Heres how to land ILS in the TBM: G3000 Obtain LOC frequency in TBM: [center bottom screen]Press MFD -> Press Waypoint Info -> Airport -> Select Airport (the destination you want to ILS on if its available at that airport) -> enter airport code -> scroll down to reveal the LOC frequency for ILS. Set Radio and ILS approach: Get LOC frequency for ILS -> [center bottom screen]NAV COM -> Audio & Radios -> Set Nav1 to LOC frequency -> Press “Xfer” -> [top left screen] PFD Settings -> Bearing 1 set to Nav1 -> Listen to ATC to get the right height -> watch Nav1 Capture the LOC -> [Auto pilotcontrol] Press ‘APR’ mode -> watch the glide slope appear. Note: its not fully automated like the a320 … it will land itself but not flare so youll have to do that last bit yourself.
The yaw damper should not be turned on until after take off, gear up, flaps up. You need full rudder control on takeoff roll with something as powerful as the TBM, there is a reason you put so much rudder trim for take off. On take off and landing the yaw damper can your reduce your ability to be able to deal with things like propwash and crosswinds. You need all the control authority you can get in these situations. Also, regarding the inertial separator. TBM do a video on the subject if you want more information but basically you don't turn it off unless you fly higher than 5000 feet, this is to prevent foreign object damage from debris on the runway or birds up to altitudes they are known to inhabit. Also, while rain is not an issue if you combine it with icing conditions then the inertial separator should come on as it can protect damage from ice build up breaking off into the engine, this can also ruin your day. As a rule of thumb, turn it off if the sky is clear and your past 6000 feet or if your on your way down and the sky is clear once you hit 10000 feet which is an easy number to remember. Also if your at higher altitudes and are in icing condtions, turn it on with your other deicing systems! I would say be aware when disabling it as you climb on 100% torque as you will get a spike of up to 20% because of the extra air getting into the engine (the separator as the name suggests is basically a bypass) which could put you in the red damaging the engine but I don't think this is modelled in MSFS or if it is there is no real consequence. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

For all people who can't activate the Autopilot on the Daher ! -> Activate the AP trim on the upper right above your head first. A nice guy posted that somewhere, saved me a headache ;-)
One really cool thing about the G3000 is that you can actually split each one of the screens in half and fill it up with your page of choice; HSI Charts, Systems, etc., so you can look at 4 pages at the same time.
I've seen many tutorials on the Avionics on RUclips and on Reddit. Almost nobody is talking about the importance of the TO/GA button. It positions the flight director at the proper pitch (usually 7-10°) for a takeoff, or if you have to go around after a missed approach. It is usually a button located on the side, or underneath (like in the SR22) the Throttle and it is a very important feature for take-off. Usually available on aircraft larger than the Cessna 172 (and separate Garmin GMC Autopilot unit), or the larger jets with the Pro Line 21 and even commercial airliners. Hope this helps!
The function of the Inertial Separator is to help prevent foreign object damage (FOD) to the engine. It is recommended to use it by energizing the separator when the aircraft is on the ground and during the landing approach, as this will prevent FOD particles from entering the compressor section ... Also when flying into clouds when the temperature is below freezing so as to avoid the possibility of ice entering the engine.
One for the TBM jockeys here... I took it for a first flight an hour ago and couldn't get the autopilot to engage. After faffing around the panels for a few minutes, I discovered an A/P trim or similar on the overhead copilot side, which when flipped on , allows the autopilot to function as expected. There isn't as mach depth as I had hoped for, but the 3rd party specialists will have a field day with the G3000/G5000 in time to come. This is a staggering starting point.
I love the TBM G3000 suite. This is the best plane in the game imo. This plane is very intuitive after watching some tutorials. 2 weeks ago I knew nothing about how this plane works!

Looking forward to your VOR tut. I’m having trouble using existing games flight planner as VOR stations come up as localizers and i don’t get bearing info as i hoped for. If you can take us through the different VOR in game that would be helpful along with different nav aids on non gps aircrafts where only radios are options. Hi, if you are to high coming down for landing there is a way to loose Hight very quickly , turn the yoke left and compensate with right rudder , so you wil loose hight very fast and on an angle or sideway , I learn this technic when I learnt to flight. I love your tutorials straight to the point and don't go around biting the bush or unnecessary chatter
The TBM is my go-to aircraft for just cruising around in-game because it's so much faster than the other single-engine props without a lot of extra complexity. I'm still a stranger to all the autopilot and Garmin functions, though, since the last time I was really into flight sims everything was still steam gauges. This tutorial has been super helpful!
Have you gotten into always using flight patterns at all airports yet? I recently did, and it took my ability with the sim to the next level. Its fun and immersive as well.

Hey man! I noticed your runway textures are blurry. Have you tried setting your Anisotropy setting to 16x? it doesn't compromise any performance at all.
For those of you that love this plane and want to be better at flying it for real life limits and configuration I have a link to the manual. Make sure your torque / outside air temp/ and speeds / n2 etc all line up with your settings for Max cruise landing takeoff etc . It is so good when you use those settings . Very useful video. You should be able to go direct to approach options (ILS, RNAV, maybe even visual) from the procedure or proc key if this works in a similar way to the GTN750. It is a wonderful way to fly!
(Not a correction, just an addition) The inert. sep should remain [ON] while taxiing in all environmental conditions. Additionally in conditions such as ice, snow, dust, smoke, etc. it should remain on during takeoff and/or landing as well. It is a function that filters out foreign objects from the engine intake. If failures are enabled in the sim, this could possibly lead to one.

It's frustrating that we can't have this kind of instruction by default. It's like buying a plane (or 30 of them) without getting a single sheet of manual.
@@LtRiot The checklist is for parking brake, flaps, etc. Not to explain the functions of the glass cockpit. Additional, there are many bugs. How to find out if it's a bug or your fault if you have no expierence?
To be fair, most of the concepts in a flight sim are beyond the scope of a manual. If it's any consolation, none of the previous versions of FS or X-Plane had a manual either and video tutorials weren't available back then like they are today. You were either a pilot who know what they were doing or you learned by trial and error. This is the first time that an advanced flight sim has appealed to a more casual gaming audience and a lot users are feeling rather alienated. I wonder if Microsoft knew this and was relying/hoping that RUclips would be a primary training resource for new users.
Excellent video. A bit too fast, and just amazing though. I was doing great with other versions of FS, this 2020 is a bit complicated and sometimes some of the default aircraft does strange things out of the blue...I am hanging it there trying to find out what is wrong, but so far, if I had to rate the 2020 in comparison with earlier versions, the 2020 would not be very welcome. Hope to learn more. By the way, I have 4K hours in real life and about 1500 in FS. Cheer
My question is; when we have a flight plan in from the sim then we set NAV to GPS and engage autopilot why doesn't it capture that track, it just does a tightening turn forever? Its as if that flight plan leg is not activated. What I'd like to do is select an IFR route using the sim, then when I get in the plane load that flight plan, set up HDG and ALT before take off then when resume navigation start using the flight plan its showing on the screen. Garmin is the best in business but they really are backward to use and you wouldn't easily figure it out intuitively, and its not obvious when its not working what its doing - I think that is because the process is largely the same as it was in the very early days and maintaining interoperability with existing systems.
I have no idea if this matters in the simulator, but the TBM 930 POH (Section 2.2.6 - Limitations, Operation Limits, GFC 700 Autopilot Limits) says "The autopilot and yaw damper must be OFF during takeoff and landing." I know they tried to make most of the systems in the simulator as realistic as they could, especially for this aircraft, but I don't know where exactly things are "looser" than reality and by how much. The "and" in that line from the POH makes me think the YD can be engaged while the AP is not. This question might be silly in the context of the sim, but maybe a real pilot will know for sure: If the AP button is not illuminated (AP not engaged), are the YD button's state and other activated settings on that autopilot panel irrelevant until AP is actually engaged?

Holy cow, i just got TBM for first time, and my home base is KMCO and closest TBM i could get on the openair thunder server atm was KTTS near cape canaveral and i flew it back to orlando. Wanted to see a few videos on this plane to really get understanding of all controls and first video i find is yours between orlando and cap canaveral? What the heck is those chances.

LVL is the Level Button. When you loose the orientation you press the button and the AP will engage and the airplane levels out. a common safety feature in modern cockpits. btw in Cirrus Aircrafts with GFC700 it is a blue colored button.
Thanks for posting. I viewed this to see if you or anyone else was having the AP problems I've had. None of the Garmin-based APs are working properly. With the 3000 in the TBM, for example, it'll capture and hold ALT, but if I engage either NAV (VOR or GPS-coupled) or HDG, it not only fails to track properly, but it initiates an ever-increasing bank angle, resulting in an uncommanded roll event (AP should never exceed 30° of bank), requiring a disconnect to regain control (you can "fight it" to a certain extent, but this obviously should not be necessary). Has anyone experienced this and are there any ideas?
Yes. Uninstall the beta Working TItle NXI garmin preview thing from the marketplace, and it will restore normal operation on all auto pilot equipped aircraft.

My nav mode on this plane isn't working. I cant keep myself on coarse, but on the Citation it was turning itself and kept flying itself on coarse. And staying on the line Also what do those blue triangles mean? Figured it out. So PFD -Home then click NAV source. Switch to FMS. Plane will automatically fly its coarse for you. :) got a 3 hour flight with TBM Every plane is so different. You gotta learn them all! I feel most comfortable in the King Air.
Same im so comfortable with the king air, its has so many iptions, and the controls are easy. I may say that the 350i it’s easier to fly than the 172sp, however the direct to feature is (inop.) and that makes me mad. Thats why im trying to learn this plane.

Best tutorials I've seen for beginners like me. I just tried to flew a 1000 mile flight manually without any knowledge abt autopiloting...

If i can add why use VOR on GPS enabled aircrafts when you can just follow the designated line or path to the next waypoint?

Great job on this system. I was trying to fly this aircraft yesterday and it was just giving me fits. I guess I should sit down and do a bit more reading like I did when I was learning the DA62.

Does anyone know if there's a way, in game, to dim the PFD or MFD screens. The panel dimmer doesn't affect these and I can't find any other dimming controls.
It's frustrating that we can't have this kind of instruction by default. It's like buying a plane (or 30 of them) without getting a single sheet of manual.
?? they literally come with a checklist. would you have rather waited a year for them to make each aircraft a systems trainer?... no
@@LtRiot The checklist is for parking brake, flaps, etc. Not to explain the functions of the glass cockpit.
Additional, there are many bugs. How to find out if it's a bug or your fault if you have no expierence?
To be fair, most of the concepts in a flight sim are beyond the scope of a manual. If it's any consolation, none of the previous versions of FS or X-Plane had a manual either and video tutorials weren't available back then like they are today. You were either a pilot who know what they were doing or you learned by trial and error. This is the first time that an advanced flight sim has appealed to a more casual gaming audience and a lot users are feeling rather alienated. I wonder if Microsoft knew this and was relying/hoping that RUclips would be a primary training resource for new users.

Excellent video. A bit too fast, and just amazing though. I was doing great with other versions of FS, this 2020 is a bit complicated and sometimes some of the default aircraft does strange things out of the blue...I am hanging it there trying to find out what is wrong, but so far, if I had to rate the 2020 in comparison with earlier versions, the 2020 would not be very welcome.

By the way, I have 4K hours in real life and about 1500 in FS.

hey can you show us how to work a missed approach on the G3000 TBM.
My question is; when we have a flight plan in from the sim then we set NAV to GPS and engage autopilot why doesn't it capture that track, it just does a tightening turn forever? Its as if that flight plan leg is not activated. What I'd like to do is select an IFR route using the sim, then when I get in the plane load that flight plan, set up HDG and ALT before take off then when resume navigation start using the flight plan its showing on the screen. Garmin is the best in business but they really are backward to use and you wouldn't easily figure it out intuitively, and its not obvious when its not working what its doing - I think that is because the process is largely the same as it was in the very early days and maintaining interoperability with existing systems.
Cool but how do I dim the displays? They're so blindingly bright at night!
I have no idea if this matters in the simulator, but the TBM 930 POH (Section 2.2.6 - Limitations, Operation Limits, GFC 700 Autopilot Limits) says "The autopilot and yaw damper must be OFF during takeoff and landing." I know they tried to make most of the systems in the simulator as realistic as they could, especially for this aircraft, but I don't know where exactly things are "looser" than reality and by how much. The "and" in that line from the POH makes me think the YD can be engaged while the AP is not. This question might be silly in the context of the sim, but maybe a real pilot will know for sure: If the AP button is not illuminated (AP not engaged), are the YD button's state and other activated settings on that autopilot panel irrelevant until AP is actually engaged?

Since you seem to know your way around those pretty well, is there a way to adjust the brightness of the screens on this particular plane? The screens are really bright during night flights :P

Holy cow, i just got TBM for first time, and my home base is KMCO and closest TBM i could get on the openair thunder server atm was KTTS near cape canaveral and i flew it back to orlando. Wanted to see a few videos on this plane to really get understanding of all controls and first video i find is yours between orlando and cap canaveral? What the heck is those chances.

Yes, its available. I think he was just saying that the airport he was landing at didn't have ILS available.

LVL is the Level Button. When you loose the orientation you press the button and the AP will engage and the airplane levels out. a common safety feature in modern cockpits. btw in Cirrus Aircrafts with GFC700 it is a blue colored button.

Thanks for posting. I viewed this to see if you or anyone else was having the AP problems I've had. None of the Garmin-based APs are working properly. With the 3000 in the TBM, for example, it'll capture and hold ALT, but if I engage either NAV (VOR or GPS-coupled) or HDG, it not only fails to track properly, but it initiates an ever-increasing bank angle, resulting in an uncommanded roll event (AP should never exceed 30° of bank), requiring a disconnect to regain control (you can "fight it" to a certain extent, but this obviously should not be necessary). Has anyone experienced this and are there any ideas?
Yes. Uninstall the beta Working TItle NXI garmin preview thing from the marketplace, and it will restore normal operation on all auto pilot equipped aircraft.

Great video. Thanks a lot. Could you please talk about how throttle and propeller settings relate to the torque, ITT and NG gauges in the TBM 930? I notice that most fly with propellers 100% all the time. Is this appropriate?
My nav mode on this plane isn't working. I cant keep myself on coarse, but on the Citation it was turning itself and kept flying itself on coarse. And staying on the line
Also what do those blue triangles mean?
Figured it out. So PFD -Home then click NAV source. Switch to FMS.
Plane will automatically fly its coarse for you. :) got a 3 hour flight with TBM
Every plane is so different. You gotta learn them all! I feel most comfortable in the King Air.
Same im so comfortable with the king air, its has so many iptions, and the controls are easy. I may say that the 350i it’s easier to fly than the 172sp, however the direct to feature is (inop.) and that makes me mad. Thats why im trying to learn this plane.

I think he said it’s not ILS capable, but he could have been referring to the airport.
@@buruzn09 There is an ILS setting in the MFD when you select an airport that has ILS. Don't know if it's implemented though
Cameron Putt does it capture automatically or do you need to dial in the ILS frequency? Thats my biggest confusion right now
