    The explainer doesn’t know what he is talking about. This is totally wrong. Any viewer needs to find a presentation that explains phase shift needed to start a single phase induction motor.

    A capacitor is like a battery but discharges much faster and does not store a charge for as long. the reason you need a capacitor is because there is not enough power on an average 110 circuit/available circuit, a capacitor gives a sudden increase in amperage during Break of inertia to start the electric motors

    actually this is wrong as many people do. energy stored in a staring capacitor is too small to move a motor stator. you need to underhand the phase principle of a induction motor.

    • @veryinteresting101
      @veryinteresting101 5 месяцев назад +1

      Elaborate on that a bit. So why is the capacitor there ?

    • @tothattila6971
      @tothattila6971 5 месяцев назад

      @@veryinteresting101 Roughly: there is a phase latency between the pole position of the motor and and the momentar phase voltage. So it charges when voltage not needed, and discharges when needed. Its a bit difficult to explain, needs charts, formulas, etc. If capacitor was for starting, you should turn off after that.
      This guy is an idiot, spreads stupid things, like water can't be hotter than 100 Celsius.

      To phase shift some of the AC current 90° to energize a second set of windings to get it spinning. Once it is spinning fast enough the capacitor and the start windings are removed from the circuit via the centrifugal switch. Capacitors can store a DC charge but not AC there is no ‘power boost’ shit happening here

      If none of this makes sense we are not going to be able to explain further until it does.

      Without the start cap and windings and if the motor is aligned just so, when energized the motor will just hum and rock back and forth very slightly. If you were able to give the motor shaft a good turn, you would note it will run and in either direction rotation is initiated .

    So the start capacitor is always connected to the power source?! Wouldn't that significantly reduce its life span (since it's always changing polarities due to AC)?

    Some units doesn't have a starting capacitor...

    • @zebralearnings
      @zebralearnings  Год назад +2

      If the unit is running on 3 phase current. Then, the unit doesn't need a capacitor.

    • @Domaro0

      @@zebralearnings Even for single phase compressor, mostly you don't need a capacitor, if it's by design or compressor winding got weak then we use starting capacitor.
