some improv

I used to just sit down and play the piano all the time, but I’ve gotten out of the habit in the last couple years. I would come up with an idea, then improvise around that one thing for a while. Sometimes I would wander into other keys or ideas, but I’d always return to the main one. Over the past few years I’ve forgotten how cathartic it is to just play, with the freedom to experiment but the stability of a home theme to return to if I get stuck. I’ve definitely lost some of my keyboard skills over Covid so this one’s pretty simple.

For the first time in 54 years I quit playing; been a year now. The lockdowns, loss of freedom, closure of my precious wilderness trails, rise of immorality, forced medical tyranny, political tyranny...all...crushed my spirit. I had just completed over 60 albums in the last 3 years, now looking for a reason to come back. I write solo piano songs like you are playing, just improvising until God whispers in my ear..."that one". For my synthesizer orchestrations all I need is a photo of wilderness, and I am off creating sounds, then find a scale that fits, then practice and record. Hope you continue with these piano improvs and work them into solid songs, then present us with a new album.
