Lindsay's abilities as an influencer to rationalize why he makes less than her (even if women get more brand deals they tend to be paid 30% less than men in that profession). Maybe she pushed his buttons by saying she didn't find his lack of ambition sexy. By that logic though, why is Carl still friends with Kyle who was basically saying the same thing last season?

@mialeap29 Maybe not, but you would be surprised what people are willing to do when something is a priority or their priorities are clarified. I can't remember how long it was, but I thought she gave up drinking for 6 months to support Carl's sobriety when she was still checked into the relationship. Even if Lindsay has a strong personality that might not be for everyone, the commentary on asking her to be more soft to undermine her asserting herself resonated. I used to be scared of appearing too forceful or angry even if it meant I missed out on opportunities or I had reason to be because I was treated unfairly.

I think all of the cast look amazing! I can’t decide which lady’s dress I like better, and I usually have a definite preference right away at all of the Reunion shows.

Carl is draining. I dont like lindsay that much, but to be with someone who whines about everything and anything when youre confrontational is just ughhhh. Carl did them both a favor, but the way he went about it was calculated and manipulative in a high school way. Like the dude who pushes the girl to break up with them.
I honestly think he had to muster up the courage to go through with it. I think he was afraid and it was a hard life altering decision.
After watching the reunion and all but one of the other cast sided with him I don’t think he was being manipulated. As someone in recovery, I would likely have left after she accused him of using and called him cocaine Carl to other people. His recovery should always be his priority in his life and I am proud he stayed the course and got the negativity out of his life.

Season five with Steven & Lindsay, oh boy! She was hell bent on a timeline at 34 and wanted kids by 37 the latest. And ironically she turns 38 this year, so yeahhhh….
Anyway….That alone easily lets you know, when you watch the two conversations she has with Danielle during season five about it, where Lindsay says she’s exhausted trying to teach men to love her the way she needs to FEEL loved and have her needs met, but then Danielle points out Lindsay is the reason her relationship didn’t workout.
However Kyle said it best that season that Lindsay self sabotages her relationships due to her abandonment issues with her mother and it’s why she pushes her partners away, so she doesn’t have to get too close and hurt.
Kyle and Danielle are the ONLY ones who see Lindsay exactly as she is and why she keeps having these cycles in dating sadly.

I truly did see growth in Lindsay this season. There were a couple times at the beginning when she started to spiral but she truly was less reactionary than in previous seasons. IMO, Carl was giving a lot of mixed signals and just had so much contempt for Linds and it was heartbreaking to watch. I don't think there is a villain in this case. Linds and Carl weren't good for each other because they have such different needs in a partner and communication styles. I hope they heal from this and go on to live happy and healthy lives.

I’ve been rewatching from season 3 when Paige first came on the show & my god! The same stunt Carl pulled on Lindsay this season? He pulled on Paige in season 3!!!! Mind you his parents got divorced and he dated, messed with another cast members head the first two seasons. One of the blonde twins sisters. And then fact Lindsay & Carl fooled around during season 4. Then season five his brother died during summer 2020 & his mom got remarried, while they all sequestered for six weeks straight in the same house in the Hamptons. If you watch season 3-5, you start to understand why Carl is so screwed up dating wise and NEEDS therapy for himself. The dude has anger issues and doesn’t know how to effectively communicate without throwing things back at people, which is HOW he gets into hot water with every single woman he’s ever dated on camera.

Just watched the break-up and Carl repeatedly said I think you think I'm...not realizing that he was projecting his own insecurities onto Lindsay, because he was being defensive. People who are defensive take any question/feedback as an attack. They are better off apart, and honestly wasn't a fan of either of them before, but seeing it all unfold like that made me understand them better. It was like a case study for the demands an insecure person places on someone who has to be secure for the both of them. I agree with Lindsay's observation about how confidence works and how she had to constantly validate Carl, but it never seemed like enough. It made me wonder if someone can be addicted to validation, and apparently it's called approval addiction and makes his behaviour make sense. Lindsay seems ready for marriage with a partner who can meet her where she is at. Carl is definitely not ready, and probably should seek individual therapy before he gets into another relationship because he is incapable of taking responsibility for himself/his emotions.

@mialeap29 It seems like they both possess characteristics that could be classified as such: Lindsay on the grandiose side of the spectrum and Carl on the covert side, if you want to go down that path. Like, Carl downplayed Lindsay's abilities as an influencer to rationalize why he makes less than her (even if women get more brand deals they tend to be paid 30% less than men in that profession). Maybe she pushed his buttons by saying she didn't find his lack of ambition sexy. By that logic though, why is Carl still friends with Kyle who was basically saying the same thing last season?
I'm actually on team neither. However, Lindsay is never going to be able to cross off wife and mother on her to do list with her demanding behavior and excessive drinking.
@mialeap29 Maybe not, but you would be surprised what people are willing to do when something is a priority or their priorities are clarified. I can't remember how long it was, but I thought she gave up drinking for 6 months to support Carl's sobriety when she was still checked into the relationship. Even if Lindsay has a strong personality that might not be for everyone, the commentary on asking her to be more soft to undermine her asserting herself resonated. I used to be scared of appearing too forceful or angry even if it meant I missed out on opportunities or I had reason to be because I was treated unfairly.
She's a mean drunk and needs to quit drinking permanently if she wants to be a mother.
