A lot of it must go missing on the way through a microphone and my earbuds, because since the 570S they've all sounded a bit weedy to me (guess I'll need someone to drive me around in one for real!). Their original sound (12C, P1) was more complex and characterful.
Ferrari approached the hybridization phase with excitement in mind and finally nailed it with the 296 but it seems like McLaren is approaching it begrudgingly hence the artura
Because adding all the battery's and electronics aren't worth it.. loosing trunk space adding weight ruing handling... the list is endless. All for a few miles of electric only... I have a tesla but love this over the ferrari for its purity
Because batteries add weight and complexity that and the 296 realistically isn't any faster than this or the 765LT despite having what another 100hp on tap. At 1.5 tonnes compared to the 750s 1.3 tonnes and 765lts 1.2 tonnes the 296GTB is a bit of a fatty in comparison.
So it looks literally exactly like every other McLaren. You could park many of their models next to each other and I couldnt tell the difference. This looks exactly like the 720S.

It's a match, for sure. The performance is so mental for either that it's more down to the skill and courage of the person behind the wheel as to which goes faster on any given day. Which one do you like? Get that one.

Bravo! Great review! I love my 720S w/ track pack, and am not running out to spend the extra dough on a 750S, but *absolutely* will trade over in the future. Modern Ferraris are perfect for country club poseurs and collectors, Modern Lambo's perfect for the bitcoin bro's, but McLarens are the true drivers cars.
Honestly there are fewer differences to the 720S than some regular cars getting facelifts and Porsche updating their 911s. If Mclaren can work on their horrible quality and reliability issues, this car could be the 911 of Mclaren.

As a rime attack racing driver this is the car to have. This on a set of Goodyear supercar 3r tires 305 30 19 front and 325 30 19 rear. Probably go 2:09 around cota if not faster
The 720s was always a great handling car to begin with, setting blistering times at any track, even on P zero Corsa tires. There's a test where they put on the Trofeo Rs, and it was faster than the more larry 765lt... I have no doubt this 750s on Trofeos will blitz the competition.
@@perryjames2260 you can check out the videos of journalists testing the 765lt, and tho it's insanely fast in a straight line, around the corners it's very unpredictable and snappy. Something about the overall balance was lost when they took out the weight and changed the mapping of the engine.
I don't quite know why car reviews ignore pov especially on track reviews? It is the only way (with sound) to get a feel for what it's actually like to drive the thing. Given my chance of driving one is diddly squat, it would be nice if you would please.
Not much Trofeos left after that drive. Probably could do with some traction control turned on. All I can hear is slipping tyres for almost all the clip.
All they needed to do was lose some weight, throw in some stronger rods, LSD, then upgrade the turbos, tune and 600LT style exhaust for added drama then viola, a McLaren 820 or 840S.
I agree that the Ferrari is more desirable although the McLaren is a beast. I have a few Porsches (GT3/RS,etc.), a Speciale (best sound) and a 296 GTB on order but the 750S is tempting as I wait for the 296 to arrive next year, especially since there is a surplus of 750S on dealer lots just waiting to be sold at a substantial discount.
I’d much rather have the 750S over a 296. The steering alone does it. I appreciate the non hybrid powertrain and the lightweight package. There’s a reason the Italians always quote useless dry weight. It’s because they are fat.
Have to admit the car still looks good but overall it's pretty disappointing especially after the 765LT. I was expecting Mclaren to follow that design path. l just don't like the front or rear bumpers of the 750s and I REALLY don't like the overall look of the rear end. It looks like a step back to me. If the 750s design came first and the 720s design was this years new car I would say the refresh looks good. I still like the car but it's not making any dream car lists. The second I saw the "new" center infotainment screen and buttons to the left of it I thought "that looks like a Palm Pilot or Handspring pda from the 90s" .. Honestly looks TERRIBLE and cheap. Was there a sale on elevator buttons? The bezzeled knobs from the 720 and 765 looked really good. All the buttons are gone below the screen as well that gave it a bit more of a technical look. Simplicity can look good but I think the missed the mark and went into it looks dated already territory with those changes. I DO like the dash and the side pod toggles. That looks fantastic!! Awesome video. Just wish the car went another direction. Looks wise best to worst it's 765-720-ARTURA-750-GT
agree 720>750 (looks wise). Also agree 765 looks better than both - it's an LT after all so those expensive body kit changes better be good! Artura and GT(S) bit more difficult to compare. Both fit their brief brilliantly methinks. Especially the GT. Those clean and extended lines absolutely ooze luxury and sophistication. Its less of an outright nutty performance look but it's not meant to be.

Couldn't see picking it over any other car in the GT class. The Artura has gone with the flat rear deck look which to me looks cheap. Not a spyder fan and it follows that look so that probably doesn't help although it looks like the entire industry is going with the flat rear deck or open deck. The lambo Technica would look amazing with the EVO rear glass but the current trend is going open deck. For me it means waiting a generation for the next design. It's lighter sure and probably just dumps heat like a champ but I just like the lines of a coupe like rear glass. The 765lt is still on the dream list. The electric age is here and those designs look amazing.
Beautiful car.... My 23' C8, running 0 to 60 in 2.9secs. for only 65k it's fast enough and for the price, I get thrill without having to break the bank....

They are really in split hair territory with the performance and there's a lot of brand loyalty in the realm of these cars. If not brand loyalty, it will come down to personal preference between the two.
The fastest rolling acceleration of a 296gtb 100-200 kmh I saw was 4.25sec, the fastest for a stock 765lt was 4.0sec. So this 750s probably has the same real power figures, similar weight, gear ratios - so it will as quick as a 296gtb if not quicker. Regarding a drag strip the stock 765 did 9.3 s 1/4 and Ive never seen a 296 did faster than 9.7 sec. And yeah, just add downpipes and ecu flash, even the 720s starts pulling 3.5sec 100-200.
Well, I'll be honest with you. I am a Ferrari fan. But I prefer the way McLaren build supercars. To, me, the driving dynamics of most McLaren supercars are better.

we dynoed a 750s with just over 840hp. I'm pretty sure some will get close to the 860 or even 880

The 296 is heavy and you'll feel that while driving.
