    As promised here is an update. Based on your review, I got the 2013 K2 VO2 S100 Boa and wow, they are no doubt the most beautifully designed skates compared to the previous 7 pairs I owned, 5 of which were K2's. That mono frame reminds me of those sexy bikes with single-side swing arms like the MV Agusta F4. The frame looks rock solid because the metal is double the thickness and it looks like those extra nuts you mentioned in the review will do the job of preventing wheels from breaking off. I have not skated in years so I need to build up my muscles first before going all the way in terms of top speed but my first impression is that they are very comfortable and fast indeed. Time will tell how fast because I was wrong about the weight difference, the V02''s are heavier. My 2012 K2 Radical Pro Boa with non-stock wheels (2x110mm+2x100mm) weighed 1453g/51oz(L) and 1554g/55oz(R) while the 2013 K2 VO2 S100 Boa with stock wheels (4x100mm) weigh in much heavier at 1679g/59oz(L) and 1844g/65oz(R). Despite the slightly smaller wheel setup, that translates into a total weight difference of 516g or 18oz for the pair, a not to be neglected difference of 17%. They are also bulkier because the Radical Pro's easily fit into my backpack with space to spare while the V02's make for a very tight fit. So it remains to be seen how much this extra weight will affect speed performance. Of course the Radical Pro's had a lot of carbon fiber components, so I am comparing apples with oranges here. One of the problems with them was that the cuffs were prone to cracking due to crashing. I broke cuffs on three occasions. So I will not have to worry about that with the V02's. Moreover, these V02's look and feel so good that I do not mind a minor compromise on speed, if that is even going to be the case. For now, I am definitely back on a roll!

    Thank you for these reviews! I've skated K2 Alexis BOAs for a few years. They're crazy fast too...5 years ago I was flying down a hill, a nail lodge in my wheel. I flew. Shattered the heck out of my wrist, bolts, screws, scared to skate for a couple years. I am back at it and never skimp on wrist guards now. I'm looking to upgrade, pass my skates on to my daughter. The one sided frame is a cool concept but it’s not functional or safe. Luckily K2 let me exchange them and apply my credit towards the MOD 110s! Great review. Just bought the 90mm version (k2 Vo2 S 90 BOA) from Inline Warehouse for $287 including tax. According to the website it’s the “2022-2023” model. So it’s not the new 2024 model which sells for 319 on k2’s website but I doubt there is much of a difference from year to year like that. @@TheLastHonestInfluencer That's good to know. I'll probably give it another shot this summer. I'd be happy just feeling confident on them with turning / stopping. My neighborhood has a lot of hills so it got terrifying suicide diving down hill. No big deal, whenever to you want talk just let me know. They got a crazy qvc sale going now (again I get no commission or paid to say that), but as one commenter stated, makes you wonder what the cost is on these when you consider the range of prices. You could easily make through the videos, it's all about just adjusting to make it easier / harder for you. Depending on if someones got a rickety cheap model or expensive one, feel like regardless some fine tuning may be in order to make it work. Big reason I even tried these out again was because I could't afford an expensive cable machine for my home. The GR8FLEX isn't bad either IMO. I gave it to my nephew in high school and he's been a big fan of it.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Месяц назад +1

      Good questions!! The lightning 110 looks sweet, but I have no idea who would use those or why. Anyone who skates for fitness uses soft boots because they are so much more comfortable and way cooler (actually cooler as in cool feet). Hard boots are for trick skaters who need the extreme support so they don’t snap their ankles doing jumps, but 90% of those guys would never skate 110mm wheels because they would be way less agile. 80mm are the biggest wheels I’ve seen trick skaters use. Maybe there is some new urban thing where guys are skating top speed jumping off stuff in a straight line, seems like a good way to break yourself. I’m too old for that ha ha. Hope that helps

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Год назад +1

      Thank you Craig. For cross training I would use a 4 wheel skate. For the commute it depends are you on nice paths or will you be traversing urban areas where lots of fast turns, stops and bumps will be on your route?
      Whenever I have to commute in the city I always use me 3WD skates. The 4 wheels are just way slower to respond to turning and to make it worse they are ridiculously fast in a straight line. Not to say you can’t get ripping on the 3WD either tho.
      Hope that helps! 3WD will work better for cross training in a pinch than 4WD would commuting. I go with 3 based on your needs.

    I have ordered these skates and I have found some issues. I wanted to know if you have the same issue and if that issue is going away when skating or not.
    All the 3 skates have same issues (different sizes). I give the rollers a push with my hand and watch how long the wheels turn. Some rollers turn for a normal length of time, the others stop after 3-4 turns. If I loosen the fastening screw, they turn for a normal length of time. Do you know this phenomenon and do you know if it is normal or if all of my models have a problem?
    Many thanks in advance for your feedback :-) Reto from Switzerland (I am an experienced Skater, all the wheels of my old Skates are turning better than the K2 V02 S100 BOA

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  5 месяцев назад

      That is such a frustrating phenomenon. I don’t have that problem with the VO2 but my macroblade 1003WD do that every time I rotate the wheels. So you loosen the screws…but then will they hold!?
      So, what other people say on RUclips is that it doesn’t matter, and that when you skate with your weight on them you won’t notice. But I call BS, because obviously there is some resistance there and a reason it’s happening.
      Further investigation led me to information that this happens because of manufacturing, the tolerances are never perfect on the bearings as these aren’t high precision. So I guess there’s no way to eliminate it and we just live with it.
      Apparently the more expensive your skates and bearings, the less your wheels will do this. That’s why a $1000 pair is so much faster.

Also how do your side ankles feel does it give any pain or pressure since I do almost 8 miles a day? I just tried out the new Twister 110 from Rollerblade in Size 12 and those were so painful with the plastic hitting my side ankle bones no matter how loose I tried to make the strapping that I had to get rid of them and no longer be buying any boot with a hard shell.

      fair question with k2!! So in this new 2023 model I found the size 12 actually fits absolutely perfectly which is shocking because my 2020 K2 V02's the size 12.5 was too small...and the 2021 MOD110 size 12.5 was HUGE, so big I cant skate in them without 3 insoles and 2 pair of socks...boy is that a fun way to use your $500 skates...

    Excellent review!!! Can the one sided frame handle the pressure from the "double push" technique? Also is the overall benefit of the one sided frame a "wash" since the benefit of the weight on one side of the push is more or less offset by the disadvantage of the weight on the other side of the push?

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  8 месяцев назад +1

      Great questions! I can only offer you an anecdotal answer based on my experience skating with them so take this for what it is.
      This mono-frame handles the pressure from double push no problem. When you double push on the mono frame it feels like the power gets transferred better, almost feels like a spring effect, like you transfer more energy with your stride. Keep in mind this feeling is very subtle but perhaps this is part of the reason why these skates are and feel so fast! Only problem is the wheels may or may not break off...

The stock K2 wheels on the old Radical Pro's were nothing to write home about so I changed these after a while. So am curious to see how these stock wheels will work out. When you wrote you only got 1/8 of the distance compared to others did you mean you only used them 1/8 the distance you did on the others because you only started to use them recently? It's not that they are gone after 1/8 the of the distance, right? I hope not ;-)!

      @@victorianoescobar6485 you’ve got it exactly right! I just meant I haven’t skated on them very long so that may be why the wheel hasn’t fallen off yet 🤣
      I am very happy to report that K2 stock wheels and bearings on the VO2 are the best I have used on any of the skates I have bought in the last five years. I was getting reports from people saying they saw the VO2for sale for $150… for that price I would’ve bought them, and just robbed the wheels and bearings off them because they last forever!

    What is your foot size with this skate size? I ask because if my foot size is 28 cm, should I choose skates at least 1 cm larger? That's why I'm asking if it's better to have the skates tighter or looser. Thank you !

      Fair question with K2! In this specific skate I found them to be exactly true to US shoe size (for once). I would not get 1cm larger skates personally, in this model.
      K2’s used to fit me tight and I bought a $600 pair of MOD 110s and I bought them 1 cm larger because I was thinking all K2’s are tight but then they turned out to be clown skates on me and they’re terrible.

    after watching all your videos on the k2 vo2 S100 and your talk on wheels, I pulled the trigger on the vo2s100 2019 model just the other day. It was on sale for approx. 120 USD brand new, so I figured at the very worst, I could use the k2 wheels on my Powerslide Doop Sunrise 100. Well sir, you are absolutely right. These things are a blast. After using the BOA it's hard to tinker around with laces, even though it's literally takes 3-4 extra minutes. The speed is amazing compared to any of my other skates , FR SL Spin and my FR AP granted the ones mentioned are street skates. (obviously the Doops are not even a contender) Thanks for recommending the K2s, much appreciated just hope my axle doesn't rip off......

      I agree 100% with you, and I’m relieved to hear you found the skates and feel of them to be exactly as stated!
      I’m up here in Canada wishing I could buy a pair that don’t even fit me for that price…
      Yes, that’s the one thing though…as long as the wheels don’t snap off we should be alright 😅
      Thanks again for taking the time!!!

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Год назад

      Great question! In my opinion: ABSOLUTELY NOT!
      why? They are WAY too fast and unforgiving to learn on. These are sketchy even for experienced skaters. I've had many many close calls on these skates. They should come with a warning. The flip side is if you love speed they are a blast.
      Hope that helps! If you're just starting out I would highly recommend 80mm wheels for your first season. I still skate my macroblade 80's on days where I just need an easy recovery skate and they are great. You can still go plenty fast on them as well.

    I bought my first skates in 2020. K2 VO2 s90. I skated the shit out of those. Must have like 6k atleast on them. I loved them to death. Never had any problem with blisters, nothing. Super comfy. I did 30-50km trips 5-7 times a week. Yes. I really went crazy with in-line skating.
    But everything comes to an end.
    I made the jump to 100mm today. These exact skates.. they’re so fast.😱
    I definitely noticed a big difference in all around handling. The difference was much more than I expected. Still I think I ll get used to them. Gonna head out in the morning, do my first 30km with them, give them a proper test.🫡

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Год назад +1

      Damn! Sorry to hear that, super disappointing.
      Sometimes just slightly backing off the screw holding the wheel on totally fixes this…although it’s way less of an issue on a mono frame so that’s concerning. If the screws are too tight it can pinch the wheel and slow down spin. Obviously the screw must be ‘tight’ tho. You kind of get a feel for it after a few hundred rotations. A mini in-line torque wrench would be sweet.
      Otherwise it’s definitely a bearing issue and in that case I’d return them 100%. Reason being, these are super expensive high end skates (at least for K2) and they ought to work without issue brand new and be checked for quality before they’re shipped.
      That’s just my opinion, others may have better advice but I hope that helps!

      @@makkani8388 one more thing bro, ‘loosen the screw’ is damn vague if they’re your first pair. Take your Allen key and barely even back it off like 1/32nd of a turn. When someone puts them on WAY too tight it’ll almost make a cracking or popping sound. This could also be the locktite thread glue.
      Either way, you want to make sure all the screws are snug but not over tight. I really need to make a video on this I’m realizing.
      It’s a skill you’ll need very soon anyways after your first wheel rotation (which you will want to do frequently). Hope that makes sense!
      I just didn’t want to be the ahole that gave you bad advice to go skating around on a ‘loose screw’ 😳
