My BB is a 30mm but u can order adapters to fit in 24mm cranksets so just fyi if u are out there reading this and u happen to need to fit a 24mm ckranset into a smaller or bigger bottom bracket peace
Just received my 105 crankset today 50/34- 170mm crank length weights bang on 705 grams on my scales too very light compared to the older model at 734 grams and it is much stiffer too.
That would surprise me if true. I have a lot of experience with the previous gen 5800 105, and 6800 ultegra. They both seemed to have the same service life, so I doubt the new generation would be any different. Only time will tell of course
Looks like the new 105 will be susceptible to the same issues with DuraAce. That seam eventually allows moisture inside, Corrosion begins, and then the bonding starts to fail.
Just Purchased a group with these 105's yesterday. Can't wait to get on them.
Also now available in a 160mm crank length for shorter legs -a first for any of the mainstream component manufacturers.
Yes in deed! What a great thing.
@@Jamesthebikeguy can we remove the outer big chain ring on this ? Seems like cant
@@Jamesthebikeguy I Wana convert to 1 chainring setup and place a replace with narrow wide chainring

They also make full conversion BB from brands such as Wheels MFG.

What's the weight of the Left arm only? Thanks!
Hi! Just a question, what would be the compatible crank bolt for this crankset?
Just received my 105 crankset today 50/34- 170mm crank length weights bang on 705 grams on my scales too very light compared to the older model at 734 grams and it is much stiffer too.
Nice, enjoy the new crank!
705g means weight of both side?
(drive and non-drive side)
5800 is stronger than 7000, that’s why it’s heavier
Any durability test? Heard the 105 has poorer durability than r8000

So 5800 and r7000 are both the 105 shimano series cool
nice vid keep goinh
You got it, thanks for the encouragement.
Does the BBR60 bottom bracket 68/70 work with the shimano 105 crankset????
Yes, according to Shimano's website.
Hi, Can I swap the chain ring with R8000 or 9001 to reduce the weight?
Yes, but that isn't where most of the weight is.

Crank Arm Lengths? thx
SHIMANO 105 R7000 Series ...Crank Arm Length, 160, 165, 170, 172.5, 175
@@Jamesthebikeguy Crank arm length in your video?
165mm
Got one and my ultegra chainring won’t fit.
Altegra chainrings are not for 105 cranks
Is the 34t is removable?
Yeah
What's a "plastic style" insert?
The backside of this chainring
@@Jamesthebikeguy I thought they just hollowed out the metal, how's that gonna add rigidity 😅
Scraped my knife on it and it clearly isn't plastic...
@@cyclehans yup doesn't appear to be plastic to me either
Nice👍
Indeed!
172.5 mm length already weigh 774 g
My 50-34 175mm weight 737g
So is this glued like Dura Ace and Ultegra? I’m going to sell my DA and replace with this if so. Check out thanksshimano on insta. It’s got me spooked
Hmm not sure if it's constructed the same way
You said it has a seam
