    Hey Larry, welcome back! Just started a new job as a quant dev in risk visualization and modeling for an energy/capital markets firm recently. They loved some of the portfolio projects I built inspired in part by concepts from your videos. Great practical content you put out there and super helpful for developers getting into the finance side of things!

    Love your brilliant content, Larry. Could you do a video / series on comparing various Alpaca Connected Apps such as Streak, Breaking Equity, CandleX, QuantFu, etc? They supposedly enable algo trading without the need for coding - I wonder how robust these platforms are.

    • @parttimelarry
      @parttimelarry  2 года назад +1

      I most likely won't cover these since I want my channel to remain coding focused. There are many other channels that do demos of no-code / push button solutions, so don't think I provide much benefit there.

    • @parttimelarry
      @parttimelarry  2 года назад +1

      Can you elaborate on what you mean by third party scams? They use most of the same tools I use: python, pandas, matplotlib, ccxt. They are all open source and support a variety of brokers and exchanges. They all require me to write code, they just provide a development structure / framework as described in the video. Perhaps you are getting these confused with other types of bots that are not made for developers.

    I've been trying to install Linux on WSL2 on a secondary SSD drive so I can install Freqtrade. It's really the only way I am able to do it. It's been a colossal pain in my ass. Finally got to the point where I was able to install Freqtrade on my Linux installation on my secondary drive and all of a sudden WSL2 decides to not recognize the linux installation. Gonna try it one more time and give up.

    Every time I look into the space, I find a bunch of projects that are dead or near-death. As an example, backtrader seems to need a bunch of undocumented duct-tape fixes, and the repo itself doesn't seem to be merging simple PR's for over a year.
    It's sad because making a backtesting platform is a huge undertaking, and although I've started doing just that, every time I see how much code and functionality is nominally in any of the semi-dead projects, I'm discouraged.

    • @wickedgummybear3104
      @wickedgummybear3104 2 года назад +1

      I looked at most of the popular ones a year ago and came to the same conclusion. Either projects died, cost a lot of monthly fees to actually use properly because the basic fee was just too bare minimum or were broken/not properly documented/useless. Making your own is only beneficial if you already know design strategies/architecture design and coding. I feel you mate

    Can you do a video on how to be a digital nomad, given your travels while working?

    • @parttimelarry
      @parttimelarry  Год назад

      Hmm...I have thought about setting up a separate channel to discuss other topics, since this one is finance / coding focused and I have some other interesting life things to talk about. I feel like there are enough channels about digital nomad topics at this point though. Perhaps I have worked from home so many years that it doesn't seem that novel anymore? Do you think there is another angle to cover here? I talked about some recent travel at the end of this one since it had been a while since I posted a video. Maybe I will talk about my most recent trip at the end of my next video and see if anyone watches that far and I'll get some feedback about it. I think I am going to eventually have a separate channel where I talk about AI / ML outside of finance, so maybe I will share more other life stuff there.

    • @user-wr4yl7tx3w
      @user-wr4yl7tx3w Год назад

      @@parttimelarry For me, it’s interesting because of your background and perspective as a developer and taking that angle as a digital nomad. So it’s in that context of your knowledge in finance and tech, that makes your opinion interesting. That’s what differentiates I think.
