- December 26th, 2017 - Toward the end of a great holiday season, we took a look at an incredible and well-loved single-owner 1956 Stratocaster, followed up by a little surprise visit from the legendary Brian Setzer before his performance at The Paramount Theater that evening!
It was great to hang out, goof off, and hear some great instruments in your hands - we love you Brian!
Happy New Year everyone!!!
favorite guitarist of all time 😎
When I was 13 years old I went to a guitar convention that Brian played at. I was shopping for my first amplifier and fell in love with a 1964 Fender Bandmaster. It was one of the first ones I looked at so I decided to look around a bit more before buying it. After checking all the amps out, I decided I wanted it. I made my way back and Brian was jamming on it! I told him i was going to buy it and he said, "that's funny, I already did"! But immediately offered to sell it to me for the same price he had just bought it for. So I can technically say my Bandmaster was owned by Brian Setzer, if only for 5 minutes. Great guy.
That’s so kool man, he sold it to you .
That’s a really cool story. The man is an icon.
@@hellbent6344 That is
That was very nice that he did that for you. Wow. 👍
Brian is well grounded. The most underrated guitarist I know. He has never let the fame go to his head and right here is proof.
Man, he's such a great player!!!
Brian Setzer is the kind of player that you can place him in any band in any decade and he will fit right in; 50's rockabilly band? gotcha covered, 30's jazz ensemble.. no trouble at all, 40's big band yes... anybody say western swing band? YES, rock n roll band in 70's of course, adult contemporary pop... with ease... 90's garage band grunge... are you kidding me? 60's lounge act? Yes nobody would ever leave the lounge, skyrocketing alcohol sales! And more!
Brian Setzer is a class act. One of the GOT
What a brilliant musician Brian Setzer is. I wish I could play a hundredth as good as Brian. 👍👍👍👍👍
Brian, a Straight up KILLER on the Guitar, hailing from LONG ISLAND
N.Y. Oh HELL YEAH Baby!!! Who Loves ya Brian......... Loved you with the Stray Cats and All the way Through till Now! Some of that Diologue was alittle rough to listen to, young Boone Couldn't make eye
contact with Brian from time to time and you could see it in Brian's eyes. Anyways it wss Great to see Brian put those instruments through their paces.....AWESOME!!
🎸💚
Could watch the man play all day long
Wow Brain Setzer hanging out and playing guitars. That's so cool. 👍
Ah, my favorite guitarist. He’s the man! Rock on Brian!
I started to play guitar because of brian!
I stopped playing guitar because of Brian!
He's a shredder
@@Shamrockjason more than just
I came into the shop about half an hour after he left that day I was so disipointed when they told me I'd missed him, but I did go see him play live that night it was a great show
Holy Cow!…..I’ve never seen such a demonstration of TONE! Minutes 4:33 to 4:41. A Simple raise of the bridge and Brian transforms that archtop with the DeArmond pickup from ‘dud to stud.’ I kid ….a great guitar. A Seriously wicked great player with tone in his back pocket to burn and that simple adj. reveals to the amp the horsepower just waiting to purr!
Blew my mind. I always do a ‘song of the day’ for my wife and StrayCats struck 10’ tonight. Then I go digging deeper….really the best thing about the meeting of guitar shop, a genius player/singer, an axe and RUclips!
He likes that action high, doesn't he?
I remember Setzer playing the local bars in Massapequa when I was 18... He was even younger than me, I think
That was amazing I love hearing the stories, Setzer of course is always entertaining. And hearing the story of playing left handed. Well done!
Awesome Video Gang!! Brain is the greatest, can play anything! Stray Cats Strut... they had me at 10yrs old!! Cheers!!
Cool video. I like your shop it is very comfortable. I like the fact that you are a right-handed gentleman that can play left-handed guitar.
Always loved this guy! Just made me a little "more" FAN, if that's even possible!
Brian is the man.
Life is good,
Robin
The Man just has old school Class, baby .
I remember him when he came out decades ago. He was stunning then. He made me want a white falcon. But I was in a rock band and Les Paul’s were the tool.
"You're guitar will be cared for and appreciated." *continuously smacks guitar*
Brian is the guitar god and he's so cool. Amazing. Great video.
This one is worth gold! Go Cat!
Seltzer is an incredible guitar 🎸player and a good singer, too. A one man band practically but I’d like to see him reform the Stray Cats and play rockabilly just one last time. Rockabilly is still popular and the tour would be successful.
Great guy! And thanks for the video.
What a legend !
The story of the Stratocaster was too cool, hope the new owner appreciates the guitar for what it is.
Watching Brian noodle around on the D'angelico was proof that notes can be played quickly and musically all at once; not everyone can pull it off so effortlessly.
noodles..
I don’t think he was noodling believe he was playing Cherokee
Emerald city geetars keep doing these videos
I mean all of them!yall in a league of your own
Hands down the best vintage Amps,Guitars shop on the left side of the states, and awesome service. And all around real folks..its always been a win win..keep on rocking .
That was a refreshing video..awesome
That D28 is insane. Looks brand new!
I've seen a LOT of great guitarists and great bands, and I'm getting to the age where not much astounds me much anymore..... but I would like to see Brian Setzer "Live On Stage" before I die, without that orchestra, just the Rockabilly combo.🎸
When I saw him live, for a christmas performance, they did a killer Gypsy Jazz trio bit, for about half an hour or so. So very excellent.
@@TheRamsberg
Thanks for your reply. I know that have to have been fantastic. I remember in the early 80s when the Stray Cats were pretty hot, but I never got the opportunity to go see them. I've seen a couple of his concerts on TV. What a guitarist. Thanks again!! Wishing you a Happy New Year!👋😊👍
@@t4texastomjohnnycat978 You're welcome. The Brian Setzer Orchestra and their trio were, to me, tied with Reverend Horton Heat for the best live performances I've seen, the former once, the latter numerous times. Which is curious, since I've seen a wide range of musical styles live, that the top two have been Rockabilly.
@@TheRamsberg
Reverend Horton Heat is another that I've only seen on TV(DVD).
Yes, you are right. He's awesome too. Are you familiar with, I believe his name is Darryl Higham? Not sure I'm spelling his name correctly. Pretty doggone good Rockabilly guitarist. I don't know if he's quite in Setzer & Horton Heat's league. I've only seen 3 or 4 performances by him on the Jools Holland TV show.
@@t4texastomjohnnycat978 I wasn't familiar with him, but I am now, thank you!
One of my guitar heroes
..this guys been cool since i was a kid!
4:30 - "That's low, you guys gotta man up on me! There we go..." I'm not sure how high he *thinks* he raised the bridge if it stayed in tune. Great stuff, Brian!
He didn't raise it too much, just enough to stop it from buzzing
Good to see that Brian can step out and play other guitars then the Gretsch
Too cool!
If he slaps that guitar one more time!!!
He is something else
2:12 should’ve held on to that memory , his mother’s guitar
Hell Bent but the $$$$$ must have been big
I’m sure he got $20k+ for that memory.
Why does then sales guy keep whacking old rare guitars worth thousands of dollars with his ring?
I'd have to fall on some HARD times before I'd let that gem leave my family.
Awesome bro I can play the same way that's awesome I grew up poor is how I learned
I had an aunt who passed away. She played gospel music all her life. She had an old Baldwin guitar, it was red and it had the f holes. I don’t know who inherited it but I know it wasn’t me.
i knew a bloke who plays right handed guitars upside down, left handed. When i asked him why, he said." Because i'm stupid".When he was a kid he would pick up his older brothers right handed guitar when he went out, as he was left handed, he flipped it over to play it. 4o years later he has never learnt to play it conventionally.
Great! Next time Brian is on the shop, please invite me too!
Exactly , I've seen 1959 electric Gibsons ES 335 going for $80.000
Cool guitar with a great story! And awesome playing Jordan, for once it's not some crazy fast blues solo all over the place demoing a guitar! Thanks
I love where Brian plays at 4:05
2:13 Why the F is he hitting the guitar?
Same 'tic' as those annoying prats you see in interviews who jerk their arms and hands as if to emphasis every syllable or who sway to and fro to emphasise their key points.
Yeah that kinda annoyed me, slapping a 1954 Stratocaster, he lacks true appreciation.
Calm your titties, I think if it can handle the last 60+ years with all the handling it’s had, it can handle a few little taps. They are meant to be played
@@56WagonWheel lol right after this he slams his hand down on it, while wearing a ring! cmon...
good lord that Strat sounds good. I got on a Tele kick and just played my Strat for the first time in months. I forgot how good it sounded...not as good as that one though...
The guy playing at the end sounded rather dull after listening too setzer and yet you could here he was an accomplished player..theres players and then theres players 😉..brian is up there among the absolute elite..setzer and emmanuel now theres a duo👍
Add Jack Pearson to that . He and Tommy play together a lot. It's a toss up as to who is better. I'd love to hear Jack and Brian. It needs to happen!
I'M RIGHT HANDED AND PLAY LEFTY TOO!
Pardon for yelling, but, YES! It just didn't click, like there was a disconnect between me and the music, if I played right handed.
3:30 flippin hell ! i got the melody but i can't remember that song haha please someone help me
Brian is the master with anything with f holes prove me wrong.
So jordan fuller is a neck pickup????
Cool video fellas 😎
what brand of jeans does Brian wear?
Great video!
Why does the strat sound like "splat"!
What city is this
He looks like Paul McArtney’s crazy younger brother
Brian...get The Stray Cats together for one last tour.....
There has to be some sort of Saturnian machine mind behind all media, mainstream or not. I mean the Saturn and star symbol in this store's open sign?? Plus it's called Emerald city music. Oz is totally occult and Saturnian. WTF is up with all of this chicanery? BTW I love Setzer's playing.
Stairway denied! !
He was "dragging guitars around as a kid", now he's banging them like a drum as an adult.
I don’t think I would sell my mothers guitar . But my mom never even touched a guitar.
Hmmm Moms legacy guitar or Money?
If this guy hangs over that guitar and bangs it one more time with spit coming out of his mouth I feel so sorry for that guitar
Red Robin by Steve Goodman
80k for an original Martin w t f are people all about no wonder rare vintage guitars are only for the super rich 💰😠🏴🥃
That middle pickup sounds as fat as a neck pickup would sound in new guitars.. pff what a sound!
cool dude Brian, nice video....but that guy with thee jewellery smashing into the guitars all the time...makes me cringe.
Geez I was feeling trollish for pointing that out on a different video, but its getting to me, like I want to go back and count the crashes on the soundtrack. Not a deal here around Super Chicken Studios but those guitars are worth real money. Wrap that Wedding Band with tape or something, Trevor.
Jimi Hendricks played upside down also .......
Anyone know the song at 3:25
could be on of a million. 1 to 2minor.
What's the small parlor Martin guitar Brian played?
gl4bj6 its a 1949 5-18!
sounds amazing!
That one.
Brian is a monster player but the shop owner is not a bad player either...
Stop slapping everything
Setzer is looking like Paul McCartney nowadays.
Nah brians too cool to be compared to anyone ❤❤Brian is brian❤
Yeah , they tell him $600 guitar is worth $80,000 hoping he'll buy it... He's not stupid
That’s worth a lot more than $600 and I’m sure he won’t spend $80,000 on a guitar even a vintage guitar.
@@jamesgretsch4894 , hell no !
Exactly , I've seen 1959 electric Gibsons ES 335 going for $80.000
Didn't know Ben Affleck own a guitar shop.
Hendrix? Page? Clapton? Screw them Brain Setzer is FAR better and much more talented.
Uhhh.. let me guess who bought the Strat.. I'm going to say the guy who buys every other vintage instruments so nobody else can have one. Joe Bonamassa.. lol
レフティのギター下さい🎸
Those aren’t the original pickups...they’re too new looking.
80 grand and keeps slapping his ring on guitar. That's just stupid. Just saying.
He didn't slap his ring on the WW II Martin. Brian played it. You and anybody that likes your comment is stupid. Just saying.
$2995 it says. But I agree, still stupid.
Jordan Fuller is sweet !!!
The martin must have been rebuilt the neck wouldn't have a truss rod either that it was made in china 🤣
Keep smacking that guitar with your ring..... fuck.
It makes me cringe seeing that wedding ring slap the body. Ding city
47 thumbs down. Fricken Democrats...
Political party affiliation has nothing to do with appreciating or not appreciating this cool music, these iconic guitars, and the AMAZING Brian Setzer! I've seen him twice with the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and his skill level and chord knowledge are insanely high-level! (And, BTW: I'm a Democrat. So much for your stereotype... 😁)
gospel...not gozpel
Next time as you intro a guitar stop slapping it,there is just no reason to treat an instrument that way.Slap on the table top or something else.
The strat part (the worst part) of this video is irrelevant to Brian Setzer. Annoying way to get your ad across guys. By the Brian doesn’t really like strats, hence it’s an insult to him!
No Guitar should cost as much as a house.
57 secs in...She played for fifty years until she done sex ???
ALWAYS LOVED BRIAN AND HIS PLAYING GRATEFUL I LEARNED ALOT FROM HIM . SO THANKS ALWAYS
