I'm not even sure he's top-10 to be honest. Four good years at RBR in a car perfectly suited to his needs and then boom and slump, and more slump.
I'd rate Jim Clark, Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Schumacher, Fangio, Jack Brabham, Nelson Piquet, all ahead of Seb, and probably Alonso as well. Max will no doubt be in that list when he retires.
He was brilliant on his day but unless he was in a superior car he wasn't getting it done. He was never the driver to drag a car to a finish it didn't deserve.

Agreed but id say not below Fangio, Brabham or Nelson Piquet. I'd say he's on par with Alonso and they both have unique driving styles that doesn't suit every car.
Also yea Max will no doubt be way up there on the list. Like Lewis, he can leave the garage on friday and even when the team hasn't found the ideal setup he's still the fastest guy out there in the turns.

@@BoltsJungle Fangio is a five time world champion and handily beat other legends such as Ascari, Hawthorn, Moss and Collins. Brabham won three WDC, in 1966 in a car he built himself. Piquet also a three (should've been four perhaps) WDC in the most competitive era ever. Come on.

@@gr0bbelaar yea but fangio and brabham are so ancient that it’s like comparing chalk and cheese. Piquet is a great driver and id say he is on that same vettel/alonso tier
Edit: and the only reason im ok with rating clark above him is because he is the only triple crown winner so we gotta give respect there

@@BoltsJungle Just because they raced in the golden age doesn't mean the ysuck, it just means that GOAT discussions other than "who is the best of the past decade" is feeble, and merely fun as a pastime. How would anyone be able to compare what Nuvolari, Caracciola or Rosemeyer achieved with what Vettel and Hamilton has accomplished?
