You as a youtuber don't owe anyone anything. You can talk only about what you want and when you want to. We all like your pets, but you should also take care of your own well being! ❤❤
Poor Aero, it’s really tough when they’re ill and some do take an extra bit of our hearts when they go. Sending you much love ❤ I hope Aero can enjoy his time with you and the boys, he looks like a joy to be around.
You want to know what my rats love , I use my 7 year Olds old pants and use zip ties making tye pants go side ways in cage. It makes like small tunnel and great sleeping spots for them. Best thing I have used so far.
I had two rats that I’m pretty sure we’re genetically related both pass from heart failure around the 1-1.5 year mark. I felt so terrible and like I failed them even though I know it wasn’t my fault. You’re such a great rat mom, he was lucky to have you.
Dear little Aero, your life may have been short, but you got the most loving rat mom. Sweet dreams. 🥀 Definitely have also had points in the last few years where several pets have been sick at the same time and it just feels like you want to curl up and cry because it takes such a toll on you. I really hope that you'll get break from the heartbreak. ❤
I am so sorry to hear about Aero; it's extra hard when they are still relatively young and when you are so connected to them. My heart goes out to you and poor little Aero 💔. I am glad the other rats are doing better.
It's so hard when there's nothing you can do. I had to put my first rat to sleep this past saturday because of a zymbals gland tumor, and I cried way more than I expected. I was an absolute blubbering mess at the vet because he was being such a good boy for me, letting me kiss and cuddle him, even though he was my most energetic boy. But even though he was only 2 years old and I had to say goodbye, thank you for being my main inspiration to get all of my boys. I would much rather have loved and lost than to never have loved at all ♥️
You talked about CHF in rats. My Syrian hamster Wiggles was diagnosed with CHF a few weeks ago. She scared me when I found her lying on her side breathing hard and fast. The vet was great in diagnosing her, but it took most of the day to get the answer. She is now on three different medications, which have helped her act and breath normally. She will turn 2 years old next month and will probably be on medication for the rest of her life. Her quality of life has improved greatly because she is more active than she had been in the past few months. Hope your rats get better soon.
Thank you for being do open. Its easy to look at people with rats on the internet and think thats its all cute and rosy but in reality it can be really hard! I'm so sorry about little Aero! So sweet to see river growing up though!
You are one awesome lady.and you do not have to explain yourself to everyone you are just human.and i learnt alot so far from your videos.im a rat mom for only 3weeks now 2girls they are 7 weeks old now.and im from south africa hope you get well soon
Rest well little Aero. My previous hamster passed due to CHF, and it really sucks to know there's nothing you can do (other than keep them comfortable and make the hard choice when you can't do that anymore), it's just this horrible inevitable thing. I really hope in a vlog soon you're apologizing (not that you EVER! need to apologize for your videos!) for it being short, because nothing really happened that month. Nothing tragic, nothing stressful, not even anything exciting - just a month where a lovely person and all of her lovely pets lived their lives in a completely uneventful way. You really deserve that.
Such an honest video, I think it’s really good you’ve made it, especially showing how to burrito administer meds. We’ve lost two girls recently and it has been really sad, but it’s all part of it. We still 💕🐁
I’m so sorry, it’s not fair that two hard months were right after each other. Please don’t blame yourself for not filming in the hardest moments, I think your content is interesting even if it is you retelling what happened with a couple of clips. I enjoy watching your videos because we share the same love for animals, not because you film them when they are struggling. Hoping this autumn is easier on you and your pets ❤️
August was tricky here too, my 1 yr old girl grow 2?? Mammory tumours. Thankfully I was recommended a great vet. She operated and found a oddity she hadn't seen before. There wasn't 2 tumours, it was 1 that was kind of joined in middle.( Kind of a kidney shape). Then my rescue pygmy hedgehog became ill, and one night I was giving him his bath. I turned to get his towel and he had passed away. What a stressful wk. I'm honestly glad August is over.
Similar thing that happened with your Aero happened to my Nova, only hers was chronic Rat Respiratory disease that had become resistant to the antibiotics. She also had a serious heart arrythmia (the vet thinks this was caused by the RRD). She was only 1.5 years old and I had to make the decision to let her go as really the only other option was to keep her in an oxygen chamber the rest of her life...
I had that happen with a 1 year old rat. Then she had a stroke, recovered then had a second stroke. I had to rush to the vet in the middle of the night to put her to sleep. It was incredibly tragic. I saved her from a pet store and somehow she defied odds so I wasn't too surprised by her earlier than normal demise but it was traumatic to say the least.
Years ago I found one of my rats Oreo in respiratory distress and unfortunately he had to PTS it was so distressing seeing him like this. Sending hugs ❤ Being a rat mum can be painful 😢
Aww, I’m so sorry you’ve been going through such a hard time. Sending wishes of healing to you and your furry sweethearts. I’m so sorry about Aero, he seemed so sweet. I’ve had 5 rats in total. My first rat I took from a relative (who was way to young to have her parents getting her a rat)she was lovely, and I learned a lot. I still feel bad that she had to deal with my inexperience. But she seemed happy, and I hope she was. Then I got 2 from a breeder, and fell totally in love. 2 months later I got their younger half sister and they took to her like duck to water. And then I rescued a rat from a big box pet store. She was alone for i don’t know how long, made me so mad. She was cage aggressive, and a biter. She hated my other rats, but came to trust me, and she became the very best girl. She was a heart rat, and the youngest rat I got from the breeder, was also a heart rat to me. They are all gone now, and I just haven’t had the fortitude of heart to get any more rats. Maybe later in life, but it’s so painful, taking on a pet that’s destined to fall ill and have a short life span. It hurt so very badly. Sorry I went on, but this vlog made me emotional…your Aero looked a lot like my Koi. And it brought my pocket dogs to mind. Again, big hugs to you 💙
Bless your hearts, all you rat lovers! I’ve been through the same, and it’s heartbreaking. Rats have such wonderful, big personalities. And I know they have emotions, too. Mine used to love being chased by a big feather (controlled by me) and then they would get giddy and jump & frolic just like baby lambs. They liked being tickled by the feather and chasing it around. That was just one of our fun games.
I lined the walls of my rats' cage with table mats from the dollar store. Id say maybe 8 inches tall. Then I used paper tape on the outter side to hold them together. Once that was done, I poured the hemp bedding in the cage. It works very well and it is deep enough to absorb pee and odors. It is pleasing to look at because the design part is on the outside. It also looks very clean and obvioudly extremely affordable to make and they dont chew it.
I used to do a similar thing with just cardboard zip tied to the bars when needed. Hopefully i can have them all living in together now but if i had known it was going to be this long I definitely would've haha
I know what you mean. The 2 rats that I adopted, one of them came with a tumor and it's getting huge. I saw the vet and talked to a rescue group. For now I let him be. I dread putting him to sleep and I dread adopting a new rat because I dont know how my other rat will react to a new addition.
I'm so sorry, it's so hard when you've had what feels like a lifetime with them by your side, 17 years is such an amazing age for a Lab to get with you
Just to throw in a very adhd observation which has absolutely nothing to do with anything.... I adore your shirt on this video -- the color is just so incredibly beautiful that I was having trouble focusing on anything you talked about... Which might show, now that I think about it 🤔😅 Though I did pay some attention, and I do hope all the troubles you've had to deal with will ease off soon ❤
heyy ! i'm soon to be moving into my own place where i will be able to let my ratties free roam fully and was wondering if you would do a video on how to properly rat proof an apartment ^^
sorry for your loss hun :( i hope things getting better for you I have issues atm with my Luna he's 4 months old and currently on his own, I've tried two intros with 6 5-week old kittens as they will need a larger cage then what they currently have, problem is Luna just barrels them almost right away, my older boy was amazing with kittens but Luna is the completely opposite and at this rate its making me question if he's worth breeding after he hits 6 months :( I hope things change soon but any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated
Are they only 5 weeks old? Definitely don’t try intros with them again until they’re at least 8 weeks old it can go wrong so quickly and they’re so fragile at that age. What method of introductions are you doing?
i read it was fine on the NFRS site i tried to link it to you but the comment got auto removed so i will copy and paste the section on it Separating and Introducing When separating the kittens, to save cage space you could put the young bucks in with other males until homes are found, and the kitten does can stay with mum or go back into my communal does' cage. Put all the rats back in and watch and wait. Never put the young rats into another rats environment without cleaning the area first or they are more likely to attack the newcomers as a threat. The idea is to confuse the scents of all the rats concerned and the new toys and food helps to add another distraction. It is strongly advised that you do not introduce the rats just before you are about to go to work or bed, if there are any serious problems then you will not be around to deal with them, so make sure that you have some spare time on your hands before attempting to introduce your rats. Once introduced the community will then need to re-establish its hierarchy. This can often be quite distressing to watch as the adult rats may terrorise the new kittens, pinning then down and 'scuffing' them with their paws and making a huffing type noise. Keeping a water spray handy to calm the dominant rats down if they begin to get a little over zealous with their 'dressing down' is a great idea. It is a good idea to provide a small tube in the area that only the young kittens can fit into as a 'bolt hole' for them. The kittens may sit frozen for long periods of time and you may hear a lot of squeaking. This should last anywhere up to 48 hours before slowly tailing off, and eventually the other rats will then begin to allow the new arrivals to eat and sleep with them. Remove the kittens if any serious fighting occurs or if blood is drawn, remember to watch your fingers when splitting any fights up as you may unintentionally get bitten in the process. There have been rare cases of the kittens being killed if you have a particularly dominant rat in the cage, in the majority of cases all should work out well but you will need to use your own judgement, if at all worried remove the kittens and try again when you are around to keep an eye on what is happening, or find another place for them to live. i followed these guidelines but sadly never got past the first stage with luna, where as Abel my big male was amazing with them from the get go, sadly tho abel and his brother cain went to their forever home today im going to wait till their between 8 to 10 weeks before trying again @@Emiology
I hope you have a much better month I know the last few have been stressful. I have a question for you. I just got two 7 week old male rats and one of them have been a bit aggressive. He started to nibble but I would pull away and then he actually bit me. I’m now too scared to even put my hand in the cage or hand feed him. My other rat is really skittish. What should I do??
HEY I HAVE A QUESTION! So, I have a rat that's about a year and a half old. He is in tact and is a rescue. He was housed alone for being a biter and aggressive. Towards me at first, he never showed any signs of aggression. When we tried to introduce him to my other in tact bucks, he would start to approach them from the side and lounge at them. This resulted in minor injury's that I failed to prevent as he was so focused on attacking them. My other bucks have never shown any signs of hormonal aggression and has never bit me. Yesterday, I was holding him and just walking around my room when he spotted one of the bucks at the cage and immediately poofed up with hackles and bit me extremely hard to the point where I had to go to the emergency room. He has not bitten nor been aggressive since. I also have several doe's that are all very sweet. Loki, the buck that bit me, does have one other cage mate though that's it. The cage mate is much younger but I do fear he may be aggressive towards the cage mate (Eddie) once Eddie comes of age 3-8 months. Should I take the risk and neuter him? And if I do should I put him with the doe's or try the bucks again?
Is being in a split cage stressing them out at all or are they OK? I've thought of keeping the new rats in the bottom and current ones in the top but was scared they'd get frustrated
I dont know if u are going to see this but anyways i got two male rats for my birthday in may a week before my birthday becuase my brother had them and he didnt wnat them anymore over work and stuff but i am 14 and i cant hold myrats buz theyare biting meso i am thinking of swapping them for mice anyone have any tips ❤loveyour videos btw❤
Pls reply i need help because i am a beginer for rat . Why my rat alwy bite to me 😢 Does he think my finger is food or he scare of me ? What sould I do .pls reply should I stop feeding with hand? Can my pet rat biting hurt?
⚠️ Hi I’m so sorry but I have a question that might be urgent? So I have 2 wonderful female rats who I’ve had for just over a year now and I love them so much. They are so friendly and love to come out and play with me. So neither of them have ever done this before, but crumble (my grey rat) has a smudge of brown/red around her right eye. She is acting the same as usual but I’m not sure what this is and wether to be worried. Some info that might be helpful: We haven’t cleaned their cage in a long time and it was staring to smell a lot so we cleaned it out. I spread some of their old bedding around th top to not stress them too much and left it at that. Recently I got a new hamster who I keep in the same room as them. Futenburg, her cage mate, recently got a little cut on her back. She got her tail stuck Kinder their hut and I had to come and let her out Edit: Please I realy realy need an answer I’m worried and I just want to do what’s best for my little potatoes.
Once I had to pay over 3,000 dollars for my cat cause his kidney was failing and I didn’t have the money either but I luckily was able to use my college fund money for it.
Owning rats is so difficult. They have too much personality for their life spans. I lost my heart rat in December and then three more in the last few months. All the loss comes at once ❤
I know you're not raising rats anymore but what's your longest rat life you've had? I have a girl right now who is 2 years and 9 months. But I feel her time is coming down to only weeks left. :(
@Emiology this is a first for me to have one this long. Although it's not common, she was a feeder bin baby, too. As my roll continued, I have learned a lot from you over the years. Now I only go through breeders or I will rescue. Thank you for all your content. I often listen to your videos more than once. You're a true gem!!!

If you want you can drill small holes in metal top piece and use small nut bolt and washers to hang stuff
I lined the walls of my rats' cage with table mats from the dollar store. Id say maybe 8 inches tall. Then I used paper tape on the outter side to hold them together. Separating and Introducing
When separating the kittens, to save cage space you could put the young bucks in with other males until homes are found, and the kitten does can stay with mum or go back into my communal does' cage. Be wary of doing this unless your adult cages are settled and pretty tolerant as adults can damage young kittens. Bucks are usually easier to introduce to adult bucks at this age. The ideal is to have extra space available and to have one cage of young bucks and one of does until the surplus kittens that you are not keeping have left for their new homes.
Introducing the kittens to adult rats is generally a great deal easier than introducing an adult rat to another adult rat, particularly in the case of bucks. One suggested method is below:
Dot each rat with a drop of vanilla essence on the chest, (you could also bath all the rats in a mild animal shampoo for the same effect), place all the rats together in a neutral environment until settled or about an hour. Thoroughly clean out the cage or tank which they are due to go into. Move some cage accessories to different places or add a new toy, and also add some favorite food into the area.

Is being in a split cage stressing them out at all or are they OK? I've thought of keeping the new rats in the bottom and current ones in the top but was scared they'd get frustrated
I talk about that in the video 😊 it really depends on the rats but they’re not too fussed
@@EmiologyI'm sorry! I got a bit too excited and commented straight away 😅😂 thanks xx

Some info that might be helpful:
We haven’t cleaned their cage in a long time and it was staring to smell a lot so we cleaned it out. I spread some of their old bedding around th top to not stress them too much and left it at that.
Recently I got a new hamster who I keep in the same room as them.
Futenburg, her cage mate, recently got a little cut on her back.
She got her tail stuck Kinder their hut and I had to come and let her out
Edit: Please I realy realy need an answer I’m worried and I just want to do what’s best for my little potatoes.
Please
I’m worried and I just want to do what’s best for my rats.
Anyone????
I don’t know if it’s urgent or not and wether I shoudj take her to the vets
Try asking on the r/rats subreddit, people are helpful there
Poor aero
Once I had to pay over 3,000 dollars for my cat cause his kidney was failing and I didn’t have the money either but I luckily was able to use my college fund money for it.
That’s why I have insurance for my bigger animals but it just doesn’t work out cost effective for the smaller pets
Owning rats is so difficult. They have too much personality for their life spans. I lost my heart rat in December and then three more in the last few months. All the loss comes at once ❤
🐀 I do not envy you. I'm sorry that you're going through all of this..
aaa no automatic subtitles :((((((((
It might take a few hours for RUclips to load them
🤍
I know you're not raising rats anymore but what's your longest rat life you've had? I have a girl right now who is 2 years and 9 months. But I feel her time is coming down to only weeks left. :(
My oldest was one month short of 3 years old, never had any reach 3, most only made it to 2, so 2 years and 9 months old is a great age to get to :)
Wth would anyone want to film their animals dying??
Honestly some ppl make me realise why I prefer animals.
First pls pin also I love your vids ❤
You do not have to listen to people tell you how to do YOUR own channel...
Just rats. But have more medication that humans. This is sick
Hello Emi, love this post and great content! I've sent you an email. Kindly take a look and I will do my best, thank you!
Her rat dying is "great content"? Respectfully, show some sympathy
