The drama also involves huge amount of dangerous action scenes,like explosions, falling, diving etc. He seldom uses substitutes, and almost always do the scenes himself, including the explosions. With injuries from these occasions plus long working hours plus pretty bad working environment, I think he was just worn out. He did not start a new drama project until 6 months after he finished this one.

I think they didn't use it because not suits for xiaoge character. Like we know, xiaoge not expressive and never show his feeling verbally. It would be weird if he said they're brothers despite we knows it. Aside of that, the author said he like to make their relationship undefined.
