    Met Slash when i was working at Bellagio in Vegas. Like 2003 when smoking sections in restaurants were still present. I worked in high end spot and we had tiny smoking section up front by entrance. He didnt want a secluded area to sit because he wanted a smoking table. So he sat right up front where everyone could see it was Slash from GNR. Totally unassuming and cool guy. Not high maintence at all and had a few drinks and dinner with his family and he took few pics with fans. It was great.

I got an absolutely fantastic impression of Sammy Hagar on an autograph evening in late 2003, where we actually talked about the origins of the inspiration for his song “Little White Lies” for a couple of minutes. Down to earth, nice to everyone and sure someone who made that occasion memorable to his fans.

    It's so weird that some people never can kick the bottle. My wife's friend was dating an alcoholic big time. I mean this guy would wake up and pour himself a vodka (and he was an airplane mechanic). Anyway, shortly after he turned 50, he found himself in the hospital with all sorts of medical problems, liver, stomach, etc. Doctor told him that they only way he would survive was to quit drinking completely. He actually tried to get my wife's friend to smuggle in some booze anyway. When she wouldn't do it, he tried drinking mouthwash. He died shortly thereafter. He was too far gone. After he died doctors discovered he also had advanced esophageal cancer, so probably wouldn't have made any difference anyway, but point is he thought he might have a chance at the time, and he didn't care.

    • @rbilleaud
      @rbilleaud Год назад +8

      @@FoxyPinkGirl it's weird to me because if it comes to a choice between life and death most people would make the choice for life. Did you not listen to the story? If someone tells you you're going to die if you don't stop, many people, Slash included, do just that. Some do not, but why is it not weird that some people value their pleasure over their life? You act like they don't have a choice, like they can't beat addition. But they CAN because people do it all the time. It's not easy. I'm sure for some it is very hard, but it bothers me that some people just throw up their hands and say, oh well, he was an addict, there was nothing more we could do.

    • @rbilleaud
      @rbilleaud Год назад

      @@hjbit but that's just it. The alcohol isn't taking away the pain, it's only blocking it, and that's no solution. Let's say you have cancer and it's painful. Doctor says you caught it early enough to be curable, but you have to undergo treatment. Do you just take painkillers to deal with the pain, or do you get to the root of the problem and treat the cancer? Your life is not miserable because you're an alcoholic, you're an alcoholic because there are deeper issues you're not addressing. It's such a crutch, people throw up their hands and say there's nothing I can do, I'm and alcoholic (or addict). But if addiction truly is a disease as claimed, then diseases can be treated. But to treat the disease it means getting inside your head and dealing with the real problem.

    Sometimes your body has a funny way of telling you it's time. You either listen or you don't.
    I had that funny conversation back 2017 while on a weekend bender. I was 18 deep and leaned over to grab a fresh swig from my couch, next thing I know, my left arm goes numb and my eyes are seeing flashes. Called 911 and next thing I know I'm in the ER with what I can only describe as a Nascar pit crew. Blood pressure was around 200 over 180. Doctor comes in, looks at the bp monitor above my head and asks the nurse to do a second bp check. Her response? That IS the second reading. He looks at me and says "we're going to keep you over night". Been sober since🤘✌

    • @nothingiswritten1

      The nature of addiction is that it is progressive. Saying it's miniscule in comparison is like saying, I'm heading toward the edge of a cliff but it's okay because it still seems kinda far off so I won't worry about it for now. That is a mistake. Do you want to keep going down that path till one day you're "not in the clear"? You have to start righting the ship now, not at the last minute when you are bearing down on the iceberg. I know you didn't ask for this feedback but I'm giving it anyway, also for the sake of anyone else who happens along. Please forgive me if I'm out of line. Much love

    I saw Slash's Snake Pit open for AC/DC on the Stiff Upper Lip tour. I was stoked to see him. Although AC/DC were great as always, seeing Slash, one of my adolescent heroes in such a messed up state made me a little sad. He was sloppy on guitar, talked into the mic in a slurred voice, then ended the set with an ill-advised wobbly hand stand that almost ended with a crash into the drum riser. I loved GNR and it was evident after seeing Slash and his band that you needed at a minimum, Axl, Slash and Duff to create that magic. I was glad that Slash cleaned up his act, because I left there that night with a feeling that he would not live much longer like that.

      @@tasosdiaforetico7377 Yup! She drank atleast a bottle of Vodka, or 30pk, everyday, for years. Plus, she was only 110-115lbs to begin with. She refused the Liver transplant, because they required 6mths of Sobriety, before they even put an alcoholic/drug addict on any Transplant list. It's a very painful and slow way to die. She literally pickled herself from the inside, to the point the family decided to cremated her, and not have a viewing.

      For whatever reason people underestimate how dangerous alcohol is. The fact that it’s legal and present everywhere is definitely one reason.

    This so called rock and roll lifestyle is the thing that kills so many bands. Got so tired of trying to get band mates to show up to band practice or to a gig not drunk or stoned. After too many god complexes and embarrassing moments, where they would make complete fools of themselves, I just said fuck it, this bullshit isn't worth it anymore. Hung up all my gear 20 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did.

    Just a bit of constructive critique, the info on your videos is outstanding but the cheesy clips and photo clipart takes away of the credibility you are trying to convey. Focus only on material directly related to the artist you talk about. Even better getting info from people related to them. Cheers!
