Little do most know that Meiling was saving the world this whole episode. Fighting off shape shifting assassins sent in her dreams by a god of calamity who just happens to resemble a giant catfish.

This series needs to settle on a single arc for a little while like it did with EoSD. Jumping around from plot to plot like this is disorientating ... And Okuu sounds off... it doesn't sound like much emotion was put behind her voice. The animation was great as always though.
That's the point, Utsuho is supposed to be an idiot, she doesn't put emotion in her voice.

Lily: We kick things off with our first event, Snow-voidance, a true test of reflexes and quickness! Marisa has just made a really whiny comment about how there's too much snow. At some point during Reimu's response, Marisa is going to toss the contestant backwards over her shoulder. The contestant must make an elegant landing in the snow, then gracefully and fluidly get out of Marisa's way when she takes off. First contestant... Nazrin.
[Nazrin enters and walks over to Marisa, who casually picks her up by the collar.]
Lily: Contestant ready? Marisa ready? Reimu ready?
all: Ready!
Lily: Aaaaand... begin!
Reimu: This year's Spring is supposed to be... um... this year's Spring is supposed to be... nnnngg... this year's... Spring is... supposed to... be... dangit, what's the word I'm looking for? Funny? Interesting? Stupendous? Huh... I mean, I guess "green" works, but when is Spring ever _not_ green?
Nazrin: Uh, Marisa... you can toss me any time now...

Reimu: Y'know, when you really think about it, that's more like something Seija Kijin would say. After all, she's the one who loves everything that everyone else hates, and since everyone hates pointing out the ridiculously obvious, she'd definitely go for it.
Nazrin: Oh for crying out loud, you didn't even meet Sei...
[Marisa tosses Nazrin over her shoulder, who screams, tumbles awkwardly, and lands on her head, slowly flopping on her front. She groans and nurses her head as she rises painfully to her feet, then stares in horror for a split second before the tip of Marisa's broom slams into her chest at about a hundred miles an hour, sending her flying upside-down into the nearest tree.]
judge: Okay, that was definitely worse than Cirno. Heck, that was worse than Rumia, given how far your skirt's hiked up now. Zero points. Oh, and black, definitely _not_ your color.

touhou 12.3 has entered the chat
The actor tried, and she hit her lines, but she really could've used some direction. Acting for one role can be tough, but switching characters is doubly so. And the more roles, the more difficult it is to switch persona.
Cirno really needed more energy. And Okuu could've been more forceful. She struggled a little with Marisa, too. A pattern emerges. She has trouble with energetic girls. She had trouble just letting loose, which is what those genki girls required.
The actor did do a better job with the more reserved characters, but each character still did sort of bleed into each other.
A couple weeks more of straight up rehearsing probably could've improved the performance, overall. Rehearsing just to define each character, individually. A week for the lines, and two to four weeks of character building.
She does have potential, though, as an actor. Perhaps a theatre production or two would help her enhance her character building, and her voice work.
I think Vivian is just showing her limits her, and keeping in mind she did that in only one day (release date was 5/26 and she uploaded her video the next day). Her voice is way too soft to try more various and energetic characters. Seh indeed sound better in conjunction with other VAs, like she did with many of her other fandubs of various MMD dramas. Lily: It's time once again for Gensoyko's springiest contest, Better Than Cirno! Today, a brand new crop of ambitious achievers will take on a variety of challenges, each striving to be...
[She points to the crowd. Silence.]
Lily: See, Cirno claims to be the strongest. Therefore, if you want to prove that _you_ are the strongest, you have to be...
[She points to the crowd again. Silence. She nods and gestures a few times. More silence. She growls and stomps the stage.]

Lily: [awkward pause] All right, we'll work on that... ahem. There are a total of six events, which the contestants will take on in a predetermined order. Each performance will be meticulously evaluated by our judge, who will award points as she sees fit. For a particularly spectacular effort, she can award as many as ten. Oops, I mean _nine_, am I right? Ha ha ha...
[The judge gives no reaction whatsoever]
Lily: Yes, well...
[A fairy hands her a piece of paper]
Lily: Hold on, I got something here... "Dear Lily. This is the stupidest idea ever. Whoever came up with it was reaching like the Goliath Doll through one of Yukari's gaps. Probably that jerk with the state flag. Or is it a national flag? Whatever, one of those dumb flags. - Cirno"
[Lily looks nervously at the judge]
judge: [deep, raspy voice] I wouldn't read too much into it.
Lily: And that's good enough for me! Let's get this game started!

I feel like this series is getting worst with its input of awkward drama and major changing of the plot, some of the voice actresses can sound pretty far off the context as well, Okuu being casual at 6:38 like... At least it looks great xD First episode still seems the best so far though.
Looks great indeed, and it seems they're lately using that as an excuse not to write better. More and more MMD slideshows have deeper and closer to canon plots, and here they go with a childish argument involving Dai-chan, who is basically a fan-made character at this point. Truelly saddening, this could be so great.
It is a fandub so you won't expect much in the voice acting

Yeah, I'm with ya. It seems like they're putting less and less effort into the story-line and content. The episodes are getting shorter and shorter and also have less quality :( I'm ok with waiting as long as needed, but I just hope that they take their time into developing a less spastic fanime... but hey, what do I know? I can't even count to ⑨!

Lily: Daiyousei has just expressed doubt that the contestant can survive a confrontation with the Daidarabochi. The contestant must now convince Dai-chan of her strength, stamina, and mettle before she takes the contestant for a blowhard and flies off in disgust. [glances at Tenshi] Ready when you are. Go for it!
[Tenshi gives a thumbs up. She scrutinizes Daiyousei. She smiles. Daiyousei looks nervous. Tenshi gives a wide grin. Daiyousei turns and flees. A massive rock suddenly shoots out of the ground next to her, and chains instantly emerge from it to secure each of her limbs and wings. She's now completely helpless. Tenshi advances with a look on pure evil on her face.]
judge: Okay, that does it, you're disqualified.
Tenshi: Oh, come _on!_ [trudges off] ...never get to have any fun...
[Marisa hovering in midair a short distance from the front of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.]
Lily: The second event, Don't Get Burned By The Witch, is a grueling gauntlet of three highly demanding tasks. First the contestant must harm Marisa with the Icicle Fall spell card, which, of course, has a notoriously huge safe area directly in front of the attacker. Then Marisa will attempt to fly past her, and she must prevent this _and_ maintain her dignity. Finally, she must enter the Scarlet Devil Mansion via window without having the shutter slammed in her face. First up, Kogasa Tatara.
[Kogasa flies in, grinning and holding up the spell card.]
Lily: Go for it!
Kogasa: Feel the bitter chill of my ultimate attack! Icicllllleee...
[Marisa inches forward. Kogasa inches backward.]
Kogasa: Uh...
[Marisa advances again; Kogasa retreats again.]
Kogasa: Hey, cut that out.
[Marisa advances. Kogasa begins scrambling.]
Kogasa: Aiieeee! Get away from me!
[Marisa advances. Kogasa finally has enough and flees over the horizon screaming.]
judge: That is a zero.
Lily: In more ways than one. All right, let's see if Nazrin has any better luck this time!
[Nazrin gets into position and holds the card in front of her. She glares at Marisa. Marisa glares back. Pause. Anticipation. Marisa grows antsy. Nazrin still does nothing. Marisa is growing visibly agitated. Nazrin still does nothing.]
Lily: What could she be trying to pull?
[Still nothing... and then...]
Nazrin: ICICLLLLLE FAAAAURRKK!!
[Marisa charges forward and slams right into Nazrin's chest, then speeds onward toward the SDM. Marisa sees Nazrin and comes to an abrupt halt, sending her flying into the wall.]
Lily: A successful defense, but at a heavy price! Now comes the final task.
[Marisa enters a window. Nazrin, in considerable pain, floats over to the windows; three are open. She scrutinizes them nervously.]
Lily: Which will she choose?
[With a moment of inspiration, Nazrin pulls out her divining rods. After a few seconds, she heads confidently toward the left window. As she passes through, the middle and right shutters slam shut, while the left remains open. She flies through...and instantly rematerializes in front of the right shutter, which reopens and slams in her face, sending her tumbling to the ground.]
Lily: Oooooh! A sound strategy, but the mansion can be just plain _mean_ sometimes!
judge: A commendable effort nonetheless. Two points. Not that they'll do her much good, considering what's about to happen to her.
[A beaten, broken, bloodied Nazrin lies on the ground between Rin Kaenbyou and Chen. They look at her.]
Chen: C'mon, we'll get you help. [picks her up, climbs in the wagon, and holds her tight]
Rin: Good goddess, I just feel _sorry_ for her now.

ep 1: dragged to reimu by Marisa, thrown into the snow face first, gets stuck in a tree and falls after trying to get out of Marisa's way while reimu watches.
red mist eps: gets ass kicked by Marisa while acting like she's winning.
takes a lot of coincidental hits to the face from falls, iron doors and reimu.
ep 7: gets ass kicked (again) by sun youkai WHILE melting (being an ice fairy) in a very hot room.
does this need to be said again?

Lily: Third event, Triumph Orb Perish!
[The front door of the SDM. Byakuren Hijiri has a firm grip on the handle.]
Lily: In twenty seconds, the door will get blasted off its hinges by a Hakurei Ultra Cheap Orb. The contestant must open the door before that happens, allow the orb to fly harmlessly past, then enter the mansion. Ready? And, go!
[Byakuren pulls. Nothing happens. She pulls harder. Still nothing. Five seconds have gone by. She grunts and strains and struggles, to no avail.]
Lily: The clock is ticking! Can she do it? Is there enough strength in her to move the immovable?
[Fourteen seconds. Fifteen. She's looking desperate. Sixteen. Seventeen. Eighteen. Finally, with one final, massive effort... she tears the door clean off its hinges.]
Byakuren: What the...
[The HUCO screams out the doorway, slams into her, bounces her against the ground a few times, and drags her several hundred feet.]
judge: ... One point.
[Lily goes over to Byakuren and points the microphone at her face.]
Lily: Hey, uh, you all right?
Byakuren: I don't know... who yet... but someone... is going to die... for this...
[Cut to an upper level of the SDM where Remilia and Sakuya are watching.]
Remilia: I don't remember giving anyone permission to use my mansion for this ludicrous contest.
Sakuya: Lily said something about "eminent domain". Your guess is as good as mine.
