The PGA TOUR heads to the iconic Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass for the 2022 edition of THE PLAYERS Championship. The top 30 golfers in the FedExCup standings, including 2017 FedExCup winner and defending champion Justin Thomas, will tee it up this week. World No.1 Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa are just some of the biggest names in golf battling it out for the $3.6 million winner’s share. Hovland remains one of the hottest players in the game, leading at the halfway point of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. Hideki Matsuyama is also in impressive form after winning the Sony Open this year. In 2020, Matsuyama tied the TPC Sawgrass scoring record (a 9-under 63) in the opening round and following the cancellation of that tournament, he'll be aiming to go all the way for the first time this year. The reigning FedExCup Champion, Patrick Cantlay, is looking to continue his excellent start to the season - he’s finished outside the top 10 in just one of his five starts so far.

Announcer for Tiger: “Better than most!”
Announcer for Sergio: “Not even close.”
1:15 "Get in the water!"
It’s fitting that Brooks is at the end of this video as he’s been about as bad as Sergio on this hole.
Hahaha couldn't agree more. Brooks has the personality of a piece of wood
@@matrix35 why are so many people a fan of his
@@rantdeville he has four majors. People love him as a golfer not for his personality or lack thereof
@@method341 understood thanks
Isn't it funny how even though he's had all the struggles he's also got one of the few hole in one's and a Players Championship
I don't know why, but the more Sergio struggles and gushes out rants the more satisfying it is to watch.
Note the microphones at 2:59. Those TV people know exactly where they need to put them to capture the sound of a ball going into the water.
Sergio at 17 is must see TV.
His comment was "Story of my life". And that is why he has never been a bigger winner on the tour. He famously said years ago that he didn't have what it takes to win multiple majors.
$54,067,659
Total Career Earnings
@@supersupersocco Yep. In 23 years that averages out to 2.3 million per year. Keegan Bradley for instance has career earnings of 30k which in 14 years avgs 2.1 million a year. A lot of players that win pretty well have avgs like that. Garcia has/had the talent to do way better but for his head.
@@christhornton1785 woah you just became his accountant in a matter of seconds. What about endorsements? What about perks being one top 10 golfers for how long now 👀 mate 🤣🤣🤣
@@supersupersocco I will concede that I am willing to be an underachiever in a sport and take home $54m in earnings
If you need more evidence that proves how challenging golf truly is, just simply watch is video.
Nice profile picture
Adams to the raider 😠
It's like watching Rogers in the playoffs.😅
Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving tool than Sergio Garcia 😂😂
Hahahahaha yes agree!
জকক্
Embarrassing to 🇪🇸
Sergio wanting to beat Woods. Not even close sums it up alright
That's the freaking story of my life on every hole with water.
Could also make a vid of Sergio’s great shots on 17.
Not a fan
Totally. To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail
That wouldn't be nearly as fun to watch.
LOL, "In the water." 1:14😂😂
Then there’s the hole in one
Just aim for the centre of the green Sergio 😆
He's not that smart
The bad shots are pushed or mishit.
@@glumbum6 oh I thought he was aiming for the water 😉
Well that makes me feel a lot better about the state of my game around water.
This hole living rent free in his head
How he won a green jacket still boggles me
Seriously? He’s an incredible talent. Anyone capable of shooting in the mid 60’s can win a major
@@jimlahey3919 lots of people shoot 60s, but don’t win it
He needs to go with Pinnacles ball, that will take some spin off that ball
The irony of brooks promoting the tour at the end of the video is priceless lol
He did ace this hole, however
Sergio consistently goes short on this hole. You’d think he’d have the right number to make sure that doesn’t happen. Try going long Sergio and you should end up in the middle of the green lol
I've been to the stadium course, I can imagine it's in between clubs for him and most others. Tiger used a soft 9 most of the time I believe. The power draw players like Sergio and Fred couples, had a rough time with this hole throughout their careers.
@@joshuanorris5092 youd think after so many years hed be able to adjust. but its 90% in his head and thats a hard place to adjust when you step up this hole
first one is such a good shot too
I'm surprised he never threw a tantrum with all those water shots.
The cup was refusing him anywhere near, in case he spit into it
His ego obviously won't let him hit a 9 iron 😂
Seriously. He needs to tell himself he needs more club and go with the 9 iron.
He needs to be an amateur and not clean the grooves on that PW!! Just for this tournament haha
I just need him to take on more club and aim for the center! 🤣 He didn’t really miss left or right.
I think he needs to go up one club
His ball going in the water is set on replay.
If you watch this sergio, don't feel bad, it happens to the best of us 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😭😭
If he used the Costco balls it wouldn't spin back so much lol
Those Kirkland balls spin more than most anything Ive ever hit! Every other ball at Costco? Youre probably right lol.
@@jacobmccain8082 Yeah and they are noticeably shorter distance wise than pro v1's as well
Wow
It’s such a simple shot on paper. Hit a pitching wedge at the middle of a green. So incredibly simple. When you add in a crowd, and try to attack the pin, it becomes much harder.
Gotta back spin no matter what on that hole, truly horrifying to play
you mean take off spin
Love the crowd cheering in 2013 lol
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy...😁
😂😂😂
Always short. I will never understand why players don't respect this hole... just go for the middle of the green, and back yourself to two-putt for par with a chance of a birdie.
cuz playing like that won't let you win pga's bro. No risk, no reward especially on this level of playing.
He already had the lead. He needed to just protect it. He did not protect it.
Everyone of his shots are to short , the caddy needs to give him his 9 iron and accidentally break his pitching wedge after the 16th green every round….. lol 😆
me on every par 3
18 at Carnoustie will haunt him forever
I wanna know how many golf balls are in that pond. Not only after this past weekend but in general. They have to dredge that out daily.
While discussing good character, Sergio is never even considered in the conversation. Masters win or not.
Next year Sergio puts "In the Hole"
Don’t be too ambitious on this hole. Aim for a par or bogie and walk away from it.
1:14 “GET IN THE WATER!” 😂😂😂
This is my daily basis
1:15 get in the water!!!!! 🤣
Has anyone hit out of the bunker? I want to see highlights of that
Happened last week. Forget the player. They’ve got a camera in the bunker face just like some of the bunkers at the Open.
I play this hole on the Golf + Oculus quest VR Game, it's not easy !
Hole 17 is made of ice
Club up Serg…trust me on this one.
Most times titles like these are clickbait, but boy Sergio has had a rough go of this hole lol
Everyone has the bogie hole. Even the top players :)
I think most ppl would swap their story for his tbf.
Maybe club up?
I would aim for dead center of green regardless of where pin is.
Is it wrong that I enjoyed this as much as I did? Nah.
Increíble, siempre le pasa. Pobre
hahaha this breaks my heart
Does he not tee up the ball? Hmmm I feel this must be the problem on why he was always short or if not he's using the wrong club. Getting on the green at all cost is life on this hole.
Most of those looked like mis-hits based on his body language.
What happens when you spit in the cup. LOL!
One would think he would try to hit it further on subsequent shots.
There's no way I could ever hit a ball with enough backspin to rip it off the green. You see this each year at the Players. The pros just hit it so pure. Me, not so much! 😂
Worked with a guy who got a hole in one here. Told him to just quit golf because he was never going to top that.
If he threw his shoe first...just saying
Perhaps club up?
Would think short short short he would go up a club
Extra club and hit over the pin with less spin?
It is kinda funny. He keeps repeating the same mistake. :D
This hole is, imho, unfair. It's already a small green, but then it's built up so that balls that land on roll off. Telling players that there is only one safe area of the green to land the ball is plainly infair.
This guy could find water on mars.
Throw your shoe Sergio lol
Boy, these Sergio haters have a lot of hate in their heart. Life's too short, its going to be ok.
Let's admit that Sergio does make the game more exciting. It's easy to pile on him, as he brings it upon himself though.
2 words. One more club
I've never cared for Sergio, so I don't feel bad watching him lose his balls.
Anybody who screams “get in the hole” needs to just leave 😂
Too sad! I can't watch this!
Couldn’t happen to a better guy 😂😂
He aced it, too.
I will watch this just to see the face of Sergio...lol
With all that bollox he does gripping the club at address I'm not surprised.
Not sure why most players just don't take yardage to middle of green and hit it there? I get it if you have to make birdie to win on Sunday BUT the previous rounds you do not.
Hopefully you can get this message to them somehow. It could be a game changer.
@@UncleRicoOSU ouchy
Ok why is the pga tour making this video? They can’t make highlights or anything they have to point out the flaws of one of the best players in the world
God watching this was painful
Tin Cup
When it matters, Garcia always chokes on the 17th. Maybe he should spit straight up and wait for it to splatter his face.
been there on much more easy holes.
Guy has put way too much spin on shots that require less spin. See his 13 strokes on 15th at Augusta
Take a longer club for Christ sake!
2017 was ok
Such a history or hitting RIGHT and SHORT and always with a LOT of spin.......why not take another club and take a bit off it.....its as if He was always forcing and when it was bad he forced more and more........very curious.
No player I love to see bad things happen to more than Sergio. Maybe Patrick Reed.
Put every player on a lie detector and ask them if they’ve ever illegally improved a lie, taken an improper drop, or illegally placed their ball on the green. I bet 98% fail the test.
@@HughJorgan1 and that makes it ok for Patrick Reed to habitually cheat? I’ve never seen a pro do what he does so often and I’ve been watching golf for 20 plus years. Golf is supposed to be about integrity. Too many people could care less and won’t think twice to cheat to win. Shameful
@@jbanders2358 ..Lol, you say he “habitually cheats” based on one incident?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with what he did. All I’m saying is that many players have likely done the same or worse, particularly in the old days before cameras on every hole.
I also recall a tourney just a couple years ago where Rory cheated by claiming he had a plugged lie in deep rough. The replay clearly showed the ball bouncing once. The commentators just let it go…because it was Rory.
As an avid golfer for over 20 years, I will admit both Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed are some of my least favorite golfers out on the tour because Garcia can't control his temper when things aren't going well and Reed is a total cheat.
@@HughJorgan1 people hated him for a reason, his body language, his evasiveness, the way he is improving the lie (multiple times shoving the sand) with blank face, and its clearly recorded (pure evidence). People are more likely be hated with supporting evidence and forms their opinion from what they see. Your argument is everyone might also did that, but there is no concrete evidence. Majority of people will hate the one they see, not based on truth. That is how media works. But defending obliviously the one that is proven by concrete evidence is being such a fool.
Take another club Serg..
Sergio isn’t a nice guy so this is kinda nice to watch xD
Gotta admit, I like watching Sergio having a hard time. I think it's because he's been chasing Tiger his entire career, and never quite getting there.
You could say that about everyone though.
🐰🐰🐰
Hard to muster much sympathy for a multimillionaire who hangs his head and bemoans "that's the story of my life".
First world problems. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t have any.
caddy needs to over rule him and make him hit 9
Can't feel bad for one of the biggest jerks to ever swing a club!
I don't like Sergio because of his long history of losing his temper during the tour when things aren't going well, don't get me wrong. However, I dislike Patrick Reed miles more because he has a penchant for blatantly cheating.
