      @@Allangulon Oh? I beg to differ. To explode is to: "burst or shatter violently and noisily as a result of rapid combustion, decomposition, excessive internal pressure, or other process, typically scattering fragments widely." Not all explosions are a result of combustion!!

    • @jakeking974
      @jakeking974 2 года назад +7

      Fun fact, through aerosolizing, most things are explosive! That's why grain silos explode, the fine powder of the grain floats for a long time in the air, and all it takes is a spark for the flame to transfer exponentially, extending to instantly consuming the oxygen and creating an explosion of expanding gaseous forces. Most things that are in any way flammable are the same; at a small enough surface area, they can be ignited in an instant, using their own flame to propagate an incredible explosion.

      It is. It's a very interesting and very real chain reaction.
      The thing you have to realize is, the chain reaction starts with the first rip... and think about that for a moment.
      So think about the reaction if all of the pages were identical and without imperfection. Just a somewhat spongey and very slightly springy and bendable material. If you had a perfect stack of pages, where does the first rip happen?
      The first rip won't happen at the top because the top is where the paper has the most ability to bend... and even if the rip does occur there, that's just one page, and the next in line becomes the top page in the reaction and has a full 90 degrees to bend.
      The first rip won't happen at the bottom, because the paper is perfectly flat there.
      So the first rip is going to have to happen somewhere in the middle... and when it occurs, it will be under such immense pressure that it won't rip up and it won't rip down, it'll rip out.
      When that occurs, the pages next to this page will necessarily be ripped too when you consider the friction at that spot. Thousands and thousands of pounds of pressure, if one sheet moves out just a little bit, it will tug the adjascent sheets above and below out with enough force to rip them, and suddenly, you have an instantaneous chain reaction.
      If you want to think about it in a more principled manner, think about it like this. The press is pressing down on the center channel, but the pages outside of that channel are also being compressed by being pulled down and pressurized. There is A LOT of potential energy being stored in the form of these pages NOT ripping. When they start to rip, that is an EXTREME amount of energy being released all at once. The instantaneous release of all this potential energy is similar to that of a bomb.

    I suggested before but I'll try again: I'd like to see a paper compression with the stack of paper (or book) being smaller than both plates, so that it gets pressed evenly across all surface. Never found a video with that.

    • @burninghorse1
      @burninghorse1 2 года назад +1

      Yes, thats a Question I also ask me. In all videos there is the pressure stamp a bit smaller than the object, so the Paper bends at the corners and sides. What would happen if, e.g. the Post-Its, are put between 2 massive steel plates, so the force and pressure is all even at every point of the surface.
      When the pressure is only on parts, it is clear to see, that the force could and would get the line of the least resistance. And so expand and explodes to the sides.
      So, what would happen, if there is even pressure? Will it slip at some point also to a side and explode or get into a very dangerous projectile?
      So the next thing could be a massive steel box with a stamp where the notes and the stamp fits right in, so that nothing could slip away. What would happen here? I think maybe nothing. Or breaking the steel box. Of course it could be potentially very dangerous, so be careful.
      So many open questions? Hope there will be some answers. Thanks
