Just see how Navy is moving so fast on indigenisation and foreign aquisition. IAF should learn from Navy and army how to progress on modernisation. Major obstacle is from IAF to clear specs for development. In such scenario no private player will enter. Who is at fault in delay of MRFA.
I agree these guys are pampered so much. That way Navy is like way ahead and main thing is attitude to first induction and then later we can iron out things post user reviews. This is happening but not at a pace of that we all want. Engines are priority.

The biggest problem is the attitude of the service itself. The Tejas could have been put in service from 2012-13, timeframe. If the IAF had decided to do so in 2004-05. Sharing the mission systems from either Mirage 2000 upgrade or the Mig 29 upgrade. With indigenous systems installed during the mid life update. If that approach had been taken. IAF would have about 250 Tejas by now. The mk2 could have taken its own sweet time. The IAF has wasted nearly 18 to 20 years. In this program. The pvt sector is not going to make any investments in the Indian defence sector. As long as the attitude of the services remains as it is. No one is going to spend capital for 40 AMCA. And then wait for several years for follow up orders. The IAF needs to get its act straight and go for several hundred aircraft in one go.
