Most excellent video for these little cooler compressors, still very valid information. Thanks for putting this video up. Works on Whirlpool 8LIECH... coolers as well !!!
Refrigerator Compressor Overload and PTC Start Relay (# 4387913) will fit a lot of items...it looks like it will fit my GE water dispenser GXCF05D. 6750C-0005P is the correct part number for the overload protector, which may be all you need to change, it sounds like that's a common thing to blow. But since it's such a hassle I think I'll order the overload & relay kit and change both at the same time.
Also: OLK7913, replaces 4387913, 7020935, 4387766, 4387836, 283ULBYY-53, 819099, 2154759, PS371538 and AP3108669. Designed to fit specific Whirlpool manufactured Refrigerator Models including Kitchenaid, Roper, estate and Kenmore. For Frigidaire,For GE,For KitchenAid,For LG,For Magic Chef,For Whirlpool. Some say 1/4 hp, some say 1/3 hp. I ordered a Supco one from Ebay, it didn't specify the hp, crossing my fingers.
The most common replacement compressor overload protector part # is 6750C-0005P. Or you can just type overload protector and it's the first thing that comes up on Amazon. The brand shouldn't matter, just make sure your overload protector looks the same. There is a round style of protector that would need a different part.
This looks just like my model GXCF05D but mine only has 1 power switch. All the pics I see online all show 2 switches. Does that mean I have to have my hot water turned on all the time to have cold water?
I have an oasis plumbed cooler and can't get anyone to help me with it locally. My compressor runs but doesn't cool. Is there a way to test if this is what i need? Or... If the sealed system had a leak, would the compressor even run?
It appears the OP is not going to answer but hope someone else does...Is this a fix for the cold *only* if compressor does not come on? My compressor comes on and produces heat and am unclear on whether this is a fix for my set of circumstances.
4 years late I guess. If you can determine your compress is running (which on these units are pretty loud) that means this fixing isn't your issue. I have issue hot water is fine, cold water is not that cold like it used to be and the compressor will stay on 24/7 unless I switch off the cold. I assume the compressor is at fault and trying to find a decent OEM for a 20 year old machine is going to be difficult, costly and time consuming. You would need to pull vaccum on whole system, and recharge with refrigerant which if your paying somebody to do it is probably atleast $50-$100 in labor. Factor in the unknown OEM compressor if it's even obtainable
@jmabs5096 , I believe I simply moved on and got a working unit. I was attempting to fix but did not have enough knowledge to do so. Did not cost me anything, so no worries!
Anybody have a part number for this? I have a GE Water Dispenser model GXCF05D. The heater part works great. The cooling part of it shows no signs of life. Can anyone point me to the right part number? GE's parts diagram for this model doesn't show any internal/electronic parts. Anyone?
Hello, I have the same exact water dispenser and my hot water stopped working. Does anyone know how I could troubleshoot this? Any help is greatly appreciated
Didn't work for a Brio hot and cold water cooler, parts fit just hear clicking and no compressor...which feels warm but doesn't come on and only two years old.
My cold went out, my hot water still works. watching your video I will change my overload and relay switch. I have a GE water dispenser model numberGXCF05D My other issue is that there was condensation built up inside the the cabinet and water all over the floor. can anyone tell me why that happened. My cooler has worked fine all these years. Is it time for a new one or is it a simple fix? Thank you in advance
looks like exactly what I need - can't find GE water dispenser replacement part listing on amazon for starter switch and overload relay kit- suggestions???
They say there are no parts available for the sealed section...they would rather you spend $$$ on a service tech or buy a new one than you spend $20-40 and fix yourself. But as he says in the video they are a common part used in many refrigerators, freezers and water dispensers.
I hate it when people up stuff and never reply to anyone.Like the rest, what is the part number for that part? No like because people have been asking for over a year and no reply. Not cool man.
