Wow just got into the scene and what a mess! Glad to see CRBN has done everything they can as a small company to protect their customers... I am from the marketing world and the future is totally in these kickstarter like grass roots companies that are being developed within their tight knit communities, you dont need a multi million dollar R&D and Marketing leg when you are living within the scene. The pickleball community is absolutely just incredible and a perfect breeding ground for these types of small businesses to develop. Unfortunately when small businesses start to cut into the profits of giants there tends to be a path leading to corruption, more legislation, and downright foul play. I was absolutely flabbergasted to say the least after watching "the kitchen" interview with the Czar of USAP paddle enforcement "Donn Paben." He made some stunning admissions in his video, this dude must live in his own absolute bubble world because it is unbelievable the stuff he was admitting to without any hint of greater public awareness to the process he was describing. #1 he admitted to having no real personal oversight over his process #2 he admitted to personally selecting whatever samples he was going to use without any process #3 he admitted to having very personal relationships to major paddle manufactures #4 he admitted to activating testing protocols based on requests from rival companies #5 he intends going forward to share none of his process or findings with the public only handing out punishments. If CRBN has the budget or means i would highly recommend getting a private investigator on this dude, he is probably on yachts wining and dining with heads from prince and babalot on the weekly. The USAP as such a powerful central force seems to be ripe for corruption and for them to have such an undisclosed process and for so much trust to be placed in powerful central figureheads is very shad and dangerous to say the very least. Watching that guy gave me the creeps and i had a very real sense of foreboding this was the very type of thing we will all watch on a netflix documentary some day

Considering what they did when Electrum was caught being too gritty, USAP has some explaining to do

Collin Johns ( Ben John's brother ) is sponsored by Electrum. The Electrum Model E feels the exact same as the CRBN 1. I have both of these paddles. Along with Joola Ben Johns new paddle failing a grit surface test. There's big money is the sport now and you are seeing favorites being played.

Nice, these are all my favorite paddles as well, lots of similarities. What do you think the deal is between these three paddles? Do you think CRBN is the only one that officially fails, or should other paddles be officially tested in general? CRBN feels singled out according to their insta statement

In my opinion the Electrum Model E doesn’t generate the spin of the original Electrum Pro. May be due to not having the “catapult effect” of the Pro. The model E is more of a control paddle.

Spin rate based on paddle is somewhat corrupted! I have watched videos of people testing paddles for spin rate, based on the person swinging the paddle SPIN RATES VARIED DRAMATICALLY, and not just a little bit! I know they try to maintain a level playing field but we know how that always works out!! Never. Swings are different and unique to the person swinging the paddle. HOW do you determine a level playing platform when I hit a gearbox paddle with an average spin rate of 1.400 after 10 balls and the next guy with like rating steps up and hits 10 balls with an average spin rate of 1,250 do I have to play with a different paddle that slows down my spin rate??

True, the outcome of Spin ratings on equipment are always unique to the player. I have noticed this especially in table tennis as well

If the USAP does start on-site testing, how extensive will the tests be. We saw the abbreviated friction test but roughness isn't all it takes to generate spin. Will they measure the COR on site? Golf had to send drivers to a lab to check the COR of the driver faces.

USAP has opened Pandora’s box! Unless they reverse their decision to ban CRBN. There is money to be made and JOOLA see’s that, is there something fishy going on? Not sure.

The 2nd paddle considered by the guy in the video is the Joola Vision CGS 16. We dont know they technically failed because we cant see the numbers on the meter. We just know what their comments are, and his comment that the players in the video dont want him to actually test them in a controlled testing environment, because he thinks they "would" fail. Nonetheless, your points and thoughts are valid. This is a very controversial issue and there are many sides to this.

@@thepickleballkids7814 True. Keep in mind the USAP official stated at the end of the video, “Yeah these are NOT going to pass”. - Granted those are just words. Although the video does have some merit and raises some questions
