my boss told me a story about how he found some poor souls remains out in the bush while gold mining in the late 70s. At the time he was working with some shady foke who were looking for mining gear to steal and sell for scrap, they came apon a forgotten logging road and followed it to a cabin with a long shed and a bunch of old machinery laying around. While the others were loading salvage into there trailer, my boss went into the cabin and found someones skeleton laying on the bed grinning at him with a bullet hole in its skull. They took the authorities out to the spot and they figured the murder went down in in 1931, as that was the last date on some documents in the cabin. Gold mining and murder go hand in hand.
its ok, in five billion years the sun will gain mass and swallow the earth whole, completely eliminating those memories in a galaxy infinitesimally small compared to the infinite reaches of space.. Or maybe its not ok, im not sure anymore. Where was i going with this?
I feel the same. Life happened here. Good times, bad times, etc. Peoples hopes and dreams. There's something about all of these discarded items, remnants left behind - items that tell a story, that resonates sadness inside of me, and it makes me want to know more. Then again, maybe I think and feel way too much.
Im in a Mojave Desert Explorers group and a few weeks ago I learned that back in the day, pioneers and huntsman used Worcestershire sauce to cover up the gamey taste on meat. A few of the Mojave Desert Explorers have come across really old and beautiful bottles of the stuff, so it was interesting to have seen a bottle of Worcestershire sauce there. As always, loved the drone footage. 👌
Terry I think it also dependant on their diet. Same thing with catfish...if you soak it in milk, it supposidly will take out the muck taste. Catfish are mud dwellers and opportunistic eaters and will eat garbage. Ive never had wild caught catfish taste good, so I always toss them back.
I really like how you take the effort to provide investigative insight and backstory. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite exploration channels.
Amazing house/workshop with a great backstory. When your exploring and I see something I would look at, I find myself saying out-loud...stop, stop, pick that up or look over there...the wife thinks I'm nuts sometimes, lol.
I love your stuff bro. It is really good. You do a great job of narrating, and that makes or breaks this kind of genre! Thanks for what you do. Seems dangerous at times. Be safe!
The Notification Itself Made me Bolt to get comfortable and the title Just added That extra mystery that I need to take my mind of The last few days Keep up the great work!
I knew Jim Malone or "Oaky Jim". In fact I would consider him a good friend. It was hard for me to believe that he was actually evolved in the murder or the thievery mentioned. Jim had a lot of friends. I never heard anyone speak Ill of him. All charges were dropped against Jim. I knew Tim Dale but not as well as Jim. Tim always seemed such a nice person. He would have been the last person I would suspect to kill anyone. But, it looks like I was wrong. What is really hard to understand....... WHY it took years for Scott Rice to come forward as a witness.
Thank you for the info Bob, and I agree, why did Scott Rice take years to come forward about what he witnessed? Do you think he was afraid? I also thought it was strange how Jim Malone and Tim Dale both told the police that Warren had drove off with California plates. Seems they didn't have enough evidence on Malone, and he may have been completely innocent, but that just seemed strange how they both lied about the stolen property and Warren driving off to California. Did you ever meet Warren?
Japan. It was in an old ryokan. It started out like any of those horror movies, house of wax, the grudge. Happy couple on vacation. After that vacation in 2018, we still sleep with a night light on. Japanese movie themes are real.
The note was beautifully written! Bet that corrugated metal outhouse might have shielded from the wind but not much insulation from the cold desert nights!
I love watching your videos you make them so interesting. I also like the way you show respect for the places not taking anything away with you. The true storytelling videos are my favourite, but I love everything you do. Wish I could explore them with you and your family. Keep up the good work. 😊
I have been watching your videos for about six months now. I have subscribed, and I like every time I watch. Have you ever run into a living human being while you were going through any house.? Have you ever run into a dead person in any of the buildings you've gone through?
The scariest things are reality and true stories and history.. Chills me!! It's creepy to think ppl lived in places this far out. Imagining how they got the materials to build houses the hard work to transport cattle and have electricity and food and crops. It's all scary because it's real... These things in history inspired horror movies I'm sure of it!!
I am so glad I found your channel. You are so amazing at what you do. You do your research and are extremely informative. For people like me with some physical limitations it's exciting to be able to explore with you. Thank you.
So I just came across this channel and I love it.(SUBSCRIBED).. I to rly enjoy exploring. Especially older places /locations and learning it's story. Since there are so many of these locations that of course I'll never get to explore I'm happy to be able to still get to visually see and hear about these places; gems Through explorers like yourself. KEEP IT UP!!
This place really does have a very violent history, I found that letter and the left behind photo album very sad too. The whole place had a very eerie vibe as it seemed to have been abandoned very suddenly.
Karen, you are so correct. Just the way the place is lay'd out with such detail and effort in building the primary home shelter, you know there were dreams and laughter placed and left here. The place is just begging any visitors to just hesitate a moment and view and feel the ghostly vibs that are drifting, shifting around with the slightest breath of wind.
So Timothy Dale killed his brother Warren Dale when he was 47-ish years old and Warren dale was 55 years old.. 1973 to 2001 is 28 years apart so.. Wow so immature at such age and kills his brother..
These places always seem creepy at first, then you find a forgotten photo album and suddenly, there's this soft, human element to it now, and it's a kind of touching and sad: memories left behind, abandoned with everything else. *ALSO* Thanks for the true crime history! So interesting!
What I like about your explorations is that each abandoned place is like a frozen time capsule and has a story to tell by what was left behind. I really like too how you do your homework on these places to find the history. The things that you find and discover intrigues and saddens me at the same time. You do a great job. I am a new subscriber and am enjoying watching all your previous videos. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!!
Another great video & really interesting story! The photo album made me sad. Kiki says she "feels bad for the people". Anyways, it makes our day every time we get to see a new video from you guys! :) Serena & Kiki
Dude. just caught onto your videos. Ya, 1970's were my glory years. I can't believe it's ancient history now. Graduated HS in 1976. AD/DC was Back in Black. Keep it up!
I just seen this video not sure if you found out any information or not. But as far as I could find out was that in the shot out Timothy Dale and Doug Fink were injured. They put Warren Dale in jail and held the Dale's father as a witness because he was the one that took his son to the hospital and had the guns. They were waiting for Timothy Dale to be released from the hospital and waiting to see what happened to Doug Fink. Which at the time both were were in fair condition in ICU. Steve Wenta was shot through the neck and chest if my memory serves me correctly.
This is legit my new favorite channel lol just discovered it tonight. The creepy music you play though kills me hahaha Makes me fast forward em because I'm a chicken shit. Keep it up guys! Amazing channel
You are literally the best damn detective out there or the luckiest urbex!!! Hands down best RUclips ....best content, best mystery, best back story, dating, camera work, commentary and research .... even your protectiveness over your wife is noted!
When you were going through the album. It was actually sad because it looked like a nice family used to live there. Great story, and how could someone kill there brother for 650 dollars. Thanks for the interesting video.
That was very interesting. I’m glad you took the time to research things. If you notice in the comments there some people related or knew some of the victims. It just makes your exploring so much truer
Yeah, I have to agree. The guy killed his own brother. Who the hell would even think of doing such a thing? I guess it's all money and greed. I'm telling you, something went wrong with humanity a very very long time ago. It's tremendously sad.
New to this channel. Awesome job guys. Especially love the places with the stories behind them. Nice to see how hard you work to research the places you find.
You asked about something that might date to 1973..........At 3:37 there is what looks to be a blue shirt, underneath it appears to be a newspaper (liner). Always enjoy your vids. Hoosier History Hunter...........
I would guess the wicker room divider shown earlier on would have been 70 S early 80 S. my mom had the same one. just want to say thank you for sharing your adventures and I very much so enjoy them. may I ask are you native American and I ask with the utmost respect not trying to be nosey just curious if I may ask your accent and mechanical knowledge makes me wonder
With all the trash, steel, tin, it would be a major job to detect it properly (time consuming For sure) If the mine was 1873 instead of 1973 it would be worth a shot. Still would need a good sniper coil. Hoosier History Hunter.
I am only speculating. But I really doubt that Scott was REALLY an eye witness. But someway over a period of time, picked up the story. Maybe over too many beers. Then thinking if Jim and Tim were out of the way and gone, he could claim one of their gold claims. Or maybe even Jim's property. That property had some great free gold on it. Even I found several nuggets there. Jim recovered one over 30 ounces.I had met Warren. But didn't really know him. I had met Scott also. But, can't say I really knew him. When I met Scott, he was drywashing for gold on one of my claims in Arizona. I wasn't aware the HE was THE SCOTT that was the witness of the murder at the time or I would have brought it up in conversation.
Thank you for the info Bob, and you're probably right about that because nothing about waiting so long makes any sense. Did they ever discuss the Steve Wenta / Doug Fink shootout? I wonder if anyone ever did time for that. I have heard that was a great claim, too bad one of you guys didn't get the claim, looks like a big gold company scooped it up. I did notice other land in the area for sale, might be worth picking up for some nugget shooting. I might have to see if I can grab a small parcel of land out there.
The two cowards walked into the home and shot the two men as they were having coffee! Shot the family dog as well, stole the mining trestle they wanted and drove off laughing at the wife. The local hospital was in Reno !
My dad used to dry wash in Arizona in the late 70s and possibly 80s. I'm not sure where. He only took us panning, mostly in the narrows, since we were kids and girls. He told us a lot of stories, none as sinister as this, probably because we were girls. But, thank you, because your post brought back a lot of memories. My dad was diagnosed with ALS in 88 and died in 89
So Bob Trower did you ever email Kelli Martin from Chase Investigations to see what she wanted to talk to you about? I was just curious to know what she wanted because it had to be about this story. 🤔
endless beauty and wonder! Sad history that happened on those properties. Looks like someone was squatting there some recent new stuff there. Sad that place is just sitting there, gathering dust and rotting slowly. And the photo album and letter...breaks my heart to see people waste memories like that and leave it there.
Great story and video! @7:28 there is a pair of Levi's jeans. If they are from the 70's the could be valuable! If it's not to far, GO BACK and get them!! Do research. I, for a fact, know that people in Russia, China and Japan pay big money $800+ for a pair of vintage Levi's jeans or jackets, even damaged ones. I "flip" clothes online for extra money.
I think that this tragic little bit of history could actually be good enough to make a movie about, its funny that mining disputes or claim jumping can still occur in modern times like it did back int the late 1800's
I like movies that are based upon actual history myself.....great Exploration and documentation my friend, coming from a person born and raised from Southern Nevada.
Hell indian tribes still have fights over succession and clan rite too just happened a few years back out in California within the chuckchansi over a casino and problems with the feds make no mistake the west is still quite wild
I love all the work and details you put into your videos like this one. I really appreciate it. I enjoy these kind of videos like this and the back stories you add to them. It's very interesting to say the least. Keep up the great work and keep doing videos like this. I love them! I appreciate all the hard work , time and dedication you put into making all of your videos and as always first and foremost stay safe ..always put your safety before your videos. We need you guys safe so you can continue to make more of your awesome videos! Thank you keep up the great work! 🤗❤ P.S. I was gonna say that it looks like people have lived there more recently according to some of the things there and from the dates on letters and other items ,but this is still interesting to watch and know that all that took place there back in the 70's. Nice story guys! 😉👍❤
Not bullet holes - shotgun blasts - 3 of them....two in the side and one in the door. If you were paying close attention, when he opened the left door, there was a hole in a small can on the shelf in the door - and one, maybe two additional holes on the shelf retainer.
Cool to see the photo album with pictures taken inside the house. Holding up the photo at the angle where it was taken would have been a nice contrast to see what it was like then. Best was to see the hand drawing of the room.
there's no trash like '70's trash. I graduated high school in 73. I still have many rock n roll albums from that time, like dark side of the moon. and some deep purple stuff. a lot more. '70's trash.
Great storytelling... we think of "wild west" stories being from long ago, but new stories happen everyday. You often speak of mining in the areas you explore, I often assume it's gold, silver, or copper that is being mined, is that right? Or are other materials being extracted? I'm from East Kentucky coal mining country and have a family history of mineral mining, so I'm curious...
I believe its mostly silver but theres still the Comstock lode of gold pulling pulled out it was mostly used at first to help the union war efforts during the civil war, but I believe theres other kinds of mines like uranium and others around this state
Man I have been watching for a while each vid gets better and better your so good love your vids stay safe thanks for having us along and for the vids you should seriously consider going with a group of your subscribers or other people you know. Loved the story and to think if you were there at the time a big hi five from Pheonix, Arizona! I explore Arizona but not that much you've made me want to go around the USA and explore thanks for everything. Album notes drawings pictures all so sad. Imagine when those things were dropped or picked up or used. Seeing the pics of those men who've had a troubled past
I like your videos man, to me it seems to be the realist stuff cause you don't seem to be pretending and acting, thats important to me cause I love to learn new stuff especially bout history, don't let the bs of fake get to you man, stay real

Gold mining and murder go hand in hand.
Damn...
Money and murder always go hand in hand
It always makes me sad to see family photo albums just laying there like trash. Happy memories captured in time discarded :(
Very sad indeed
Roesch -4- Broward County Sheriff I live Broward I'm in Hollywood.

When the whole family is gone, the album doesn't mean a thing.
It was my 2x great uncle, Steve Wenta, who was murdered in this shootout. Interesting video.
What happened to the girls

Lorraine A what does gamey taste of meat mean
Faith Fitness The wildness of the meat. Like deer, elk, etc...

Japan. It was in an old ryokan. It started out like any of those horror movies, house of wax, the grudge. Happy couple on vacation. After that vacation in 2018, we still sleep with a night light on. Japanese movie themes are real.
@@ashsar2408 wow !
I'm really enjoying the crime and missing persons videos you are making. They are so much better than commercial television shows of the same genre.
The note was beautifully written! Bet that corrugated metal outhouse might have shielded from the wind but not much insulation from the cold desert nights!
Hello 539 productions

Thumbs-up Girl Thank you. :-)
Always look forward to the uploads! Keep it up!
10:16 look at that rainbow so peaceful so beautiful
It's hard to believe that this old, torn apart shack used to be a full fledged house, just like any other. It's really surreal.
I have been watching your videos for about six months now. I have subscribed, and I like every time I watch. Have you ever run into a living human being while you were going through any house.? Have you ever run into a dead person in any of the buildings you've gone through?
Liz Hampton oh gosh! I hope that you go back and watch them all! All of them will hold your interest make you want more!
Candy Santillo have u ever actually watched any of his videos and he's seen a living person or dead person?? 💫🌸

Very interesting! I love old places and there stories.
The screeching in the back reminds me of an old playground I used to go to in the old woods behind my house 🏡
Sweet explore, freaky story. Nice work as always! Thumbs up and added to favorites!
So I just came across this channel and I love it.(SUBSCRIBED).. I to rly enjoy exploring. Especially older places /locations and learning it's story. This place really does have a very violent history, I found that letter and the left behind photo album very sad too. The whole place had a very eerie vibe as it seemed to have been abandoned very suddenly.
I wasn't expecting there to be that much stuff in there either, I figured it would have been all gone or vandalized.
Neither did I, that was why I felt it had been abandoned suddenly as so much was left behind, especially the food in the fridge and freezer.
That was not the original families belongings, must be squatters. There was no fridge or dishwasher at the time.
Michele Graves Wait a second we had fridges and dishwashers in 1972.
the dale brothers old claim is in imlay canyon about one canyon over to the east. thanks for posting this video.
So Timothy Dale killed his brother Warren Dale when he was 47-ish years old and Warren dale was 55 years old.. 1973 to 2001 is 28 years apart so.. Wow so immature at such age and kills his brother..
The entire family was exactly like the mob. There is so much more to this story and it will soon be out.
I love your videos because there is literally NO clickbait at all. It's so amazing.
Because of that, when I put some money on my card, I'll be donating to the Patreon!
since the shooting this place has been sold a couple of times different owners. there won't be any of the original stuff from 73 left there
You know, you just can't make up stories stranger then that! What a great, twisted story to go along with this!!! Well done!
How did I get here when I was watching horse videos? 😂 Either way, I love it!
LOL Snowhite Heavens Thank you. :-)
you clicked on the video
@Snowhite Heavens, you was heaven sent.😊
Spirits wanted you to!
Lol I don't know how I ended up here either. I was watching videos on people falling from the grand canyon and somehow here I am
These places always seem creepy at first, then you find a forgotten photo album and suddenly, there's this soft, human element to it now, and it's a kind of touching and sad: memories left behind, abandoned with everything else.
*ALSO* Thanks for the true crime history! So interesting!
the fridge was the last man standing in the shoot out !!

I just seen this video not sure if you found out any information or not. But as far as I could find out was that in the shot out Timothy Dale and Doug Fink were injured. One of your best videos yet. Amazing job👍
Did you ever think of taking a metal detector with you to some of those old mine site ? You might find some buried old coins ?
With all the trash, steel, tin, it would be a major job to detect it properly (time consuming For sure) If the mine was 1873 instead of 1973 it would be worth a shot. Still would need a good sniper coil. Hoosier History Hunter.
Awesome loved getting the back story to the lives lived there. Love your videos. Much love from Texas.♥♥♥
I might have to see if I can grab a small parcel of land out there.
there is the story they say and then the real one...
He takes nothing but photographs and memories, and leaves nothing but footprints...
I got about 30 pair of old Levi 517 boot cuts with holes in the knees laying in the shed.
Now...this is something interesting and exploring worth..i must say❤👌👏
I think that this tragic little bit of history could actually be good enough to make a movie about, its funny that mining disputes or claim jumping can still occur in modern times like it did back int the late 1800's
So true! I guess that gold fever is for real. I agree, I think it would make for a true story movie. I always enjoy the true story movies. 🙂
We are making one

P.S. I was gonna say that it looks like people have lived there more recently according to some of the things there and from the dates on letters and other items ,but this is still interesting to watch and know that all that took place there back in the 70's. Nice story guys! 😉👍❤
Great job again and also the history you guys get keep up the good work
Anyone else see the bullet hole in the fridge
Wolfpack 23 yea .
Wolfpack 23 yes!
Wolfpack 23 when
Not bullet holes - shotgun blasts - 3 of them....two in the side and one in the door. If you were paying close attention, when he opened the left door, there was a hole in a small can on the shelf in the door - and one, maybe two additional holes on the shelf retainer.
i saw several bullet holes. probably just kids messing around.
The water tank in the outhouse was Richfield Oil Corporation pf Bakersfield, Ca. The company stopped trading in 1966, when it was taken over.
And my grandpa and uncles used to live in Bakersfield
Is it just me or at 3:44, it looks like a couple of shot gun blasts to the side of the refrigerator?
mice.
desert mice are mean.
there are also bullet holes through the shelf rail and through the can at 5:59
Cool to see the photo album with pictures taken inside the house. Holding up the photo at the angle where it was taken would have been a nice contrast to see what it was like then. Best was to see the hand drawing of the room.
Good idea Tony, I will have to remember that if I ever find something like that again.
there's no trash like '70's trash. I graduated high school in 73. I still have many rock n roll albums from that time, like dark side of the moon. and some deep purple stuff. a lot more. '70's trash.
One person's trash is another person's treasure...
Great video man. Was fun to watch
How do you find all these locations bro? Some cool findings in there!
Thank you bro. I will make a video one day on how I find these places. 🙂👍👍
Cool! :)
Great story wow cleaning out old subs on RUclips and have been watching your vids for hours now 5 am this is my favorite so far
I believe its mostly silver but theres still the Comstock lode of gold pulling pulled out it was mostly used at first to help the union war efforts during the civil war, but I believe theres other kinds of mines like uranium and others around this state
Being pulled out*
I'm watching this on Easter 2019. Sad to see the mom's sweet note with the cute little drawing 💔
I remember the Brasso polish can from the 70s bro
SMS kustoms
Still in existence. I have a can.
