    Nice work on the regulator Badger. The removal and install didn't look too bad on this Golf MK3 where you had opening in the door to bring the regulator out of. On the Jetta MK4, the entire regulator is mounted on a metal carrier and the door lock module has to be removed too. What a PIA! Keep up the good work Badger...

      Thanks Terry. This one wasn't too bad, you just have to be careful about damaging fragile old trim parts.

    Old video but a new comment! I got mine in, and the 90° plastic piece was out of its tab spot. Ordered another one and same situation. Both of them don’t have enough slack to be able to pull it into its spot. I’ve taken out the coil and even one less wrap around is way too much. Any advice?

    I had to replace one in my 2005 Chevy twice. The new part was crap so I got good at replacing door regulators. Like you! There you go, done! Nice one.

    CLEARLY the European door cards are mounted TOTALLY DIFFERENT than the North America Mk3 doors because if I did what you did, I would have snapped off at least seven mounting clips. I guess the later Mk3 VR6 GTI didn't have the Allen head screws running along the edges of the sides and underside of the door card. Also, the door release handle stays attached to the door when you remove the door card. Weird that your door speaker is mounted to the door card and not the door.

    Why do your motor goes up or down only step by step ? I see you have to click many times to open or close the window. Can you explain please?

    I think the mk3 is the worst design... a bit of a pain.The orange piece at 7:55 might be touching the window as it goes up & down (pull the orange piece through the body panel to secure it).

    I wonder if they designed the door around the regulator or the regulator around the door because of that nice big opening. I changed one out on a '06 Ford Taurus last year and what a pain! Everything is riveted :( Good job!

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  8 лет назад

      There's a reasonable amount of space but I hate taken off old door trims. The clips always break or they don't go together properly. I've been putting off trying to fix that window for over 2 years! Only when it totally breaks I get brave enough. I'm starting to think Ford are getting worse than VW for mechanic friendly fixes

    hi do you know the regulator of coupe is same or not like a 4 door mk3?

  • @rhkips
    @rhkips 8 лет назад

    Window regulators can be so finicky! The driver's side on my Passat still isn't quite right...
    If you have a chance, roll the window down, grab some silicone grease/paste, and run a few fingers' worth up and down each side of the window channel, then pull the door panel and get some more in in the channels inside the door. Get all four doors while you're at it! It'll make life easier on the motors. :)

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  8 лет назад +1

      yeah it needs some more love that's for sure! I have greased that one previously to stop the intermittent stopping. At least it's up for now so I can drive the car again. I might have a spare motor in my box of bits...

  • @baladar1353
    @baladar1353 4 года назад +1

    OK, now let's see a vid about how you roll the window down (to get the regulator out) when the motor is broken. It's easy to take the whole door apart if the windows is down, but what to do when it's up and stuck!

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  4 года назад +1

      They normally just drop down and rattle around

    • @baladar1353
      @baladar1353 4 года назад

      @@Badgertronix So I have to destroy the whole regulator to take it off the door? Sometimes I wonder how could they design such things that can't be taken apart without abusing if they're broken. Imagine the same on a '90 Mercedes.

      @baladar1353 I'm stuck here because the regulator is broken and the window stay closed, can't remove it, I'm near to smash the entite window 🫤

      @@MrTruth11943 Take the door panel off, then you can detach the motor from the cable harness.
      Then you can connect a small 12V battery to the motor directly, and roll the window down, easily.
      Sorry for the late reply.
