But the usual media bias wont say this. This is Playstation's big fear. The difference is that Xbox putting games sales everywhere and also soon not only making the Hybrid PC / Xbox (which will resolve all this issues with the Xbox OS on PC) will also let you choose the specification via different manufacturers of the licensed Xbox PC hybrid. I will be straight on preorder of the top end Alienware Xbox hybrid. It will smoke the PS6 and PS6 Pro all gen and run everything and completely negate the need for a playstation and avoid moneyhats. All of this is making more revenue for Xbox, making the Xbox ecosystem more available for people to buy games and play gamepass but at the same time diminishing the need to buy a playstation console. The PS5 is my last playstation after buying all. It's irrelevant and costs too much for too little performance especially in view of what's coming in 2026.

I don’t see the point of what MS is doing with this, if you’re on steam either on pc or a deck why would u want to side load an xbox ui where the majority of games are the same.
That’s why steam one is 499 while the windows one is 700 something valve said they won’t charge for it since the sell games while windows charge around 200 per unit so yeah 😂
Sony is a gnat. They aren’t even in a position to have this conversation. They are essentially a box to play third party games. If Xbox manages to do this, the idea of exclusives is dead. Especially if Steam also starts releasing consoles. Another point, MS will still continue to make consoles if they license out Xbox OS. Just like Steam is still working on Steam Deck 2. They have to have some sort of reference model or define the minimum spec and they need some sort of certification process. Otherwise you’ll have cheap devices that don’t provide the intended experience.
This is exciting for me, because not only does it give ease of use to a handheld, but it also opens the door for a steam box that is a lot smaller than your standard PC tower for the TV, like a console. As far as which I would use that's the confusing part. I think SteamOS will be the better designed experience, but it will lack the overall compatibility of the Windows Gaming "Xbox OS". So there will be some games that just don't run on SteamOS because its Linux, or have bugs and issues. Where as the Windows version will have almost unlimited compatibility with all PC games. Not only that, but I think if done right, Steam PC games will be able to show up in your "Xbox OS" when the app scans your PC or be added. So tldr; I think the SteamOS will be more polished and user friendly because it's Valve. But I think the Windows gaming "Xbox OS" , will offer unmatched compatibility with any games that runs on Windows for the last 30yrs. Both will have Steam sales, while only the Windows option will have Gamepass etc. I also believe both will have living room boxes based on these OS's after the handheld version. This Xbox OS is going to be integrated into the Next console.
Steam os is pretty good but my steamdeck crashed playing a verified game and I had to send it back to get it fixed because it fucked my whole deck up I couldn't even get it to reset the bios and after I tried multiple things it would only turn on the fans vs my xbox can have a game crash and start up just fine so I'd say that alone gives xbox os an edge which im sure im a rare case but still if your os can't find a way to reboot after crashing from a single crash that's a problem
In my honest opinion, there is nothing to worry about. This is literally what Microsoft does: distribute software or operating systems to different OEMs for their custom PCs or laptops. They are already doing this, by the way, just not on handheld devices. One thing I have noticed is that other departments within Microsoft are very quick to capitalize on a market or solution (e.g., Xbox coming in late to the party). They need to understand they are on the clock, and SteamOS is far more interesting to OEMs. Preferably, I would like SteamOS to be released as another open-source operating system that we can use and modify.
Steam will eventually make it available to everyone in my opinion. But it will be missing games like Warzone. One of the reasons Microsoft acquired ABK was to keep certain games off of Linux or any competing OS.

Steam has games for like $3 and you keep them as opposed to being tied to a subscription. The other interesting thing is, Microsoft is saying it wants to take the Xbox OS experience and bring it to PC. That sounds great, but I hope they only go that route and not show PC settings on a TV box because most console players wouldn't know what to do with those.
@AG-PC336 They should allow it but I think they should make the user go into the settings and change a setting "Play Windows Versions of games" then have the console reboot. So the user can choose if they want to mess with graphical settings, or stock with the developer presets that are hidden. Have the ability to switch in the settings. Sort of like the G Cloud let you switch to tablet mode or Logitech handheld mode.
@AG-PC336 so "Power Users" who knows what they're doing when it comes to PC settings can switch. While casual gamers who don't want to both can keep it on the dev settings in a console style build tailored to the machine specs.
@SnooZeGamezZz if pc handhelds can play pc games then consoles can already do so, handhelds are basically weaker consoles, xbox could turn the xbox series x or xbox series s into a pc right now with just a upgrade to the os, all they have to do is create a os that allows you to access pc games and xbox games, its possible that xbox could have pc version of games right beside xbox games without having to reboot, you know on xbox you can pick the xbox one version or the series version well they could add a pc version aswell, but the os they use needs to be very optimize not to be running in the background, and pc gets viruses so that would be risky to, so xbox would need to make things really easy for people to fix there xbox and stuff, but this would make xbox the best handheld because it would be a real console and a pc hybrid
@@AG-PC336 I still think they should do the Xbox Experience on Windows for gaming for sure. But I'm a bit skeptical about PC games on a "console". Gamers who play on console are not used to tinkering with settings There has to be an easy way to hide the PC aspects of the game if the user chooses and just have the dev settings. Because ppl will undoubtedly do something wrong like go over vram budgets and have horrible performance if they don't know what they're doing with PC settings.
They want to bring their console UI to PC. For ppl who launch the Xbox app. You will probably be able to choose to launch it at startup in fullscreen, with do not disturb activated by default, for no interruptions. The game gamebar is pretty half ass, but it does prove that an OS level overlay can work at anytime, unlike steam overlay in Windows.

Gamers who play on console are not used to tinkering with settings
There has to be an easy way to hide the PC aspects of the game if the user chooses and just have the dev settings. Because ppl will undoubtedly do something wrong like go over vram budgets and have horrible performance if they don't know what they're doing with PC settings.
lets all be real and honest here. the pc xbox app and gamebar overlay is absolutely atrocious. im not confident in them doing a new os
Doc just stop worrying about what xbox does. Just know whatever xbox does it will fail like before
Like sony movies
@@wilproduction7222 Lucky Sony hit it out of the ballpark when it comes to games. Can't say the that for xbox
@aullintv but it's fan base doesn't buy the games. That's why xbox mau is more then sony and sea of thieves sold the same amount of games as the game of the year on Playstation.
@@wilproduction7222 the only fan base that don’t buy games is Xbox. Tell me how did call of duty do? 75% sold on PlayStation and 10% sold on Xbox. Ouch
Make sense because im sure Microsoft would want to save money by letting someone else make the harware while they supply the software. I know that's what i would want to do as a businessman. Not sure how most Xbox fans would feel about that but im a Xbox fan & wouldnt have no problem with it as long as they going to make the hardware even more better than ever
Xbox will still have their own HW. Devs can use that as a baseline to make their games
@@bosskey23 this
@@504Trey Valve has laid out the blueprint of what both companies really want to do.
They will make their own target handheld every 4-5yrs and let other manufacturers make new hardware using their OS platforms.
So in theory, you will be able to buy a new cutting edge model as often or as infrequently as you want.
Is that the skull and co case you got. I dont like steamBP, i think its flat and boring, i use playnite. I agree with what you are saying, we will get choice of hardware and they will fight for your business with better software, that sounds good to me. Seems PS will just be competing with Nintendo I guess. The future looks good
If steam is usable on an “Xbox os” system which will probably be windows then… everyone wins 🎉🎉🎉
its gonna become apple vs android… both targeting different audience
At this point xbox needs to pray to Microsoft and ask their daddy to unforsake them. Really, they need Nvidia and amd to partner up and make 2 versions of xbox . Nvidia and a amd version, after that give us windows 11 and the new xbox os. Essentially you will get ps5 and xbox games plus the ability to use steam and even emulators. Vr is gonna be crazy on it to
Lol what does gaystation have 😂 a potato portable with no games 💀
@@deathdecorvid9926 That "potato portable" has been the best selling accessory in gaming for more than a year now. Dumbass. It sold more than the Xbox Series X and S did in one month.
@deathdecorvid9926 true lol
Windows is not an open system... it is becoming more and more like apple
XboxOS? You mean Windows?
….checks to see who’s Xbox parent company…OPERATING SYSTEMS CREATOR MICROSOFT…leaves chat ✌🏾
Doc please Sony is unbothered TRUST ME 🤣🤣🤣
congratulations
you have completely misunderstood the information presented to you
😂
Lets be real the Xbox OS is way better then the Steam OS but Steam has way better deals on sales of Video games. That being said i kind of think you have a Bias due to steam being more fresh to you, something new. I like both tho and think they are really simple to use, but lets not forget Sony is way behind in everything meaning they don't even have a Launcher like i hope these Ponies start asking for more cause there going to be so behind there not going to be able to catch up. PlayStation is so worried about gimmicks right now like being able to smell a environment of the video game your playing Through your controller lol like wtf 🤣 they need to start demanding PS to start creating a PC launcher at least so they can move the goal post and say "Well at least day one drops are going to our launcher and coming later to Steam and epic" i can hear them now lol
Hardware is starting to become irrelevant. Software is the future. Yes. Everything is trying to become more and more digital. Just look around.
Microsoft knows how to do an OS already?
Windows 11 is a fucking mess, bro. The latest update literally breaks games.
What games I been on Win11 since day one. I have less issues with 11 than 10. I also have a 7900XTX which “supposed” to have bad drivers.
Because pc gaming isn’t real all the pc that are made for people who need it for other things other than gaming that’s why they late to this
I'm sorry but there's no way Steam OS comes any close to Xbox OS and there 20years of innovation on it. Steam OS doesn't even support most of the big multi-player games and won't because of anti cheat. It's not like the Steam Deck is selling like crazy as compared to ROG or Lenovo. Xbox will be fine if they can make it work not to mention you take your library with you.
Steam Deck sold 1 million last year stated by Valve... ASUS and Lenovo have yet to revealed their handheld PC sales numbers ...
Lmaoo you don't even know what you're talking about. Steam OS is a linux distro and proton exists. As for the anti cheat situation it's not that difficult to implement. Linux is lighter and more efficient, you can suspend games easier in linux as well..
All you need now is support from developers and that's going to come with more users on linux. Which is why Valve is giving away steam OS for free. But if you want to stick to windows that's fine lol
steam storefront is great... steam os? its not that great just overhyped
is my or your mother's hot box and x-box? or is it a Bento Box. this is an X-box. yo momma discharge is an xbox- or is it a Bento box.. Microsoft .. goodness. ok.
I dont want a handheld, i hate playing on a small screen, holding a heavy, hot 1 -2 hiur max gaming handheld...i dont play my switch undocked and Xbox has shown us they have no clue what they want to be...and surface team os making the handheld and the surface tablets are garbage....and windows 11 broke tons of games after another failed update...windows is garbage for gaming

Bro let the man think out loud in video form. As gaming changes and news comes out, like the rest of us, he has thoughts that can change or evolve.
