    my parents install this every night by my door to "keep me in the house" (although I've never left at night and I'm an adult, college student living at home). upon watching your video I see that there is simply an on/off switch on the back, so thanks man

      .... if it was outside your bedroom door all you would need is a ruler or hanger to push it back away from your door.... then a string or a wire hanger in a set position to pull it back as you close the door & put it back in place...
      Same would go for people breaking in, I mean if they can see under the door they’ll be able to spot it & push it back.

    I started using one of these for "hotel room security" several years ago after my aunt and uncle were assaulted in their hotel room. I feel much safer knowing that I'll get an alarm if someone tries to break in while I'm asleep. And -- yes -- it's loud enough to wake the dead. :)

    Great alert system and a deterent. Most people entering that hears they have alerted people , would close the door and run . nice little device. thanks for sharing.

    I used a similar door stop/alarm when working in North Africa. The "harmless" hotel room invasion remained non-confrontational, as long as one wasn't there when it happened. Those room invaders usually targeted businessmen, but working crazy hours, I was often in my room when I shouldn't have been. Great investment, and nice to have!
    Thanks for sharing

    These are really good ideas I live in an apartment, and I've heard story's of people breaking into houses, like crazy people with power drills and no one knows how long they been standing there. It's super easy to bump key a house and pick locks cuz I can do it super easy. So I prepare for this and these would be an added layer of protection. I study and practice martial combat and I'm armed to the teeth for the eventuality of a home invasion and I hope to god it never comes down to me having to take someone's life but I have people in my house I've sworn to protect and I'm bound by word to do so. I couldn't imagine being that guy that had to watch his woman get rapped beaten and kill in front of him and did nothing... Thanks for the post Canadian prepper.

      Barefoot bandit No problem, for how cheap it is it really could make all the difference... will it stop a committed criminal? No. But it would at least make it a fair fight!

    This is great for travel safety. If you want to help keep your family safe while at hotels, set this little alarm at the front door before you go to bed. If someone breaks in, at least you'll know before he's at the end of your bed, and there's a good chance he'll run. AND the neighbours will also report a noise complaint sending security and police your way. 5/5 for me. And as another plus, my apartment has an awkward door position making attaching a magnet alarm a little difficult. This can entirely make up for it.

    Ha! I've had a few of these now for about 6 months and they work great. Sure, they won't completely hold the door, but the noise will usually scare an intruder, confuse them and buy you time like you stated. Thanks for the video.

    You can lay them under mats at patio doors so when they step on the mat it activates, if it doesn't work place a thin piece of hard plastic, metal, wood about 6 inches square on top of alarm following the downward angle, this gives its a larger trigger area to activate alarm, or just use a blanket folded up as a make shift mat and leave a pair of shoes on the other side so the naturally place first foot entering door on the side of mat with alarm.
    Peace and Blessings

    this is better for front doors than the sensor IMO because it also stops the door from opening. with the sensor they can still walk in or open it enough to take the sensor down and damage it

    The first thing I thought when I saw this was- if they are at the door then I have screwed up, it's a late warning system. But, that doesn't mean you can't apply it else ways.
    Item- This is exactly the sort of thing I would wedge into a door of a building I was in but unfamiliar with. such as during urban exploration etc. It's the kind of thing I would take with me when i'm scavenging floor to floor and wanted a heads up that I could abandon and deploy quickly. Home use? Your home should have better systems in place. But for portable field stuff you could make good use of it away from home.

    • @CanadianPrepper
      @CanadianPrepper  8 лет назад

      +S3CR3TL3V3LZ I agree, it would be great to have in an urban BOB if you had to make pit stops while trying to evade a city or scavenge...

      I swear by fuse wire as the most underestimate item for city work. There is so much you can do with it urban or rural environments. Basic torch repair, Snares, securing rope from fraying, jamming hinges, even picking locks. I know one guy who repaired his glasses frame using it on an extended trip, cigar lighter and patience were enough. Another thing I've seen fuse wire used for is quick bag repair and for closing broken zippers. I can't imagine it would go astray as a makeshift cleaning system for older rifles either. Also a good way of testing battery potency/charge. There's also a guide out there on using it to weave a fuse wire net for fishing crabs/yabbi. It's duct tapes cousin.

    Seems like a handy item to include in your suitcase for travel. Does it have a chime mode or just alarm?

    • @TheMountainRN
      @TheMountainRN 9 лет назад

      Look like you could use it for other alarm as well. For example if someone cross a path it could pull in in a tree an trigger it if correctly position. Could be use a stun grenade as throwing it would squeeze the alarm 8)

      TheUrbanPrepper It only has the sound heard in the video but has 3 different sensitivity settings. Something I forgot to explain in the video, there are a lot of different types of these door stop alarms on the market, so there may be one with that option.

      +missy sparkles Asides the product shown here or keychain alarm systems, pepper spray (or anything allowed through customs_ I would say, carry very little of value, be the grayman or "woman"... ditch the fancy gear for what you need. Situational awareness, remember as a tourist you stand out and you stand out. The goal is to blend in and be not the subject of a scene. The best way to avoid being a victim is to avoid situations that you would be one in. Good luck!
