    I also had a tomato frog and it lived a pretty long time. I cohabited it with a chubby frog and they both did fine together for years. I believe they were both female.

    I accidentally mixed dairy cows and powder blues in 3 enclosures, when I first got into bioactives. They are doing well 18 months later. I am aware that the species crash usually comes at 24 months, so I keep an eye on them.

      Please keep us updated on the progress. I honestly wanted to see for myself, especially as the enclosure matures. Thank you for sharing.

    I've done plenty of planted fish tanks and had a desert lizard as a kid, but thinking about some Tomato frogs now that I no longer have fish tanks. Would bioactive substrate like this stink under any circumstance? Our landlord is worried about mold since we're in a humid area already, so I'm wondering if these types of multi-animal active setups produce much smell outside of the tank, like with a wire lid.

    im thinking of getting a tomato frog as someone who has never owned frogs before. is this kind of setup good for beginers?

    Hi in new here, I just bought my first pacman frog. I was wondering if the isopods multiply themselves or do I have to keep adding. Also what heating device do you use and how do you keep humidity levels up. I have the same tank with mesh net cover and I think it's losing humidity because if it. Thank you in advance

    • @TheBioDudeJoshHalter
      @TheBioDudeJoshHalter  Год назад +1

      Isopods are capable of multiplying themselves, their population can increase naturally if the conditions are suitable. As for heating, they require a warm environment, ideally within the temperature range of 75-85°F. We always recommend an overheat heat source to replicate the sun above, with mats, there is potential you could burn your frogs belly. Aim for humidity levels between 70-80%. We utilize our Thermometer/hygrometer to monitor both ambient temperatures and the humidity. Can they be in a mostly water environment?

    • @TheBioDudeJoshHalter
      @TheBioDudeJoshHalter  Год назад

      They thrive best in a substrate based environment, they enjoy burrowing to create a little sitting spot.

    About how much is a set up like this? Not including the tank, I have a 50 and I’m wanting to fill it but I don’t know what I want for a set up🤔I just don’t want something that is gonna be crazy expensive to set up and upkeep

    Do you need to water the plants or is misting the whole terrarium sufficient?

    • @TheBioDudeJoshHalter
      @TheBioDudeJoshHalter  Год назад +1

      Misting the overall enclosure is sufficient. If you have plants that require a little more moisture, I would recommend directing the water toward their root base.

    How long to quarantine tomato frogs?

    • @TheBioDudeJoshHalter
      @TheBioDudeJoshHalter  Год назад +1

      We recommend quarantining any species for a minimum of 2-3 weeks. This way you can monitor their eating habits along with their waste to ensure their healthy and thriving before introducing them into their environment.
