is this the machine that you are reviewing ? Samsung Chromebook Plus V2, 2-in-1, Intel Core m3, 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC, 13MP Camera, Chrome OS, 12.2", 16:10 Aspect Ratio, Light Titan (XE520QAB-K02US) or is it the (XE520QAB-K01US)
Is the storage upgradable? I'm thinking of installing a samsung 250gb evo 860 m.2ssd and install ubuntu...nd will linux run good on the celeron version?
Honestly, not having the 3:2 aspect ratio is an absolute deal breaker for me. The lower screen resolution, too. I've seen laptops and tablets at that resolution, and they just don't compare to the 2400x1600 of the original Chromebook Plus. Sure, if you look at this by itself, I guess it's an acceptable device, or ti would be if it were substantially cheaper. If you do compare it to its predecessor, though, this is garbage, and it costs more. Everything I liked about the Chromebook Plus over competing devices when it launched has been made worse here, and they charge more for it. I have no reason to upgrade. I'm waiting on the Acer Chromebook Spin 13 to launch, which should be an actual upgrade to me.
Almost, but not quite the same. It's still less screen realestate for the same corner to corner measurement, and every pixel counts, particularly for a device where you change orientation frequently. That little bit of extra screen space can mean the difference between comfortably reading and annotating a PDF in portrait, and having to pan left and right as you read. I mean, you might as well say 16:10 is almost identical to 16:9, but hopefully nobody would argue that they're the same.
Quick question. I'm not sure if this applies to all Chromebooks, but whne I log in, it auto loads the Chrome web browser. Is there any way to set it so it only loads to the desktop only? Thanks in advance.
The prices has risen. You can get it used in the $400 range. Brand new, its over $500 in 2020. I guess the demand with students and workers being at home has put the capitalism bite on laptop's. Good thorough review. Thank you.
It looks cool with nice build quality, but 500$ for a Celeron and a machine with no heavy productivity is a joke. They could add an i3 and make a little more usable. For 500$ you can find an i5 Windows laptop...
@@abc456f I was really impressed by the stylus on the Plus v2. The C302 is a little better made, but you can get the Plus v2 a lot cheaper right now. I think it beats out the C302 unless they also drop the price on that one.
@@munrowood I don't know. There's one samsung pro with 64 gb storage on amazon. Can't find another one anywhere. Might pull the trigger on that one. I don't watch movies on anything other than my 65" vizio or my Sony projector. I really want that samsung pro display. The stylus is just a little bonus. I don't type in the dark so a backlit keyboard isn't a must. In addition, Samsung and Google are working together on development. It may be gone by the time I finish typing this but if it's still there...it's mine.
@@abc456f Go for it. The 3:2 screen wasn't so important to me, but the keyboard was. I'm not the best typist, and I heard some bad reviews of the Pro's keyboard. They seem to have fixed that on the Plus v2, so that's why I went for it. If the display is important to you, then by all means get the Pro.
@@munrowood Done. There were actually two left. Not sure if it's just that they're all sold out or they're not making the 64gb version anymore. Best Buy says "not available". Seriously, you need to be reviewing all things electronic. IMO, just as good, if not a little better than MKBHD. And I bought this today from Samsung for $350 and no tax.
I own the Samsung Chromebook Pro and three others and their processors perform some tasks like a 2001 Compaq laptop performed. I cannot extract files without the whole Chromebook freezing for a moment.
I'm surprised that about five years after this video was recorded, Samsung still has this model on their website at $450 (via business sales only). It's particularly strange since there are 83 reviews of it on their site, and of those, 46 are one star, and most of those cite an obviously bad hinge-mount design that causes frequent hinge breaks and cracks the screen. (Mine broke, as well, but fortunately did not crack the screen and I was able to reattach the hinge with some special two-part epoxy, though it's never been quite the same since.) Some responses to the reviews from Samsung cite their warranty coverage, which in most cases doesn't apply since this defect typically manifests out of warranty. Samsung certainly has the right to disclaim any formal legal liability in this case, but I would think that for an obviously defective design, a product recall (and repair or replacement) would be a worthwhile investment in brand redemption and customer goodwill.

They could add an i3 and make a little more usable.
For 500$ you can find an i5 Windows laptop...
$350 at Best Buy for Cyber Monday
Hi, my Samsung chromebook v2 is not coming up but the light that indicates is charging comes up when I charge it. What do I do?
I haven't seen any convertible laptop where it weighs more at the bottom than the top where the screen is.
What should I replace my r11 with?
350$ Best Buy Black Friday
I was able to get it for $350. I enjoy using this chromebook so far.
i got it for 229 on ebay 🥴😏
Lorenzo Corleone, Gonzales can I get the link of where you got it? And how is thr chromebook's state?
@@Larked hey Liz i actually bid on it on Ebay and won and its actually a really!! reallyyy!! good laptop
Lorenzo Corleone, Gonzales thank you! I plan on buying it soon for school because my windows laptop rn is so heavy
Is there a camera for video conferencing?

Does this have an hdmi port?
what do you all think of the chromebook plus v2 with the m3 chip and 64gb storage? it looks like it has the same specs as the pro...
Seeing the m3 version for $450 on amazon. Trying to decide between it and the asus c302 for $474.
I'll be using tablet mode more than anything and the 3:2 aspect ratio on the pro will be better than the 16:9 on the asus.
Samsung has no mention of it on their site. Only the 32gb, with and without backlit keyboard. Amazon's 30 day return policy gives me an added sense of protection. Will have it in a week. Can't wait!
What is what not to like about this Chromebook? I would like to see how it compares with Lenovo's new Yoga Chromebook, HP's Chromebook X2, and Dell's new Inspiron 13 Chromebook.
I'm so confused! Why do they have 2 versions of the Chromebook Plus? Best Buy is selling this for $399.99. But Samsung is selling for $499.99 on their website.. and they got 2 different models for the same price.. ugh.
One has an intel core 3 series, the other one intel celeron, there is a considerable difference between them
Its better than chromebook pixel 2?
Would you recomend this over the ASUS C302?
Still worth it in 2019 for $400?
Got it for 300
Looking forward to the comparison with the original Samsung Chromebook Plus.

I sell Chromebooks on EBay for around $250 each. They’re in like-new condition and they’re made by Samsung. Model number XE520QAB-K03US.
Search ebay for me. My user name is “my-own-way” and my store name is “Enlightened Cellular.” I’m an experienced EBayer with great reviews and my products are clean, clear, and in pristine condition.
But why is there no backlight? That's the only thing that turns me off.
Seriously, you need to be reviewing all things electronic. IMO, just as good, if not a little better than MKBHD. And I bought this today from Samsung for $350 and no tax.
O do meu irmão não quer ligar mais! O que eu faço?
I own the Samsung Chromebook Pro and three others and their processors perform some tasks like a 2001 Compaq laptop performed. I cannot extract files without the whole Chromebook freezing for a moment.
That's because the default chrome os archive mounter sucks.. I use 3rd party extractor from play store and its much better
@@drykitufk but its true though chromebook sometimes hang when extracting with the default archive mounter
208 exchange it!
Samsung certainly has the right to disclaim any formal legal liability in this case, but I would think that for an obviously defective design, a product recall (and repair or replacement) would be a worthwhile investment in brand redemption and customer goodwill.
can i run gimp in this laptop?
Anyone knows if Samsung Chromebook pro v2 coming soon since they released the plus v2?
this was soo good. I wish they have i3 and a little more Ram but i got it renew w/ $150 so it is worth every penny.
I almost bought another windows laptop and kind of shunned the Chromebooks thinking they were just a cheap alternative to window. And i'll get frustrated not being able to do the things i want. Well i was wrong. Chromebooks are perfect for me. I have the Acer 14. It does everything i want. Battery last for ages and no updates or viruses to worry about. If you mainly want to surf the net, watch you tube and Netflix, read and send emails, shop on Amazon and check the news and weather, just get a chromebook.
I expect that Samsung should be releasing a refreshed Chromebook Pro anytime soon.
Please can you review the Acer CB-311-8HT ?
