    Just got accepted into Mid Westerns masters & CA northern states post bac, and 3 interviews + two more responses from UC Davis and CDU. Applied as a non traditional with a 3.1 AMCAS gpa due to a poor early academic performance and a 500 MCAT. I’m not in medicine school but getting into one of these programs is a huge jump towards getting in. Don’t give up, trust me. Keep working hard and persevere even when things don’t go as you’d like or planned. Keep going.

    I'm a current ARCOM SMP student and I was accepted into the medical school to start this July, I came here for the $5,000 tuition. It is definitely not easy, you take the anatomy course with the medical students, same tests etc, so you have to put in the work. I had to do an SMP because my GPA was around 3.0 since I got my PharmD and didn't see going to school later and I fell into the "C's get degrees" attitude. My MCAT was also not stellar, I had a 499. I'd say SMP's are good if you want to get a good taste of the rigor of medical school, its like "Medical School Light".

      Just one question, were lectures proportional to the exams or were exams Super different from lecture material/texbooks and home works? I'm worried because 2/3 of our genetics class is failing because her material explains the very basic concepts but on her exam she asks very complex questions that we are definitely not prepared for

    • @ERdoctorMike
      @ERdoctorMike  3 года назад +1

      SMPs are very different than undergrad. The exams will be difficult but everything comes from the lecture slides. Generally you don’t have to do any additional textbook reading.

    Are any of these programs available online? I'm currently in the military on orders and have taken the MCAT twice and my highest score was a 491 with a GPA of about 3.2 (science was like 2.97). Trying to balance the military and studying for the MCAT has felt almost impossible since I'm currently on an operation for the past two years and am panicking as I'm completing my secondary applications. I don't think I can just leave the operation to go to school so I'm hoping that one of these programs is online. Do you have any recommendations?

    How do I calculate my Science GPA

    • @ERdoctorMike
      @ERdoctorMike  3 года назад

      It’s a little difficult to go on your own so I’d suggest looking up a calculator online. Each class is worth a different amount of credits which is why it’s a little difficult to do. But it’s all science and math classes.

      @@ERdoctorMike Thank you for your quick response! So do I add classes I repeated into the science gpa or do I use the highest grade ou of the classes I did. for example: If I took gen chem twice and got a D the first time and a B the second time, should I add Both of the attempts into the science GPA, or should I just add the Gen chem course I got a B in?

    • @ERdoctorMike
      @ERdoctorMike  3 года назад

      Honestly I can give you my opinion but I really don’t know much about it at this point. I just think step 2 will play a bigger role now from what I’ve heard. It’s really not something I’m worried about because most programs don’t even know what they are going to do to evaluate students now.
