- A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine has found that psychedelic mushrooms could be used to help treat depression symptoms. Dr. Scott Aaronson, one of the study's authors, and the chief science officer at the Institute for Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics at Sheppard Pratt, joined Weijia Jiang to discuss the results.

The most damaging drugs, fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine all are considered safe for use and prescriptible by doctors. The drugs I know of on Schedule I that are not prescriptible but are safe, are cannabis (why single out one cannabinoid of over a hundred?) mushrooms and LSD.

Centuries? For crying out loud, plants and herbs like cannabis and mushrooms have been used by humans for thousands and thousands and thousands of years. They are only made illegal for a few reasons…. To control certain groups and to protect religions that don’t want you seeing god outside of the church.

We should always have unbiased peer review for everything, but that's not the real issue. This issue is a lot of the studies have been swept under the rug for the past thirty years, and restrictions set by the DEA has heavily slowed things down. Reality is this study isn't anything remotely new or groundbreaking, It just reinforces previous ones. Main reason they let up on psilocybin is its really impossible for them enforce restrictions. Spores are legal, and small scale grows are near impossible to catch, some kid could literally be growing the stuff under his bed in a monotub. Not to mention many strains just naturally grow in the wild all over the place in the states. there are only a few that have been selectively bred that don't naturally thrive in the wild (such as PE's)

As a "treatment resistant" person, 🍄 and dmt are the best short term antidepressant for me (I also had good results with ketamine.) Instead of taking these antidepressants you should be microdosing psilocybin. I wasn't in the study but I've taken mushrooms a handful of times and it works. Trust me it works brilliantly
Pharmaceutical companies are in full-panic mode. If psychedelics are determined to be very effective treatment those companies are looking at billions of lost revenue. I doubt any tears will be shed- the drug industry has made a fortune selling treatments that, at best protect against extreme symptoms of depression but provide zero long-term resolution.

Well I've been tripping for couple of years now,once had a bad trip but that's a very long time ago though

this study actually talks the reverse of a daily dose. Its more that if you take it a few times and never again you have altered the brain pathways in a way that can dramatically aid against depressive states.
So can a sativa marijuana but the mushrooms help a person reset and become more motivated.

The rumor is that someone who had a minor stroke that was left with brain fog and difficulty completing sentences was able to completely get rid of that neurological symptom with a very low dose , something like 1/8 of a normal full dose of LSD.
The stroke was due to severe covid 19 infection and the low dose permanently got rid of the brain fog the headaches and the problem with stopping mid sentences because the words were not there much like John Fetterman.

I've never done a drug in my life other than alcohol and pot and tried mushrooms for the first time this year (I'm 53). I did 3.5 grams and I can say from personal experience it was certainly very interesting and not scary at all but I don't really see how it would do anything to treat depression. I felt really good while it lasted and it was pretty long (several hours) and patterns on a bed spread and painting turned liquid and shifted and moved when I looked at them but those were the only effects I had. I didn't hallucinate. Maybe I need to try them a few more times.

It is vital that you consume them on a mostly empty stomach and enjoy something healthy after your trip or even during. It is completely normal to have visuals and normal to not have them at all. I am always tired and sometimes feel like I am walking on quicksand when I am doing chores I don't really want to do.

Until we all have (legal) access to medicinal mushrooms, look into (Bach) Flower Essences, they truly work. But also you might want to look into your iron levels or Vitamin B’s, especially B1…if you’re lacking in any of those it can cause fatigue and yes even depression.
Just be careful with the iron, best to eat more foods with it than supplement unless advised by a Dr. But B’s simply go out our pee 😊
Not trying to scare you, but, you should really get a full physical from your Dr., or find a good one, if you don't have one already! I have a type of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, it's a slow growing type, not diagnosed until it was stage 4 & is now in my bone marrow, it's only completely curable w/ a bone marrow transplant, which is a last resort in my case, not sure if it's my age, or they just don't want to pay for it? The Onocologist told me they can manage the cancer w/ chemo & other drugs, but, as far as totally curing it, not happening! My symptoms were slow coming on & prob. why they didn't catch it sooner, plus I don't have the greatest insurance, which doesn't help either, whether the Dr's wna admit it or not! At the end of 2009, I had Mononucleosis & on my test, it sd, it was not the 1st time I've had it, which is very rare, most people build up an immunity to it & never get it again! This should've indicated to my Dr. then, something was wrong w/ my immune system & further, more detailed tests should've been run then, but NOPE, most likely due to the fact I'm on Medicare & Medicaid.. no more test for me! They may have caught it when it was just in the lymph nodes of my stomach? One of the main symptoms, that started first, was the most debilitating case of fatigue, I'd ever experienced, just getting up to take a shower, was a huge task & no amount of sleep seemed to help!
So, just to be safe, have a checkup, get some blood work done, if your lymphocytes are high or you're anemic, then something might be off? You're right, it could also be depression, which will also make you tired, but, feeling like you're in quicksand, sounds all to familiar to me & I don't think boredom makes you feel that way? I do suffer with depression, esp. now, due to the fact I have cancer, not able to work even part time anymore, being isolated from this pandemic hasn't helped either & being broke af, really makes things worse!That's enough to make anyone depressed! I do hope you feel better & possibly find out what's going on, it may just be a vitamin deficiency?
