Total pain to widen the bars if necessary, and the proper tool doesn't come included for that. Need a smaller bit. Super tough to slide the bars out to the right width. Also the bit of the included tool warps pretty quickly and can strip the bolt heads, so be careful not to make too many adjustments.
YES!! I was going to reply with this. I had to dig through my tool box to find a t25 torx tool to fit the screws for the width adjustment. Also, the loctite was so hard to overcome, I couldn't loosen them. I ended up having to put my torx tool in the screw, then using pliers to get the leverage to twist them... I had to do this for loosening and tightening. My torx screwdriver is now mangled because of this. And doing this on the garage floor scratched up the roof rails. The rear rail doesn't get long enough (barely, by a millimeter) to fit the distance across the rails, so there is a slight gap on one of the rail attachments and there is pre-load pulling the rails together. This roof rail design is pretty solid, but the loctite, the width adjustment, and the different size screws contributed to making a 5 minute job take over an hour. So unnecessarily frustrating. And I'll have to take them off once my roof box arrives in order to get everything adjusted for that.
Mine didn’t have instructions either. It didn’t seem to be quite wide enough so I looked two of the bottom screws with different size torx bit and made it slightly wider. Then the screws didn’t seem to go back in properly. Wonder if this was a mistake? Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the video, but the camera moves away from the subject at some critical moments. E.g. at 1:20 of the video, just as you are placing the crossbar on the side rail, the camera moves away and I can't see how exactly that attachment is made. I have an Ascent with the crossbars already installed. Even if I completely remove the screws on the top the brackets do not come loose. It's not clear to me in which direction they are supposed to move, so was hoping this video would show that.

ops i didn't pay any attention to the tork i just tighten til it felt tight. no instructions at all in my box. Also I didn't know they had a front and back.I did pay attention to the arrows pointing forward though
Thank you for posting this video. It was a big help as crossbars came with no instructions.
You're welcome!
The measurement for torque is Newton Meters. Thanks for posting this. Takes out the guesswork!
Well I can tell you right now Newton wasn't around and he won't be riding with me cuz I don't know him. So he can mind his own damn business
Thanks for sharing your time making this video I really appreciate it came in handy
Thanks bud needed this for my Ascent.
Awesome video!!! Sharing and saved in my "How To" playlist!

Thanks. Oh what fun it is to ride!
I really did not notice the arrow pointed toward the front, thank you. But I did notice 8Nm (5.90 ft-lb)
This car is sooo much fun to ride
Yes I just bought my car and is so fun to drive you right

Just what I needed, thanks for posting this. Mine didn't come with any instructions. Have you noticed a lot of extra wind noise?
Mark Lilley no noise at all
I neither have an instruction
I stayed for the twerking. Not what I expected.

Amazon $165 free shipping. But I got on Subaru online.
by any chance does the torque have a part number to it? i cannot seem to find mine, i may have to order one. thanks.
the big one with the tool provided is either t30 or t32 and the smaller one (to adjust the width) is a t25 torx.
1:38 what’s the red tab for?
It was a piece that came with the kit, it puts the exact torque Subaru recommends

Night Stringers hopefully the video helped a little
@@michaelaustin6906 it would have helped if I would have waited and watched videos to see how people install them so thank you for your video
Nice
What’s the max load it can hold?
Per Subaru website 165.5 lbs
I have a Subaru 2019 Accent Touring. Will this fit? And do you think I can place the Thule snowboard rack on top?
Trese Grey yeah it should I have the premium, same size
