    This recipe is great! I noticed this recipe is almost the same as the newest v60 one on your website except that the coffee grams is one gram less. Is that a general change you recommend going from v60 to kalita? I was wondering how I might adapt your v60 iced coffee recipe to kalita and if I should use 14g instead of 15g? Thank you for providing this and other wonderful guides to making delicious coffee!

      @@sjyoon081 i have the hasami ceramic 155 and thinking of buying the 155 stainless. Is there a difference in flow rate? And also i heard is there any clogging issue with 155 or is it only on the 185 stainless and does it have metalic smell after long use?

    • @sjyoon081
      @sjyoon081 3 года назад +1

      @@bjedsum902 Unfortunately, I cannot comment too much about the difference in flow rate as I personally have no experience with the ceramic version.. All I can say is that my 155 drains at around 2' 30" mark when I follow this recipe, but I am guessing the flow rate has something to do with the grind size as well.. In regards to the clogging issue.. Yes, it does happen on the stainless steel 155.. I often see that coffee is just coming out of two holes, instead of all three. I have been using my 155 for a few years now, but I have not noticed any metallic smell so far. Sorry that my observations are not super detailed as I am just making coffee for fun, but I hope this helps a bit!

    To prevent over-extraction?

    • @KurasuKyoto
      @KurasuKyoto  4 года назад +7

      With flat bottom Kalita the flow rate is quite consistent. We're happy with the contact with water and coffee (bloom) more so then a Hario.

    Arigato. Is there any difference putting the Kalita wave 155 right on top of the cup while brewing? Does it taste better putting the wave on top of a kettle instead?

    • @Joseph-C
      @Joseph-C 2 года назад +1

      Supposedly brewing into a server and then pouring into a mug aerates the coffee which is said to make it taste better. The other benefits are that it cools the coffee down to a more appropriate drinking temperature, and it mixes the different stages of the brew together more thoroughly

    I have the larger Kalita and brew coffee for my wife and me. How would you suggest adjusting the brewing recipe for 390 or 400g for 2 people?

    • @KurasuKyoto
      @KurasuKyoto  4 года назад +7

      For our recipe we do around a 1:15 ~16 ratio, bean to water. If you are doing 400g total water try 26g coffee, 70g bloom, 200g, 300g, 400g separate into 4 pours. Since the bed of the coffee will become more layered, for larger brews the rule of thumb is you can try a coarser grind.

      8 on a Comandante? That’s fine espresso range! Are you sure you’re talking about Comandante C40? It’s more like 22-25 clicks.

      This recipe, with medium roasted fresh beans from Honduras, 22 clicks of Comandante is really tasty. Dark chocolate filling your mouth. Im using glass 155. I dont remove static that stick to grinder, so if Your beans produces a lot of static after grinding, make sure to pay attention to final weight of grinded coffee.

    ドリッパーは185より155の方が良いですか?

    • @KurasuKyoto
      @KurasuKyoto  4 года назад +4

      質問ありがとうございます。何杯どりを頻繁にすることによって変わってきます。1-2杯であれば155、それ以上であれば185です。1-2杯の場合、面積が狭い分155の方が安定して入れられます。ハリオV60の場合も同じで、1-2杯の場合であれば01の方が安定感があり、それ以上であれば02サイズをお勧めします。

    If you rinse the filter by pouring water in the middle first, just wetten the bottom of the filter and let the water moisten the filter upward slowly, you can prevent the filter crumpling. This guy is in a rush. Don't do it like this.
