Buy and hold
The basic problem is that Tesla's market has collapsed when its stock price requires everyone to switch to EVs in the next few years and all those people will buy Teslas. In addition, it is absolutely true that almost all EV buyers are politically liberal and actively so. That Tesla's CEO has gone full maga, these buyers will go elsewhere. There's no floor to the stock price.
EV market is growing. (see sales numbers and market share)
Stock price requires autonomy, has little to do with cars itself. (see valuation of other car companies)
EV buyers are home in every political spectrum. (for example CNN "Tesla owners are more Republican than you’d think")
Just think about thar for a moment. Tesla makes the best selling car In The
World. If it was only selling to left-leaning people, do you think the Model Y would have got that accolade?

P/E is still 32! The stock can reach $20 and its still not low for a car company.
Forward PE is 50x. Even worse.
“They are buying a Tesla,” can go both ways. I bought my first EV to not pay a single penny on gas, to save money. That means Tesla was out of the equation for those who want to save money. There are many options on EVS. EV makers forget that more people switched to EV when the gas hit $5 a gallon. While there were people who opted to Tesla, many more opted to Kia, Hyundai, BMW and more for various reasons. Tesla is now sitting with its branding issue as a carmaker. But as a data company, not sure if they have hit their goals.
Tesla still has the best charging infrastructure. With that being said there is just more options for consumers to choose from today than just 3 years ago. While it’s Elon’s right to do and say whatever he wants with X it’s really a strange strategy for a CEO to attack the political party that had been his biggest supporters. I think it’s going to get worse for Tesla regardless what Elon, does unless he can rehabilitate his image. I think him selling Tesla would hurt the company even more though.
While interest rates and the "Osborne effect" are real headwinds, there's more, as you say. Why couldn't the "genius" have had the simple common sense to just keep his mouth shut? (It's not like he is going to convert any coal rollers into EV enthusiasts.). Shareholders have a right to be upset with him. (He's got me as a consumer looking to Rivian. Or ABT. Anything But Tesla.)
It wouldn't happen to also be because agency's like reuters has been overly agreesive in its bias against tesla and evs. The idea tesla needs to liable for its tech is the same argument that companies like pg&e need to be liable for its inadequate maintenance of its power line without giving them the out of bankruptcy protection.its an insane double standard
My wife and I have wanted a Tesla for a few years, but now we agree that if we buy an EV it will not be a Tesla. We both think Musk is disgusting.
I canceled my Tesla order after Musk started going off on political and infantile tangents. Will wait for a competitor to build a better car
I think Tim might be wrong here. Waymo currently has L4 Ubers as part of their test fleet in New York. One of main difference between L4 and L5 is autonomy on some roads, vs all roads respectively. So in this regard, Waymo is years ahead of Tesla in terms of collected mileage on L4 driving. Frankly I don't see how Tesla's August announcement on robotaxi can save their share prices in near term.
IMO, L4 or L5 isn't possible using only cameras, as Tesla is doing. They ain't getting there with current hardware on vehicles.
@@KrustyKlownElon needs to hire some engineers that understand technology and let them takeover the project! Experts think it will be another 10+ before L4.5 is accomplished and full L5 is out in the distance of 50+ years from now!

I can only speak for myself, but I use to be an elon fan, but his recent behavior has really shifted, where he just sounds like another kooky right-winger who watches way too much tucker carlson. His behavior on X has gotten so bad that I wouldn’t want to be associated with the tesla brand at this point.

Tesla labor is only cheap because they get piles of stock options worth millions when the price goes up. The price isn't going up -now they will need to pay competitive wages!

I’m a democrat and I will never purchase a Tesla. However, I was in the market for 2 Teslas but with Elon’s behavior I bought the Kia EV9 and I don’t regret it. I think it a better EV with more bells and whistles.
Everyone I know who is considering an EV has also vowed never to buy a Tesla. I have a couple of friends who sold Teslas and bought other EVs to replace them.

In my opinion, Tesla's manufacturing quality is poor, and its interior design is unappealing. The inconsistent quality in their manufacturing processes is concerning, and the interior lacks the sophistication found in other comparable electric vehicles such as the ones from Volkswagen.

Time for Tesla to launch v8 diesel/gas pick up truck. And diversify from EVs. The valuation demands a full stable of cars. Not just a woke-mobile.

Most auto makers are turning away from EV and towards IC because they can.. easier said than done for Tesla. The reason EV-only makers went bust over a 100 years ago, is that they were unable to make this transition, to a technology that is inherently a lot more sophisticated than wiring up some batteries to a motor..

They can do it the implementation is better. Because in order for cruise and way more to do it they are going to have to make sure it works properly with every car manufacturer that uses it. As a MAGA guy I buy vehicles that do not send oil money to terrorists. EVs give me a reliable energy source and transportation costs. Love my EVs. They need to improve for truck hauling but for cars they are great.
